Zenora
53. A Mage's Fury

Emily’s point of view:

“Are you alright love?” Brock asked me when he had put me onto my bed. I nodded, but I didn't feel good at all.

"I don't believe you, get here." He started hugging me and then tears started to form. I could barely held them in, but by feeling the warm arms around my body, I finally let out, all the stocked up emotions.

I screamed and cried, disbelief struck me that finally that gruesome man wasn't alive anymore to torment my dreams, mind and life. No more, was he able to bind myself to these awful thoughts. No more, could he say anything to remind me again of the foul things he did. He was dead, and I had made sure that it would be a painful one. I hope that even in the afterlife, he would still be afraid of me hunting him. I hope that he is in hell, filled with anguish and pain to torment.

For over an hour Brock let me cry, wetting his shirt. But he didn't care, he knew I had to let go.

Archeops knocked on the door and Brock told him to come in. "I brought Nicolai, as you asked. Is it okay for us to come in?"

Brock looked at me and he wiped the tears from my face, with the bottom of his shirt. I didn't know what this Nicolai was going to do here, but since Brock had asked for him, there must be a good reason. So, I nodded to Brock for them to enter.

“Nicolai, thanks for joining us here. Please take a seat.” Brock said to him, and he explained to me that Nicolai was one of the higher ranked mages in his army. He was about fifty years of age, as he had grey hair and a wise look upon his face. He seemed like a kind man to me, with his big belly and an even bigger smile.

My dad came walking in as well. He found out that the traitor was killed and wondered if we got some answers out of him. He was worried for me, and he wanted to know if there was someone in his castle that was conspiring against him or his precious daughter.

“Well, that’s why I’ve asked Nicolai here to join us.” Brock said and paused for a moment before looking at me. “You did something that I can’t explain to anyone here, could you please tell us what happened?” He asked me gently and I started to tell them.

I thought back to that specific moment when Archeops whispered to me, asking me why Brock should be asking about the book. Brock came in to listen to me as well and I had told that I have been reading his mind. But before I could tell what I had seen, I saw the knife rushing over towards Brock.

“I don’t know what came over me. In a split second I stood in front of the knife, holding it back with my hand. I know that Markus had used magic to levitate the knife, so he could have used more magic to hurt me, but I didn’t care, I wanted to protect you.” I said looking at Brock.

"You were the one who killed him? Not Brock?" My dad asked confused.

“Yes, my anger towards that traitor just took over. He had damaged me so much already and now he wanted to kill Brock as well? My body succumbed to the fire within and the next minute or two just happened in a blur. I don’t know how I did, what I did, but that moment when I snapped every bone in his body was really clear. All I could think of, was for him to die.” I said with my head bowed down, a bit ashamed of what happened. Also ashamed of the four men that were now looking at me with big eyes.

“I’m sorry for asking, but did she had red eyes?” I heard Nicolai ask Brock and I frowned at that. Red eyes? Brock nodded at his question and I looked at Nicolai, desperate for a reply.

“I’m not sure, but I think you’ve used an ancient power. I believe it’s called a ‘Mages Fury’ and for so far I was able to read about it, it’s only ever known to be around the most powerful mage of all time. Just one single mage had that ability, so it’s not something that is highly described as a true ability, it’s a legend, actually.” Nicolai had said.

Brock had asked if there was more information about it, but Nicolai said he read over a hundred history books and only once this ability was mentioned in just one paragraph. He’d never pursued to look further into that ability as it was not known to anyone else.

“I’ll travel to the Mage Tower and see if I can find out more, but don’t get your hopes up yet though. As I think that Brock and Arch have seen more, than there is written about this.” He said with a smile and wanted to leave the room.

“Nicolai, please be discrete. I don’t want this to be known amongst our enemies. You have my approval to search through any document, so if anyone intervenes with your research please let me know.” My dad said firmly at which he nodded and left the room.

He came to sit next to me on the bed, rubbing my back. “It’s okay hunny, you had the right to be angry. I knew you were a strong female, from the moment you got back to me. Don’t be afraid of what you are capable of, try to use it in your advantage.” He smiled slightly but I was scared, a lot. What if I couldn’t control myself? What if that Mages Fury took control of me?

“To bad though that you killed him before we got some answers.” Archeops suddenly said and the other men nodded.

“What? You don’t remember I told you that I had read his mind? Of course I have answers! In fact, I know exactly where they are!” I said to them and they all looked at me surprised, awaiting an explanation.

I had asked them to take me to the war room as there were maps and I needed those to explain it a bit better. So, without any further delay we went there.

I had asked where the old farm house was and the mountains I had spoken about. I noticed, it wasn’t really accurate as there was no field drawn between the ridges of the mountains, nor was the cave. So, I took a pencil and changed that. My dad had smiled, that I just did that without asking, but he didn’t say anything though. I could see where the border between our Kingdom and the Orcs' was and also the forests and fields, where I had spent most of my time.

In my visions I had seen a rebel camp, with both Orcs and Humans living together on a rocky terrain. Tents and small wooden houses were built along the base of a mountain. It looked temporary though, as all their supplies were stacked into big boxes that stood under the tents. The vision was quick and short, but I could’ve sworn to have seen a big black tail with spikes on it.

When I had told them about the rebels, they were appalled by the fact that Humans and Orcs were working together. Were they indeed conspiring against us, just as my dad had feared?

From the moment I had that vision, I knew exactly where the camp was, and I was astound that it was so close to where I have been for a few weeks. I also told them about the other vision, where a female mage had shown Markus where to find me. I was confused as to why only Markus showed up to get me. They knew where I was, because of that spell she did, so why not send all the rebels my way?

Brock and the others couldn’t answer that question, but they still wanted to know where the camp was. My finger pointed towards a place between the border and the mountains, behind the ridge that was on the other side of the field. “How do you know it is there? I mean it could be any ridge and any mountain in all of Zenora.” Brock said to me and it was a solid question.

But somehow, I knew that the loud roars I heard, when I was at the mountains, were well-fitted for a large creature with a black, spiked tail.
