Out of nowhere, I find myself locked into the gaze of the most attractive pair of blue eyes I've ever seen, a strong scent of peppermint hanging in the air. It hits me that I'm still sprawled on top of this unfamiliar man, and I quickly scramble to my feet, feeling my face flush with embarrassment. "I'm really sorry about that."

"Worry not about it. Were ye just conversing with that lizard?" He asks, his accent and peculiar way of speaking barely registering in my mind. It dawns on me that I didn't get a glimpse of his past when I accidentally fell on him. It doesn't always happen when I touch someone, but it's always the case the first time I touch someone. That is so weird...

I grab his arm, expecting the usual awful vision to wash over me, but nothing happens. Confusion takes over as I stand there, looking like a complete idiot. And then it hits me even harder that this stranger is hot as fuck. Tall and muscular, clad in a black cloak, his hair matches the darkness of his attire and falls just above his captivating blue eyes.

"Ye are a Remembrance," he states, peering down at me. I release his arm and take a step back.

"What the hell does that mean?" I inquire, my voice laced with frustration.

He gives me a puzzled look. "What is a Remembrance?" I press him again.

"You see past," he simply replies.

"How do you know that? You can't possibly know that," I exclaim in disbelief. Only Juniper and Ethan are aware of my gifts. I haven't even told Jackson, my own twin.

"I sense it. It tis mine gift," he explains.

"You are a warlock? And why are you talking like that?" I ask, not bothering to hide my rudeness. This guy may be drop-dead gorgeous, but he's also very strange.

"Aye. This is how thy speak. Why doth ye speak like that?" He counters.

"Because this is how regular people talk," I reply. "And it's not safe to be all by yourself in these woods."

"Ye are alone in the woods," he points out. "I belike fight better than ye. What year is it? What dimension?"

"It's 2010. You're not making any sense. Maybe I should bring you back to The Sisters," I suggest, glancing back at the school.

"No, no people!" He exclaims, raising his voice at me and his eyes going wide with panic.

"Alright, dude, calm down. But don't yell at me like that!" I scold him in annoyance. I don't care how hot you are, don't fucking yell at me.

"Apologies. I have traveled through space and time. I need to gather meself someplace warm. Away from tis people," he explains, this time in a calm manner.

I pause for a moment, considering the cabin that's just a few minutes away from here. It's a hidden spot that nobody knows about since we're not supposed to leave campus. Thankfully, I've broken that rule countless times. "I know a place."

He follows me through the woods towards the cabin. I pull open the door, grateful that I had left a pillow, blanket, snacks, and firewood inside during my last visit. I enjoy spending the night here whenever I can get away with it. I place the firewood in the fireplace and take out my lighter, igniting the dry sticks and brush.

He gazes at my lighter with amazement, as if it's the most extraordinary thing he has ever laid eyes on. "I do not sense any fire magic within ye. How peculiar. How did ye do that?"

"It's not magic, it's a lighter. Look," I say, demonstrating by lighting it again. "Now it's your turn."

I hand him the lighter, but he struggles to ignite it, so I show him once more. Eventually, he manages to get it to light. "I created fire," he declares in confusion and excitement.

"Not quite," I giggle. "Anyone can do it."

"What is ye name?" He asks, handing the lighter back to me.

"No, you keep it. Just in case you need to start another fire," I suggest. "My name is Ember."

"Mine name Silas," he replies, tucking the lighter away in his cloak, his piercing blue eyes fixed on mine again.

"You asked what year it is. What year is it in your realm?" I ask, filled with curiosity about him.

"1718," he reveals proudly.

"Whoa, that's nearly three hundred years ago," I exclaim.

"Hath many furlongs art the kingdom of Hellspire?" He questions me, changing the subject and I can see him furrow his eyebrows.

"The kingdom of what? Buddy, I don't think we even have kingdoms anymore," I inform him.

"Mine name Silas." He says, looking confused again. Somehow, he's even hotter when he's confused. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"Yep. I got that." I tell him. "But I don't think this realm and your realm are the same." Being an Astral we only briefly started discussing other realms and dimensions. Something almost impossible to travel to, from my understanding. I'm not the greatest student though. "I have to go but you can eat some of the chips and candy in there." I point to my baggy of snacks.

"Ye will be back?" He asks, looking down at me intensely again, giving me goosebumps.

"Yes, I will return as soon as I can," I tell Silas, turning around and making my way out of the cabin. My mind is filled with thoughts of the mysterious 18th-century warlock from another dimension as I hurry back to the school before anyone notices me missing.
