I heard the opening of the room door, resulting me to be awake and Gabriel’s scent hit my nostrils.

He was back.

I heard something hit the ground before the bed dip beside me.

He wrapped an arm around my figure, sighing.

That’s it?

Wasn’t he even surprised that I was actually alive?

Not even a few seconds later, I heard his soft snoring.

He was already asleep. I understand the fact that it was a tiring day, tomorrow there will be a ceremony for the wolves that sacrificed their lives, therefore, he will be once again busy with the preparations.

Will there never be time for me though?

Am I being selfish to think that way?

I held my sobs in, trying to fall asleep, while eventually, I managed to.

When it was a little past the morning, I woke up as the sun began to light up the room. I realized that there were no arms wrapping around my figure, instinctively resulting me to turn around to check if Gabriel was anywhere in sight.

As I expected, he was not anywhere to be seen.

Did he leave already?

I got up from the bed before moving over to the washroom, looking at my own reflection through the mirror.

I raised up my shirt, revealing my belly bum.

I bit my lower lip. My appointment is within half an hour. Am I sure that I want to do this?

I returned my gaze back to the room where Gabriel was not there.

I sighed.

This needs to be done.

Gabriel Zades P.O.V

The funerals for all the wolves that sacrificed had to be held and being the future alpha, I had to be there to structure the preparations and direct it.

This was truly a day of loss.

I spotted Adamone with Evelyn from the corner of my eyes where they seemed to be arguing about something.

I caught up to them. “Hey.”

Adam looked at me. “How’s Lilith?”

Evelyn’s complete focus diverted on me, awanting a response.

“She seemed to be okay, she was asleep last night so I didn’t want to wake her up.” I told.

“Can I see her?” Evelyn asks.

It was still weird seeing her older than how she used to be, I do not know if I should treat her in her real age or the age she looks.

“Sure, I was wanting to surprise her with you anyways.” I spoke, and her eyes gleamed.

I led her and Adam to the packhouse on the trail to my room. As I opened the door, I noticed that her presence was nowhere to be found.

That was odd.

Maybe she went over to grab some food?

Evelyn looked at me questioningly.

I saw one of my pack members walk by.

“Hey, did you notice my mate?” I asked him.

“Yea, I saw her going to the clinic earlier.” He speaks.

Clinic?

Was she not healed yet?

Evelyn seemed concerned and so was I.

“Umm, I’ll head to the clinic, could you and Evelyn just wait in the room maybe and I’ll come around shortly with her?” I suggested.

“Sure.” Adam shrugged.

I strode off to the pack clinic, as I saw a few pack doctors there.

“Did my mate come in here earlier?” I questioned.

All of them looked at each other having a knowing look but they were hesitant to tell me anything.

I raised an eyebrow at them.

“Do I have to ask twice?” I was becoming impatient.

“Your mate is going through a procedure right now, the operation is about to start in 10 minutes.” One of them said.

Operation?

Procedure?

“Has she not healed yet from the wolfsbane bullet wound?” I enquired.
