Chapter 27 Wife and Outsider
She made such ridiculous remarks that I couldn’t help but find it laughable.
Christopher seemed to have spoiled her, making her so shameless.
I sneered and coldly said, “Are you really part of the Valence family? I remember even your surname was only granted under Charlie’s plea; Bentley probably doesn’t acknowledge you as part of the Valence family.”
“According to what you’re saying, this car is even more mine because I am Christopher’s lawful wife.”
I emphasized, watching her expression stiffen little by little, a sense of satisfaction rising within me.
She gritted her teeth, “You two are almost getting divorced!”
“But we haven’t divorced yet. Until we do, my status will always be more legitimate than yours.” I smiled.
“You are shameless!”
She was furious, glaring at me, “If you want to divorce him, you should do it immediately! Why do you keep entangling
with Chris?
“Are you sure it’s me who’s entangling with him?”

She looked at me with disdain, as if hearing something unbelievable. “Are you trying to tell me that Chris is the one entangling with you?”
I coldly chuckled, “You can ask him who came to me after drinking last night.”
She was stunned, unable to contain her jealousy any longer, and then slapped my face,
I didn’t expect her to hit me in such a place; my cheek was throbbing with pain, leaning to one side!
The Valence Group employees who unexpectedly witnessed this scene were all shocked.
1, too, was enraged. As I raised my hand to retaliate, a large hand firmly grasped my wrist.
Christopher’s face darkened, his voice stern, ‘Hope, why are you resorting to violence now!”

My ankle hadn’t fully recovered, and I stumbled back several steps, my back hitting the car with a dull thud.

He looked at Evelyn with a worried expression and asked, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine; luckily, you arrived just in time,” Evelyn said, her eyes turning red, shimmering with tears, looking fragile and pitiful.
Upon hearing this, Christopher’s tone turned cold and composed again. “I told you not to provoke her, didn’t you remember?”
“I didn’t mean to provoke her; I just wanted to catch a ride back to the Valence Manor. You know, I’m not very skilled at driving, and it makes me nervous.”
“You are not proficient in driving, so why did you still buy several cars?”
Christopher coldly retorted at her and made a permissive decision, “Get in

Evelyn responded softly, then asked him for the car keys, “Then I’ll wait for you in the car.”
When she passed by me, she glanced at me with a provocative look in her eyes.
I clearly heard the discussions of the onlookers passing by.
“It seems that the newcomer who suddenly joined the design department is indeed Mrs. Valence.”
“Yeah, she actually physically assaulted Ms. Royston, but Mr. Valence still defended her.”
“If you were Mr. Valence, facing your wife and an outsider, you would definitely stand up for your wife, too.”

I felt bitter in my heart and I blinked hard to hold back the tears. 1 walked slowly to Chris‘ front, my back straight, revealing half of my face still burning with pain.
I know there must be a slap mark on my face. If Chris had looked at me a little longer, he would have realized that I was just fighting back.
But he didn’t.
All his attention was on Evelyn.
The disappointment in my heart was so thick that it couldn’t dissipate. I almost said word by word, Christopher please see clearly, she slapped me first-

Elissa was displeased. “She really hit you?”
“Yes, but I’m fine; it’s not serious.”
I didn’t want to make her worry.
She was quick–tempered; if no one stopped her, she might do something terrible.
Elissa didn’t believe me at all, “Don’t lie to me. I’ve heard she slapped you! Damn it!”

I reassured her repeatedly, then said, I’m heading back to the Valence Manor now, I’ll come to your place later so you can see for yourself that I’m okay, okay?”

Feeling uneasy, I sent Elissa a message.
Seeing her immediate reply, I felt more at ease.
Upon arriving at the Valence Manor, I touched up my makeup in the car to hide the visible palm print on my face.
I did this not to avoid upsetting Christopher but because Bentley was in poor health. The other day at the Valence Group, he had a health scare due to anger, which startled me; I didn’t want anything else to happen to him.
As soon as I finished fixing myself up and got out of the car, the butler, Barry, came out to greet me.
With a warm smile, he said, “Mrs. Valence, you’ve been in the car for so long. Mr. Bentley is anxious and asked me to come out and check on you,”
I smiled gently. “You re back from your hometown. Is everything settled there? If you need our help, be sure to let us know.”
Barry had worked for the Valence family for many years, starting when he was young by Bentley’s side. Everyone in the Valence family respected him.
Recently, his father passed away at nearly a hundred years old, so he had gone back home to take care of his father’s
affairs.
As Barry chatted with me, he led me into the hall.
All the members of the Valence family, including Christopher and Evelyn, were already there.
The atmosphere was quite harmonious.
Evelyn didn’t dare to make trouble in front of Bentley; she sat quietly in the corner.
As I approached, Bentley’s serious face softened into a kind smile, instructing the servant, “Quick, give Hope the coffee
I just received today; she loves this. Wrap up the remaining coffee beans for her to take home.”
Seeing Bentley in a good mood, Audrey pretended to be angry, “Dad, you’re too biased!”
