It would be an early day tomorrow when this woman they spoke of would arrive.

Stone ordered them all to go to sleep except two men which he had on watch. Then in four hours, two others would take their place.

Everyone groaned and grumbled but they all filed out to go to the spare rooms. There would be some double and tripling up in the beds to fit all these men.

Jack opted to sleep on the couch and he let 3 men take his room. He wanted to be where he could see the hall. Why? He shrugged. In case, Jade or Belle needed him? All he could think about was her. Even with the mission and all that had happened. He’d wanted to talk to her and be with her. Why though? She seemed to be fine even after all she’d been through. So apparently, she did not need him.

He finally dozed off.

A while later, he bolted upright and grabbed someone that loomed over him. His instincts never failed him. Immediately, he realized the person was female and he recognized her scent. “Jade?”

“Yes,” she gasped.

He plopped her down on his lap as he sat back down. “Why are you out here?”

She remained silent, but her body trembled.

The next morning as the sun slipped in through the curtains, Jack got up and went to the first bathroom that had a shower.
