“Alright, you both can leave now,” Gina said.
Gabriel remained silent while Michael followed suit.
Glancing at the time, Gabriel spoke, “Gina, there’s still some business at the office. I’ll swing by later once it’s wrapped up.”
“Sure,” Gina nodded.
Gabriel and Michael left the hospital room one after the other, leaving Gina feeling weary as she drifted off to sleep.
Olivia left Prover Hospital, her heart pounding with fear. Her hand trembled as she took out her phone, nearly causing her to drop it. She needed to figure out her next move.
Gina realized the poison might have been procured for her by someone else. If she found out it was Mason, everything would be over.
Olivia thought, I lacked confidence in keeping Mason from revealing her involvement. I needed to find a way to silence him… Should I silence him permanently? I felt uneasy. Silencing him didn’t seem like a foolproof solution. Perhaps only death could truly seal his lips… Was I contemplating ending Mason’s life? I didn’t want to bear the weight of taking a life, especially before facing the inevitable perils of the underworld. I couldn’t risk paying with my life for Mason’s demise. Moreover, Andy had divulged details about the blond man to Gina.
Olivia’s mind felt like a whirlwind of confusion. There were too many complexities to untangle.
She focused on calming herself down and pondered her next move. Eventually, she resolved to contact the blond man. Messaging the number he had called her from, she arranged a meeting. [We need to talk. Not at my place.]
Returning to her rented room, Olivia received a message from the blond man, providing her with an address.
Without hesitation, Olivia set out once again.
She arrived at a bar.
Olivia located the private room where the blond man was seated. He lounged on the couch, leisurely sipping his drink, his. face still concealed. “What a surprise. Gina didn’t tear you apart. She just let you go.”
Olivia wasn’t in the mood to entertain the blond man’s banter. Getting straight to the point, she said, “The day you came looking for me, someone spotted you. They found you suspicious and informed Gina. Now, she probably suspects ye the one who poisoned me.”
The blond man’s demeanor changed. “What?” he exclaimed.
Recalling the encounter with Andy, he became agitated. “Why would he think I’m suspicious?”
“Because you were completely covered up, and your blond hair is too conspicuous, Olivia explained.
Just for that?” The blond man chuckled, rising to approach Olivia. Suddenly, he grabbed her by the throat. “Are you t to deceive me? Are you the one who told Gina about me?”
His grip tightened with each passing moment.
Olivia glared at him, her frustration evident. “What do I gain by telling her?”
“Didn’t you mention Gina’s keen interest in tracing Cole’s connections? Logically, you’d betray me to earn her forgiveness.”

“Why would I bother coming here to give you a heads-up?”
“To prevent any doubts from creeping in,” the blond man stated in a chilling tone.
Olivia erupted, “Enough of your self-righteousness! We’re in the same boat now, aren’t we? My grudge with Gina won’t vanish because I didn’t betray you. It’s a matter of survival between her and me!”
Olivia’s teeth clenched as she finished, her eyes filled with hatred on the verge of spilling over.
The blond man released Olivia. “What’s the name of the accuser
“Andy, he lives next door to me. Remember, you can’t come knocking on my door anymore,” Olivia coughed twice, rubbing her sore neck where she’d been choked.
“He can’t stay,” the blond man said casually, as if taking Andy’s life was as trivial as a speck of dust.
“You… you going to kill him?” Olivia asked.
“He’s messed with my plans,” the blond man replied with a hint of malice.
“If you kill someone, how do you deal with it? Olivia inquired.
The blond man looked at Olivia and chuckled, “What’s this? Are you trying to learn from me?”
Olivia pursed her lips.
I can make him disappear without a trace. Can you?” the blond man laughed.
Olivia remained silent.
The blond man grew curious. “Who’s on your h
hit list?
“The one who helped me procure the poison. If Gina finds out about him, she’ll eventually trace it back to him. Once she has evidence, she can send me to prison.”
In the past, Olivia had schemed against Gina, but Cina always managed to slip through her fingers. Otherwise, Olivia’s actions would have landed her in prison for years. Olivia used to Vescapes were just luck, but now she realized Gina had some skills.
Still, Olivia couldn’t fathom how Gina survived such a hefty dose of poison. It was beyond belief.
“Prison? What’s there to fear? I have ways to get you out as long as you’re alive. But you’ve got to be useful. You said you found the source, so where is it?”
Olivia’s heart skipped a beat. She had only mentioned finding a potential source in desperation, hoping to appea She hadn’t expected him to remember.

“And then he turns the tables and rats us out, putting us both in hot water. What then?” Olivia said.
The blond man fell silent for a moment. “You’ve thought this through,” he remarked. “I just hope you’re not all talk. Bu you’re as sure as you sound, then I’ll trust you’ve got your target lined up. Best bring him to me soon; organs in demand fetch quite the price.”

Though Olivia wasn’t sure of the blond man’s standing in the criminal underworld, anyone involved in such deadly dealings: must have significant power backing them. She could align herself with that power, use it to ensure her survival.
“Of course,” the blond man nodded. “If you perform well, excel even, I’ll be sure to reward you handsomely.”
