Chapter 6 Howling Wolf

My stomach ached.

I cried in pain, making my pace to slower down.

‘Don’t slow down.’ Lucifer ordered.

Valentine Winters P.O.V

I could not speed up.

I tried.

But I couldn’t.

‘Faster, Val. Please.’ He whimpered in my mind.

Suddenly, I was shot from the back as I tumbled down onto the muddy ground. I was cautious not to allow any portion of my belly to touch the ground but I did scrape my knees and hand making it bleed.

An arrow was pierced at my back as I wept in hurt. Lucifer rushed near me, transforming back to his human self, entirely nude.

“Get up.” He ordered, breathing heavily.

He drew the arrow away from my back making me hiss in pain. Breaking it into half using his knee, he flung it away so that it can’t be used to any further extent.

I could feel that my back was bleeding but it was healing too after the arrow had been tossed away.

Lucifer grabbed hold of my upper arm, dragging me up to my feet. I cried from the discomfort but nevertheless stood up to run once more.

He clasped my right hand into his left before running together with me yet again.

He was too fast, using his werewolf speed. I couldn’t keep up with his pace.

“No.” He stated.

“P-please.” I pleaded.

“I can’t keep up.” I admitted.

“You need to.” He alleged.

That’s when a gun shot was heard soaring up to the sky.

“You’re surrounded, there’s no escaping.” We heard a voice from the woods.

Lucifer’s breathing became heavier as he overheard the voice, a look of apprehension and dread founding on his face.

A few hunters came out from the woods.

They were older.

A tall man came out in the middle with the gun in his hands wearing a hat. Lucifer immediately walked in front of me to shield me.

The man chortled sinisterly.

“There’s no saving her now.” He told while walking near us, the moon light shined bright showing a long scar across his face. He was a very much older person.

“You want me, let her go... grandfather.” Lucifer held.

My eyes went wide.

His grandfather?

“Hush.” He shushed him, furrowing his eyebrows looking irked.

“You deceived us, your family.” He says furiously, pacing left and right.

“You gave me no choice, I was fed with lies all my life!” Lucifer shouted with equivalent rage.

“Lies? We kept you though we knew what you were. Your father begged me.” Lucifer’s grandfather stated.

“You made me slaughter my own species. I was nothing but a weapon.” Lucifer uttered.

“Perhaps.” His grandfather started.

“But now, you are of no use for me.” He finished.

“Where are the others? I placed Devon in-charge.” Lucifer grilled.

“Who are you to hold authority to that while I’m still alive?” His grandfather queried angrily.

“Devon’s sent to prison.” We heard someone say gloomily from our right.

Lucifer looked over at him.

“Sir Pendragon, what do you mean?” Lucifer enquired.

“They’re all in prison.” Another man said from our left.

“Seems your luck just ran out, get the girl.” His grandfather repeated.

Lucifer Zades P.O.V

I woke up from the murky ground in the middle of the woods in my wolf form.

What happened?

I remembered.

They took her.

They took Valentine.

It was still night.

I quickly got back up on my four paws trying to catch her scent. My heart beat accelerating by the second.

I sprinted off following her scent. Running with all my strength. In some way, I knew that I was too late but I was resolute not to give up.

The instant the trails of her scent breaks, I stopped running, trying to catch more of her scent. This can’t possibly be it.

My wolf whined wretchedly but he was overwhelmingly fuming at the same moment.

He took over my body before howling piercingly towards the sky.
