I woke up, Danny’s face above. Was he carrying me, or was this a dream? No, this had to be a dream, there was no way that I would be picked up without me waking up from my sleep. I could’ve been incredibly tired, and that my subconscious didn’t seem to notice anything wrong.

“Ugh. Where are we?” I groaned, and Danny looked down.

“Well, we had to start moving, so I went and picked you up so we could start moving. You need to eat breakfast, also.” He responded, leaving my levitated on a light chair.

It was literally made of light, and that made me feel weak, but nothing more. Danny pulled out a plate of french toast with syrup, and gave it to me. I sat it on my lap and ate it, eating it very slowly because it was that good. Robert was like Gordon Ramsay, the kitchen dude who has so many stars in his cuisine choices and the places that he owns.

I must’ve have eaten it all within a small amount of time because when I thought I had more, there was none. Danny watched me and laughed, causing me to glare at him. Tiredness was still a factor, but at least I wasn’t really tired that much. Sure, I might fall asleep here and there, but I doubt I will be up all night.

“How much farther?” I asked, and Amber looked backwards towards me. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“About 2 miles. You had Danny carrying you for 4 and a half hours. And now he finally listens to me about levitating you.” Amber responded, taking a look at Danny.

“Sorry, I was only going to do that if my arms started to grow tired.” Danny protested, but it seemed like Amber ignored him.

Sighing, I shook my head and grabbed my crutches from Panama. Hopping off the chair, I started to walk like everyone else. Although Jason just seemed to not be walking but flying on storm clouds like a surfer, everyone was trudging through the now dirt path. Angel didn’t care about placing a cobblestone path, and just let everyone trudge through the mud and dirt.

I could see the city in the distance as we grew closer. As we neared the 1 mile mark, it was no longer hazy. By then, everyone was using their elemental powers just to get there. Everyone was sick and tired of walking and going slow. For me, I got annoyed that my powers didn’t work, so I hitched a ride with Jennifer, who riding on air.

In under an hour, we had reached Maehara. The palace was where we needed to be, and it was surrounded by a lot of palace guards. We landed outside of the steps and walked on up them to the guards, who I felt were going to stop us. When we reached their level, they stopped us.

“Who are you all and what is your business here?” The guard on the left spoke, the other one standing the defending position.

“We are a group of sorcerers escorting a Darkness elemental to see the Supreme Leader and the Elemental Leaders.” Amber spoke, pointing to me.

“Show us then.” The guard on the right spoke, and I instantly grew terrified.

Squinting my eyes, I tried my best to create something out of darkness, but I couldn’t do anything. The guards looked at me and inspected every aspect. They messed with my hair, clothes, and anything else they could find. Once they were done, they went back to their position and the doors opened.

“Go on in, kids. It’s obvious she can’t do anything because it’s daytime.” The guard spoke, which was the one on the right.

When we walked in, the palace looked like it was made of glass, crystals, and ice. Guards lines every wall, walkway, balcony, and anything else. Guards came over and escorted us to the main chamber, which we saw the leaders. They all seemed to be big in power, but not in intellect.

“Welcome, travellers. We’ve been expecting you for a while now.” The guy in the middle spoke, “I am Supreme Leader Jackson Balancegiver. You can assume who everyone is by their coats and their symbols on their vests.”

“Yes, I suppose that is true, Jackson.” The girl in the snowy like vest spoke.

“So my guards tell me that there is a Darkness elemental with you? May we see him?”

“Well, he is a she.” Amber spoke as she took my hand.

“Ok, she can step forwards.”

I took a couple steps forwards and saw everyone looking at me. The supreme leader leaned over and took a longer look than the others did. After a few silent moments, he leaned back and thought about me, or at least, I think he was. The other leaders looked towards him and waited for his response.

“Well, what’s your name, young one?” He asked after a little bit of time between the time he stopped looking at me.

“Heather Moon.” I gulped out, scared since there’s many people of power in front of me.

“Let me see my daughter!” I heard a voice in the distance, and it sounded like Mom’s, but that was impossible.

“Sorry, sir. She is in a very important meeting with the others. You can wait.” I heard another voice.

