Chapter 36 Men are Despicable

In a daze, I thought of the past.

At that time, Christopher and I had just been married for half a year. My period was delayed by about ten days. Even though he always used protection, I still suspected that I might be pregnant.

I took a deep breath and walked out of the hospital.

“If I change it now, it will be very easy.”

I called Elissa, and she quickly answered the phone. “I was just about to call you. Where are you? Why didn’t you come to work? What happened last night? Why did your phone suddenly shut down? Nothing happened between you and Christopher, right?”

She was very anxious and asked many questions.

I didn’t know how to respond to her.

I choose to answer her first question, “I am at Messlushi Hospital.”

“Did you go for your prenatal check–up? You should tell me so I can accompany you.”

Elissa didn’t stop me; she just asked, “Have you figured out what you’ll do if you fail?”

I would avoid all possibility of losing my child.

After this decision, I lost the desire to go home and cook. After eating pasta casually downstairs in the neighborhood, I went back home and lay down on the sofa.

As I waited for Christopher to return, I worked diligently, holding my laptop close, fully immersed in my tasks.

By afternoon, there was still no movement at the door.

I couldn’t help but message Christopher.

No one replied.

What urgent matter made him so busy? Elissa should have mentioned on the phone if the company was in trouble.

In the fall, the days were short, and the nights were long. The sun was already setting at five o’clock.

your medical examination report to you?”

Donald asked, “What emergency?”

I realized today that it wasn’t business that made Christopher leave me behind.

The scene shocked people.

Whose blood was that? Why was it there? The answer was self–evident.

My location was close to him. All he needed to do was turn his head, and he would find me.

However, he did not.

He was anxiously waiting outside the emergency room, only focused on the woman inside. I had never seen him like this, like a trapped animal.
