Iris Hendrix.

I stared at both my mate and Elana and I can feel the growing tension that was between them. “What are you talking about, Jace?’’ I asked him, and when I looked at Walter, he bowed his head, avoiding any eye contact with me. While Jace and Elana were having a starring contest.

“Our beloved Elana here once belonged to this pack before she turned rogue due to a grave mistake that she committed.” Jace began, and a gasp left my mouth, I turned my attention to Elana, and I saw that her eyes started watering when she heard what Jace was saying.

“Elana?” Jace spoke to her in a voice that was so cold, that it send a shiver down my spine. And it took Elana a lot of courage to look Jace in the eye, and when she did, he continued. “Why don’t you tell Iris what you did to deserve such a serve punishment.”

“Jace, pl…please, don’t do this to me?” She begged him with a choked voice, but Jace just stood there motionless, and that is when she abruptly turned her attention toward Walter.

“Walter, you know that I would have never done that, right? Please! at least believe me this time.” She cried while she held his leg, and the entire scenario here was completely bizarre, meaning I didn’t know what was happening here.

“I know that my little sister would never do such a thing, but I must also say that my little sister died three years ago,” Walter said with no remorse, and I saw that his eyes were blank, and he held a stiff position, avoiding eye contact with Elana, and that is when something struck my brain, and I was at a loss of words at that moment.

No wonder she looked so familiar, she is Walter’s sister!

“What happened three years ago?” I heard myself ask, and all the attention in the room turned towards me.

“She is the reason why my grandma died in a car accident. It was not a car accident. After all, she was attacked by a group of rogues on her way back to the pack because someone from the pack has given out the information that my grandma was taking the most precious gem to keep it somewhere safe.” Jace said, and he let out a sinister laugh before moving closer to where Elana was standing.

“And the funny thing is that no one knew about what grandma was going to do that day, except for our little Elana,” Jace said.

“You have to believe me when I tell you that I never would have done such a thing to grandma, Jace.” Elana's voice broke at the end, but I can hear the pain in her voice.

“Don’t you dare call me by my name, rogue! I am Alpha Emerson to you.” He seethed, and I can see the devastated look on her face. And that is when I realized that this is the best time that I step in and handle the situation before it goes out of control, so I walked toward Jace and placed my hand on his tense shoulders, which made him turn around and look at me. And I can see the hatred in his eyes slowly vanish, and in its place, there was pain and longing.

“What she may or may not have done is in the past. But right now, she is Mike’s mate, and I think she has every right to stay here. And, I think we should talk about this issue some other time.” I spoke in a calm voice, and I nodded at him with a smile on my face.

“I will let this go for now, but just because you said so,” Jace said, which made the smile on my face grow.

“Walter, get a few guards to watch her while she is in pack grounds and report back to me, and if you see her doing something stupid again, lead her outside the border,” Jace instructed, and Walter nodded his head.

“And Elana,” Jace turned around to face her. “One more slip up, and I do not care if you have a mate here or not, I will throw you out from my pack again. Understood?” Jace asked, and she quickly nodded her head before she smiled at me and mouthed thank you, but I only smiled at her before turning away and looking at the closed doors of the operation theatre.

“So Iris, can you explain what happened?” Walter asked the same question again, and I nodded my head before I started telling him everything that happened.

“How stupid can you get, Iris? What if that guy stabbed you with that knife?” Jace raised his voice at me, and he was shaking due to all the anger that was waiting to burst.

“I know what the risks were before I went to help them, Jace. But you can see that nothing serious has happened to me, right.” I asked him, and he shook his head and placed his hand on my waist, and led me towards the emergency room.

“Next time, make sure to give me a call before you try to get into stupid stunts like that,” Jace warned me and made me sit on the bed that was there in the small room, and I nodded at him before he left me to go and find a nurse. While I was alone in the room, I looked around the all-white room to see that it only had a small bed with a curtain, and there was a small table on the side and a huge window that overlooked the forest ahead but other than that, this pretty much looked like a normal emergency room.

After about five minutes, Jace came back inside with a nurse who had a tray with all the medical equipment that she needs. “Hi, Miss. Hendrix, how are you feeling?” she asked me before she placed the tray on the small tray and examined my cut.

“The cut is painful, and I think I may have lost some blood but not too much that would be life-threatening, and other than that, I have a slight headache which is just beginning,” I said, and she nodded her head before she took some cotton and dapped it in anti disinfect and started cleaning my cut,and every time she touched an open wound, I hissed in pain and pushed her hand away from me.

“Alpha, I think you might have to hold her hand,” she said, and before I could protest, Jace held both my hands firmly in his.

“The cut looks deep to me, I think it needs a few stitches.” she acknowledged before turning to her tray to get a needle and a thread, my eyes widen, and my heart started to race. “Jace, please tell her I don't need stitches,” I begged him while I tried to wriggle out from his arm.

“Iris, if you don't get stitches, then the wound will not close properly,” Jace said, but I still shook my head, and before I could escape the room, Jace sat on the bed and pulled me to his lap and he firmly held my hands.

“Please, no!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, but there was no use.

“It's just a needle, Iris. Relax” Jace consoled me, but I didn't want to listen to him this time.