“I am supposed to be up there, and they never told me about this. Of course it’s about my elemental powers.”

Turning around, I saw several guards trying to hold back a person. I wasn’t sure who he was, but he seemed of power. He wore a black and grey coat and vest. His symbol was half skull and half moon. It seemed like he was the leader of Darkness. My friends that I had travelled with looked at him in awe.

“Why aren’t you up here, Hector?” Supreme Leader Jackson spoke.

“Well, I would’ve come if you had told me!” He roared, obviously not happy.

“Wait, Alice, why didn’t you tell him? I told you to.”

“I didn’t have time, since he is all the way across the city, and not in the palace.” Alice spoke, which apparently was the person in the ice blue coat and vest.

“Well, why didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t have time. Come sit with us, Hector. As for Heather, she’s going to need training.”

I stood awkwardly as they fought amongst themselves, as if they were siblings all in a minivan. Slowly, I walked backwards and stood at the front of the crowd. Them fighting filled the empty soundless space that I knew, making me think that they could very well be siblings.

“Hey, Heather. This is not going to plan, is it?” Danny asked, looking me in the eyes.

“No. It’s not. Maybe we should go? I can teach myself at night, since that’s when my powers come out.” I spoke, looking downwards to my feet.

“So we came here for nothing?” Amber spoke after I looked at her.

“Probably. Let’s go home. We have no other business here anyways.” Jason jumped in after Amber.

“I guess it’s for the best.” Jennifer admitted, and I turned to everyone else.

Walking towards the door, I think they noticed us all leaving because it suddenly became quiet. I didn’t stop moving, but guards started to chase us. Of course they wouldn’t come for us, but send their guards and anyone else in order to get us back to them.

Jennifer flew into the air and swooped down to grab me, and putting me on my own air whirlwind. Jason summoned his storm cloud and started zapping people with lightning. Kaitlyn used her power and summoned a few owls, and up in the air she went. Soon, we were all in the air with different types of aerial creatures or spells.

I could see the outside from the height I was at, it was late evening. The two suns were about to set, and I could feel my powers from inside of me starting to grow and grow. Suddenly it bursted, and tentacles darkness spread out and killed the guards through their stomachs.

Everyone stared at me, and I suddenly felt guilty. What had I done? They were going to think I was a killer now, even though I have no control over it. I saw pieces of the ceiling begin to fall, and I pushed everyone out of the way and created a shield. It took most of my power, but I saved them, but not myself. I held the upper part of the building, saving those that I loved.

“Ugh! Run! It’s going to fall!” I yelled, pain and agony visible in my voice.

Shuffling of feet below me, from what I saw, started to run away in fear. All of them but Kaitlyn and Jason. Why weren’t they going? Either way, I could only hold so much, so I waited till they would go.

Instead, Kaitlyn started to grow young trees, adult trees, and old trees. Jason started to zap them, probably doing something to make them incredibly strong. I started to clench my hands, and I was surprised I was still floating, because I was certain that Jennifer would stop it.

I gave out, and I began to free fall downwards. The ceiling was beginning to fall fast, and I knew this was the end, it had to be. I saw a figure fly by, but it was already too late. The crystalline castle was collapsing and there was nothing to hold it back. But the trees? Why weren’t they falling from the crushing force of the upper part of the castle?

I landed on the floor, feeling crushed and immobile. Jason started yelling something and rushed over to me. He inspected me and started to lean downwards to pick me up before he got hit by something? No, that was impossible unless the leaders were doing it.

A ghostly figure stood above me and picked me up quickly and then threw me out. I don’t what to do, but I was crippled, so there wasn’t much I could do. The first person I saw after that was Robert, who ending up shaking me in order to see if I was alive.

“Are you ok?” He asked and I slightly nodded.

I couldn’t move my hands, legs, or anything. The only things I could was my stomach area and my head. I had studied about this, but it was gone to me. Robert kept watch on me, and left when he saw someone. Not sure who, I waited for him to return.

“Robert. Who?” I called out, loneliness in my voice.

“Kaitlyn. I don’t think she made it.”
