Chapter 79 Won’t Call It That Way
I sat up and turned on the bedside switch, the room suddenly brightening.
Unexpectedly, I saw his haggard appearance.
The usually elegant and noble man now had a stubble sunken eyes. He seemingly hasn’t slept for days, looking deflated.
What happened at Valence Group to keep him so busy?
I furrowed my brows lightly, “You should get some rest yourself instead of coming to see me.”
His finger hooked the tie knot, pulling it down as he smiled bitterly. “I understand the pain you felt when you lost the child.”
I clenched my fists mockingly. “Christopher, I don’t need your empathy. Just remember at all times that you killed your first baby with your own hands; that’s enough for me.”
Pain flashed in his eyes, his thin lips slightly curved as he asked hoarsely, “Do you hate me that much?”
“Despise,” I admitted frankly, “I despise both you and Evelyn. If you think you owe me or the baby even a little bit, just go with me next month as scheduled for the divorce.”
Alright. His Adam’s apple rolled, lowering his gaze as he obscurely replied, ‘T’ll do as you say.”
That night, I didn’t sleep well.
Although I had made a difficult decision, there was always a feeling in my heart that it wouldn’t end so easily.
This left me restless and uneasy,
However, I received good news as soon as I woke up next day.
Cecil smiled brightly, “Hope, you never fail to impress.”
I paused my fruit–eating motion, “Cecil, are you in the mood to tease me so early in the morning?”
“What if I say you won first place in the design competition?”
He chuckled, “Would that still be considered teasing?”
“Really?!”
I stood up abruptly, my eyes shining..
This was undoubtedly a pleasant surprise for me. With the ups and downs recently, I couldn’t even bring myself to think about what place I’ll end up in.

Cecil’s voice was clear. “Of course, I was already amazed when I saw your design sketches. However, competitions ultimately rely on the judges‘ votes, so I didn’t dare tell you in worry you’d be disappointed.”
I said excitedly. “Cecil, thank you!”

I chuckled and then expressed my thoughts, “Let’s leave the hospital today. I don’t have much to do, and it’s too stuffy here:
Initially reluctant, Elissa agreed after confirming with the doctor that I was fine.
With her lively nature, accompanying me in the hospital these days probably left her bored.
“Should we go shopping? A huge new shopping center opened a few days ago, claiming to be the largest mall in this city.”
Elissa suddenly suggested while packing. I also wanted to go out for a walk, so I agreed.
The mall was in the southern district, and since it was a workday, there weren’t many people at this time.
Elissa had a strong desire to shop, dragging me around.
She said that after finally resigning, she wanted to reward herself after working for four years.
“Look, isn’t that Evelyn over there?”
Passing by a luxury counter, she suddenly pointed inside.

She was trying some expensive bags, probably planning to buy them.
Christopher was always generous to her.

I wasn’t interested in watching further, so I pulled Elissa to leave. However, Elissa suddenly narrowed her eyes and pulled me behind a pillar!

“Charlie?”
“He’s shopping Evelyn!” Elissa looked astonished.
“Isn’t that normal?” I smiled, “She has always been Charlie’s favorite.”
Even Christopher couldn’t get a bit of fatherly love, as all of his father’s love went to Evelyn.
Elissa furrowed her brows in confusion. She cautiously peeked over before withdrawing with a puzzled look. “She’s holding onto his arm; it’s the first time I’ve seen a stepdaughter and stepfather get along so well.”
“Their relationship is probably no less than that of a biological father and daughter.”
I wasn’t interested in anything related to the Valence family except for my grandfather. “Let’s go.”
Unexpectedly, we had barely taken a few steps when Evelyn called out to us!
I didn’t want to deal with her.
She approached and looked me up and down, asking. “You’ve been discharged?”
“What’s it to you?” I replied unkindly.
She immediately turned to Charlie, coquettishly complaining, “Dad, look! I’m just worrying for her, and she’s being this way.”
Elissa rolled her eyes, and I pulled her behind me. Charlie walked over, carrying himself with an air of seniority, “I heard you and Christopher are getting a divorce?”
“Yes, it’s happening next month,” I answered truthfully.
Learning that his son and I were divorcing, he couldn’t hide his joy and urged, “Alright, get it done quickly!”
“Hope also wants it done quickly, but your son is unwilling! Elissa felt like he was urging me to make room for Evelyn, so she deliberately provoked them back. She then sarcastically added, “It’s strange. What kind of father are you, eagerly anticipating your son’s divorce?”
Charlie said with a serious look, “Little girl, what nonsense are you talking? If they can’t get along, should I be blamed? I just want them to find their own happiness sooner.”
“After searching for so many years and going through so many, have you found your own happiness?”
Elissa’s eyes flickered as she glanced at Evelyn. She smirked, “You aren’t eyeing your stepdaughter now, are you?”

Evelyn’s face changed, her eyes widening in anger as she whined to him, “Dad! Look at her!”
Elissa wanted to drive them crazy. She smiled mischievously and said, “Are you calling him Dad both in bed and out of
bed?”
Both their faces turned ugly. Unable to contain her laughter, Elissa dragged me to the supermarket.
As she tossed snacks into the cart, she said, “What do you think is their relationship?”
answered, “I don’t know.”
“It’s definitely not an ordinary one.”
Her eyes suddenly lit up as she asked, “Do you think they might be blood–related?”
