Chapter 92 The Hansen Family

Elijah kept approaching, saying, “I know you've never been joking from the beginning to the end!”

She had long longed for a divorce, wanting to elope with Eason. From the moment Eason appeared, Elijah understood it all.

“Then why did you...”

Suddenly, Elijah cupped Cordelia’s face and said, “Aren“t I helping you fulfill your wish? Why are you so impatient?”

Cordelia suddenly burst into laughter. “Forgive my poor perception. I really didn't realize you were helping me.”

Perhaps, in Elijah’s view, getting entangled with women in ambiguous relationships was just a normal procedure.

He had never set any boundaries when it came to romantic

matters.

“Cordelia, don't push me,” Elijah murmured in her car, “Otherwise, I'd rather Eva's legs remain crippled for a lifetime.”

He was willing to go to such lengths just to keep Cordelia by his side! Cordelia frowned and cursed inwardly, “Psychotic!”

Cordelia thought she knew Elijah quite well, but she now realized that what she knew about him was just the tip of the iceberg.

There was always a vast distance between them.

However, she didn't believe that Elijah would actually do that. After all, he had always cared deeply about Eva's recovery and having her stand by his side.

Elijah didn't leave that night.

Even though countless people were looking for him, he didn't budge from Cordelia’s apartment.

Cordelia paid him no mind. She let him rest on the couch and ignored his long legs dangling onto the floor with nowhere to

rest.

They had applied for divorce, and while they hadn't formally divorced yet, Cordelia had the best sleep she'd had in a long time that night.

In the middle of the night, Cordelia felt the mattress next to her sink down. She sensed the presence of sharp eyes fixated on her in the darkness, but she paid no attention.

Elijah was right in a way. She had endured for three years, and in this last month, she could tolerate his madness a little longer.

The following day, Cordelia was woken up by Elijah.

“Get up and have breakfast.”

“I don't want to.” Cordelia turned over, facing away from him.

She felt exhausted and weary. It seemed like she hadn't slept at all last night, and she wanted to continue sleeping.

However, a low voice suddenly sounded in her ear. “Should I bring it in and feed you?”

Cordelia instinctively shrank, feeling a tickling sensation on her neck. Reluctantly, she got up, freshened up, and went to the dining room for breakfast.

While Cordelia was eating, her phone rang. It was Edith, her mother-in- law.

“Cordelia, Gideon was discharged from the hospital yesterday. He couldn't sleep all night after coming back home,” Edith said.

Cordelia frowned. “Did his heart and lung condition act up again? Or is it because he’s having trouble sleeping in a new place?”

“Gideon said he couldn't sleep because he lost the lucky charm you gave him. He was thinking about it all night,” Edith chuckled, sounding in a pretty good mood.

Cordelia was taken aback. She hadn't expected that Gideon would care so much about the gift she had given him.

“Well then, I'll make another one for him and deliver it to him before tonight,” Cordelia obediently replied.

“That would be good.”

Just as Cordelia hung up the phone, Edith suddenly touched her head, gently rubbing it.

“You are a good daughter-in-law of the Hansen family. No wonder the elders all like you.” Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
