Warlords MC – The Complete Series
Warlords MC: Book 6 – Traven : Chapter 2

Traven stared at the road they were traveling. They had a ways to go to get to the compound but he needed to know some things about her before they got there. This would be like pulling teeth too, so he prepared himself for it. “So what’s your name?”

She turned her head and glared at him. “I’m not telling you anything Mr. Spooky. This is straight up kidnapping and you know it.”

Traven barked out a laugh. “Spooky? That’s a new one. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time and I saved you from getting your head blown off.”

“Whatever you say, my lord and master,” she mocked a bow in his direction. “Whatever you say. But I wasn’t really in any danger. I can take care of myself.”

Traven grinned. “I like the lord and master thing sweetheart but that guy tonight was about to step on you and don’t think for a moment he wouldn’t have put a bullet in your head for simply being there. What were you doing there anyway?”

She shrugged and looked away but didn’t say anything.

Quiet reigned in the car. Traven hadn’t gotten anywhere, so he decided to bide his time.

After a while she asked, “So where are we going?”

“As your supposed kidnapper, I am not required to tell you, am I?” He glanced her way then back to the road.

She huffed and crossed her arms over her chest.

He chuckled as she really amused him. “We’re heading back to my compound. We have questions and you might have the answers we need.”

Pausing, she glanced over at him. “Compound? Like a military thing or what?”

He shrugged “Or what maybe.” He couldn’t help but spar with her. It was just too damn amusing and he hadn’t felt amused in a long ass time. “I will answer your questions as soon as you answer mine.”

Her eyes narrowed at him. “Now, why do I doubt that? I may have the answers but you have to ask the right questions first. And some questions might lead to your death.”

He laughed. “Well, I as Mr. Spooky, I am certainly unafraid of death, little girl,” Traven quipped. He didn’t know why but this chick really amused him. All of 5 foot nuthin’ and full of brass. He grew somber suddenly—and she could have been dead, sneaking around that place.

They drove in silence now.

Her fuming.

Him, wondering who she was and why she had been at that camp.

Yes, Winter fumed. She had good cause. Nothing had gone right tonight, but then nothing had gone right for her for years, so why should tonight be any different? She caught her breath as she remembered that tonight she’d been so close… closer than she’d even been before but not quite close enough.

Damn, she never got close enough…

Less than an hour later, they pulled into a compound. It was hidden from view by a series of well placed trees and rock walls. As they navigated the way in, she noted a certain organization to the compound. She had a thought that these men meant business, but what that business was she didn’t dare hazard a guess.

When the SUV stopped, she looked around. There were three main buildings and a number of vehicles like the one she was sitting in.

When her ‘kidnapper’ exited the vehicle, she turned her head and stared at his back. Tall, dark and handsome, some women might think. Not her, as he had been nothing but a nuisance so far. She watched him walk around the vehicle with caution. He was the kind of man she needed to deal carefully with. Just the way he moved and carried himself, told her that much.

When he stopped at her door, he grinned. He then opened it and held out a hand.

She ignored his hand and his dazzling grin as she slipped down to the ground to stand on her own two feet. She took a step away from the SUV and looked around then she turned back to him and asked, “What is this place?”

He crossed his arms over his chest and told her, “This is our home.”

“Your home?” she asked. “How many of you are there?”

He stepped closer to her and said, “We are only a dozen or so but we are all lethal.”

She raised her brows. “Oh, I have no doubt about the lethal part. I’ve been wondering when you will slit my throat or something.”

He paused and then chuckled. “Make me mad enough and we will see.”

She blinked, not knowing if he was joking or not.

He sighed and went on, “We live here because this place suits our needs. No one knows where we are and that suits us just fine.”

She looked up at him and asked, “What do you do here exactly?”

“I think I answered enough of your questions. Remember our conversation earlier?”

Winter rolled her eyes. “That wasn’t a conversation. It was you grilling me.”

He grinned again, then leaned in close to her. “No, if I really grilled you…you would feel the heat.”

Her eyes widened as her mouth popped open.

Big, dark and spooky, chuckled as he stepped away.

They turned to see the other vehicles pull into the parking lot.

The SUV came in and stopped first then she saw her own vehicle pull in. Her car wasn’t as nice as the SUV’s but it got her from point A to point B. It was a ten year old Ford Escort and there was more than a little rust on the outside and sometimes in the cold weather, it didn’t want to start but it was hers. Her car was all she had left of her once upon a time life, her family was all but gone now, and she’d been alone these last five years. Except for her baby brother.

She shook her head. It had been five years since her father died and her family fell apart. At least after all this time, she’d finally found the camp. She knew where the traitors were. Now, all she had to do was get herself back there and… And what? She didn’t know what she could do against that army of evil but she would try. Her car had enough explosives in it to do the job. She might die trying but she would try.

Mr. Hot and Spooky urged her forward toward the main building.

She yanked her arm from his grasp and glared at him, then stomped away, knowing she had no choice at least… for now. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

His dark chuckle followed her.

When the four of them entered, the men in the room looked up from their studies and observed them. They had been looking at different maps all over the state of Montana, hoping to find the camps they searched for. They knew there was more just the one camp Traven, Venom and Nite Stalker had visited tonight.

When they got into the room and the light, Traven got his first look at her. She was small woman, just over five feet tall but he could see now that she was full grown with some curves to her. But it was her hair that caught his attention the most, a dark red. Dark that almost said black but when you really looked at it, there was a deep red hidden just beneath the surface. It was the most beautiful color he’d ever seen. It went very well with her unusual eyes. He shook his head. What the hell? He had no business looking at her hair.

Now the other men that made up Traven’s crew studied the newcomer.

Finally, Phantom drawled, “What the hell is this? You were going to scout the camp, not bring back one of them.”

“I’m not one of them.” She snarled. “Nor would I want to be.”

“Then who are you lady?” Flint asked.

“Me?” She shrugged. “I’m nobody.”

Traven watched her. Here she was, a woman alone in a room full of men. He looked around at his group. And rough looking men at that. Telling him, he was spooky and a kidnapper, calling Nite Stalker creepy then just as much spitting in their faces. Where was her fear? It would be natural for her to have some, wouldn’t it?

“Well, Ms. Nobody,” Venom told the group. “We found her at the camp, watching what was going on. In fact, one of the sentry’s almost walked over top of her before Traven put him to sleep.”

Traven nodded. “Then we had to hightail it out of there before they could find us. They weren’t in the best of moods, chasing us through the woods either. We may have compromised our mission just getting out of there. Now they know someone found them, they may not know who, but they know someone was there tonight.”

Flint growled and glared at her. “Lady, do you know how hard it was to find them in the first fucking place? Now we have to start all over.”

Venom nodded. “You just made our job that much harder than it needed to be.”

Shaking his head, Phantom said, “Yeah, you can bet your sweet ass, they aren’t going to stay where they are any longer than it takes to pack up the camp. You…” He glared at her, “Just cost us weeks of research. Do you have any idea what you did?”

She nodded while glaring at him. “Yeah, I know damn well what I did. But you all fucked this up for me too!” She looked over at Traven. “You screwed it up for me.”

Traven turned to her with a question in his eyes.

The men all watched her as well.

What was this woman hiding? Traven wondered.
