I was astonished by Christopher’s confidence.
Yes, I didn’t deny that she used to like Christopher a lot, but why did he think that I would like for him forever, would
choose him forever.

I feared they might start fighting again, but I didn’t know what Christopher said that made Cecil immediately calm down, his demeanor tinged with resignation and weariness.
Christopher opened the car door, pushed me in, and then Cecil calmly said, “Mr. Valence, you’re only known this trick.”
The next moment, Christopher slammed the door shut with a loud noise, his sharp jawline betraying his emotions.
Cecil easily provoked Christopher.
Christopher commanded sharply. “Drive!”
I sat on the other side, tried the door handle, found it locked, and couldn’t open it. “I want to get out!”
Meanwhile, the driver had already started the car and was driving steadily out of the parking lot.
Christopher leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes as if he hadn’t heard my words at all.
I didn’t have time to think about it. I desperately tried to open the door handle, but it wouldn’t budge. In the next moment, a strong force pulled my back into the car. Christopher reached over me and shut the door firmly.
The car suddenly stopped.
Just as I steadied myself, I saw Christopher’s cold, lonely eyes staring at me, a mocking curve on his lips. “You want to go back to him like this?”
I couldn’t understand what Christopher was thinking. “I want to go home!”
“Go home or go to him?”
“Christopher, can’t you understand?”

Christophet coldly questioned. “Where did you go this morning?”
“None of your damn business!”
I pushed Christopher away and tried to get out of the car regardless.

“Hope Royston, you’re getting more involved with the Patel family. What’s next, marrying into it?” Christopher pressed.
I paused for a moment, then reacted. “Did you have someone follow me?”
No one knew about my visit to the Patel family that morning except for me, Cecil, and Abigail!
Christopher narrowed his eyes, not answering directly but asking instead, “I’ve told you that the Patel family is deep waters, Why didn’t you listen? Cecil has only been back for a short while, but on the surface, he’s at MS Group. In reality, he’s already marginalized Charlotte. Do you think he’s a simple man?”
I couldn’t grasp the full picture, but after a moment, I reacted, “That’s none of my concern either.”
Cecil hadn’t hidden anything from me; he had even told me that he was going back to the Patel family.
In the end, it was the Patel family’s fault toward Cecil and his mother, and Cecil was just taking what was rightfully his.
I looked at Christopher. “And even if he’s not simple, even if I was deceived into helping him, it’s none of your
concern.”

Christopher remained indifferent. “By the fact that I’m still your husband!”
Taking a deep breath, I spoke with a hint of mockery. “What kind of husband are you? Have you ever believed a word I
said?”

“And if not?” I challenged.
Christopher, touched his brow, his voice deep and smooth. “You’re not a baby anymore. You should know that even if you call the police, you need evidence for everything.”
“So are you a cop or my husband? I looked steadily at Christopher, asking as calmly as possible.
How could Christopher be so clear–cut, claiming to be her husband on one hand, yet never trusting me on the other?
A person shouldn’t be so divided.
Christopher tensed slightly, lips pursed lightly. “But they are not criminals either.”
I clenched my fists. “They are your lover and future mother–in–law, aren’t they?”
“Hope Royston, Evelyn Valence and L… Christopher began.
“Stop.” I interrupted.
I smirked him. And as for you and Evelyn Valence, I bet you’ve done more than just sleep together!”
Christopher’s aura turned icy, his words clear. “I have only been with you, no one else.”
I was taken aback.
She wanted to argue instinctively, but looking at Christopher’s expression, she couldn’t tell if he was lying.
I knew that delving into this wouldn’t lead to a clear conclusion. I turned my head and asked, “What did you say to Cecil just now?”
“Curious?” Christopher asked.
“Yes.”
Unfazed, Christopher replied, “I told him that a divorce application can be unilaterally withdrawn.”
I was instantly furious, gritting my teeth. “Christopher, you are despicable!”
Christopher was telling me, in essence, that he was also warning me!
As long as I went against Christopher’s wishes, he could cancel the application, and the marriage would never end.
