Chapter 20

“Nick...” I finally let a breath out. “What is all this?” I asked him, but I knew.

“Dance with me.” He pulled me close to him as soft music began to play from behind us. I wrapped my arms around his neck, his huge hands resting on my hips. I couldn’t take my eyes off the handsome wolf before me. “You look even more beautiful than I remember you did that night.” He leaned down and pressed his lips to my forehead. I smiled and leaned my head on his muscular chest. His hands slid up my back as we swayed back and forth to the music. He rested his head on mine as he hummed the country tune playing in the back.

Once the song was over, another played but he pulled back ever so slightly from me. We stared into each other’s eyes for a moment before Nick spoke.

“Our Mating Ritual was a little less than romantic.” We both chuckled. “I’ve wanted nothing more than this moment for longer than you can imagine.” I ran my fingers down his arms. The human in me was hanging onto every word he was saying, but my wolf only wanted his touch. “I can’t tell you why I held back for so long, Emma, but I knew the Mating Ritual was my last chance.” His thumb caressed my cheek in such a tender touch. “So, tonight I brought you back to where it began.” I smiled at him, trying to keep my emotions in check. “I know I’m a few hours early of our anniversary, but I knew tonight was the night.” My arm felt a cold breeze as his hand moved to his pocket. His eyes never left mine as he pulled out a tiny box and presented it to me as he dropped down to a submissive knee. I sucked a breath in with a small gasp as he opened the tiny box. My vision was blurred with the sparkle and shine of little diamonds surrounding a white gold band. Slightly larger diamonds worked their way up to the middle gem sitting perfectly surrounded by shimmers. The middle gem shined differently in the light and I instantly knew it was an emerald. Nick’s left hand held mine tightly as his right hand held this little box in front of me. When I woke up this morning, I had no idea this is where the night would take me. “Emma Rose Clark, will you give me the sole pleasure of allowing me to make you mine for the rest of time?” As I stared down at Nick on his knees, I couldn’t help but recall this same night just one year ago today. I stood in almost this exact spot, looking down on Nick’s wolf as I was looking down on him now. I had such hesitation of reaching down and claiming him as my own, and now he’s asking me to make it as permanent as it gets. But unlike that night last year, in this moment, I had no questions, no hesitations and no doubts in my mind.

“I wouldn’t dream of having it any other way.” I dropped down to my knees and cupped my hands around his face. “Of course, I will, Nick.” He closed the space between us and locked his lips on mine. If it weren’t for his hand finding a space on my back, I would have fallen into the mud. But instead, he gently lowered me to the ground and found his place hovering over me. His lips found mine once again and I devoured them hungerly. I glided my hands under his suit coat and pushed the fabric off his shoulders. His arm slid out from under me and let his coat fall from his massive arms. I didn’t care to preserve his white button-down shirt underneath it; my fingers ripped the fabric open from the seam and exposed his chiseled chest. I let a moan escape my lips as his own found my neck. I felt the zipper on my back release and suddenly the fabric was being pulled off of me until I laid in the dirt in only my black laced thong. But soon, that was thrown somewhere in the woods with the rest of our clothing. Nick’s naked body was once again hovering over mine, his eyes thirsty with lust. His thumb traced over my ribs while he locked his eyes on the new ink that covered his mate.

“It’s for you.” I whispered. His eyes darted up to mine.

“You marked yourself for me?” He questioned.

“You brought me here tonight because this place is so significate to not only our mating, but to our pack.” I reached up and brushed my fingers against the scruff of his beard. “You didn’t just choose me as your mate when you stepped into that ring, but you chose me as Luna for this pack. I wanted to show you how much that meant to me.”

“You have no idea what that means to me, little wolf.” He ran his thumb over the ink again, a grin plastered onto his face. The longitude and latitude of this exact place would be on my body for the rest of time. The moonlight was tickling our skin and I knew he felt the power of it just as much as I did. I grabbed his shoulders as my nails elongated into claws and sunk them into his skin. I flipped him over and pinned him to the ground on his back. My legs swung over his and I straddled his hips. His erection was ready for me and he growled lowly as his fangs poked out behind his lip. I leaned down and kissed him, permitting his fangs to piece my lip as we deepened the kiss. His hands held my hips as he thrust his own towards me, allowing his erection to penetrate my opening. We both moaned into our kiss, neither of us breaking our lips apart. I began rocking back and forth into his movements as the woods filled with the sounds of our lust. My chest was rising and falling so fast with each breath as my lungs tried to keep up with the rest of my body. Nick wrapped his arms around me and lifted me so effortlessly I felt like a cloud. Next thing I knew I was laying in the dirt again and Nick was on top of me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and moaned loudly as he regained entry inside of me. We found a rhythm together and thrust ourselves into one another. I felt a bliss bomb going off in my head behind my eyeballs and I couldn’t stop the screams that escaped my lips. I was coming off my high while Nick’s lips placed gentle kisses down my neck and chest; creating a trail as he went down. I closed my eyes and let my wolf take my mind over so she had a turn to play with our alpha.
