67. History

When the evening came yesterday, we both headed back to the castle. It was really hard for me to not tell Brock about the pregnancy, but after some cuddling, I fell asleep. Emotionally tired, of what I did that day.

The next day, Cirilya trained me even harder than the day before. She had ordered some guards, to get training dummies and heavy objects to be transferred, to the clearing in the forest.

She made me create forcefields of different sizes, instantly at the moment that I formed them. Sometimes I could manage to do that, and made fields around the objects on the grass. But sometimes, I made them too small, so for example, the head of a dummy still stuck out.

“Well, if a shower of arrows came down, then at least his body won’t be hurt… The head is not the most important part, right?” Cirilya said with a lot of sarcasm.

I rolled my eyes at her at first, but then I thought about the possibility, that indeed a lot of arrows could be shot towards us. They would hurt several people at the same time, and so far we have only been training on single objects, not plural.

“Is it possible, to create multiple shields at the same time?” I asked her.

“You are powerful, I’ll give you that, but I’m not sure if that is a possibility. I know you have an ancient power, and abilities that no one has seen for over many years, but I’ve never heard of multiple shields from one mage.” Cirilya said to me, and I got a bit disappointed though. But before I could talk about it, she said something else already.

“There is some other thing that I wanted to tell you, and I’m not sure you are going to like it.”

She said, that she has been doing research together with her father, and found some information about an earlier ‘chosen’ person a few centuries back. Also, she knows some more information about the Mage’s Fury.

“As you know, specialities can be inherited by one of the parents. When both of the parents are of one speciality, then the child will get that too. But, if the parents have different specialities, then it’s for fate to decide, which one the child will get. Just like you, where your father is a warrior, and your mother was a hunter. Fate gave you the hunter powers. But, through all your former generations, your lineage has been mixed with all the other ones as well. Otherwise you weren’t been able to have all of the powers now. As fate made you the chosen, to have all of them at once. Although, I think that your pregnancy has something to do with that too.” Cirilya said, and I frowned at her.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, there is a chance that when you give birth to your baby, that one of your abilities will be transferred to it. As I don’t think, it is meant for you to have all three, for the rest of your life. The hunter part, will always be with you, as your hunters abilities are inherited from your mother. But the other parts are gifted to you, to enhance the Human race again. Besides the druidic part that is, which is mine now.” She stuck her tongue out, when she said that last part, and I smiled to her.

I wasn’t alarmed at all, to hear her say those words though. I mean, all these abilities that I have, are a bit too much. There are so many things, so much information, that I have learnt and gathered, over the past few months, that I had to take several moments for myself to gather all of my thoughts.

At first, there was this moment, when I ran into the forest on Earth, when Dennis told me that I’m a Princess. Then I found out that I got all these amazing hunter abilities, which were not seen in many years. Luckily, those abilities didn’t come all at once, but still, it was a lot to take in. Then the stone tablet, another hunter ability and the death of… Dolly. Followed by, my first time sex with Brock, saving Cirilya and getting tortured. Then I got the mage’s and warrior’s abilities to surface, and somewhere in between, I killed my torturer with an ancient ability as well! And to top it off, I got proposed, Bastet got pregnant, I got a new pet and then found out that I’m pregnant myself!

So, now that I got this information about my pregnancy, it didn’t make me flinch anymore. This was all too much for one person to bear, so I’m actually glad that I will lose some of the powers, to gift them to my children. I will be proud, to see them become strong, powerful young adults someday.

“But where does the Mage’s Fury come from then?” I asked her, as she said, she knows more about that too.

“Do you really want to know more about that? Can’t you be happy, with the information I provided you yesterday?” She asked me in return.

“Yes, I want to know more! I only wonder, why you haven’t told me everything yesterday already, as I could see in your eyes that there was more.”

“I’m sorry, I’m just not sure that it is my place to tell. But if you really want, I could tell you.” And I nodded to it, not being angry, just slightly disappointed. “Okay. Yes, well as Nicolai told me yesterday, he only found one bit of text, in which it says, that only one powerful mage was able to do that. But this is not entirely correct.” She paused for a long time, before continuing.

“My father, happened to know your great-grandmother, from about nine or ten generations back into your lineage. She was the last mage to ever show the Mage’s Fury. She told my father that she got the power from her mother, and in turn, her mother got it from her father. It is just an ability that is not much spoken about, because it is so devastating to use. It even killed your great-grandmother while using it the last time.” Cirilya bowed her head down, awaiting for my response, I guess that she thought that I would become angry. But when I didn’t, she looked up to me again.

“Aren’t you afraid? Or angry?” She asked me.

“No, I’m not Cirilya, because I know that you will always be by my side. You are a great friend, so I know you will always try to protect me. Besides that, even though you don’t like to tell me this, you know that I want to hear everything about it. I appreciate your reluctancy, trying to keep me from emotional harm, but I’m alright really. I could never get angry with you, or towards the things that happened before I was born.” I said to her and gave her a hug. But, I’m curious about the rest of the story, so asked her to continue.

Cirilya smiled gently to me, and continued her story.

“The Mage’s Fury is not a power based on anger, it is based on love. So, it will only surface if the ones you love, are in danger, thus making it the most powerful ability. Your anger towards the attacker will grow exponentially, only because you see your loved ones getting hurt. Your great-grandmother, just like you, had suffered a lot during her lifetime and the fury had surfaced accordingly, at which it grew in power with each time. So, you might understand, how much raw power your ancient relative had, when her husband got killed in front of her. At the end, when she had used up all her energy, to annihilate her husband’s attackers, she herself collapsed, and died from the burning emotions.”

Wow, this is such a sad story. I’m hoping, that I can hold on to the thoughts of my unborn child, to not get angered and endanger him or her. Will the beating of that little heart, keep my mind at ease? I know that it did earlier, but what if something actually happened, to one of my loved ones?

Cirilya tried to soothe me, telling me that she would stay next to me during the battle. To constantly be at the ready, to make me listen to my little baby.

“Want to start some more training? Maybe you could indeed, try to make one big shield, or several at the same time. But first you need to have control over the size first.” Cirilya said to me, when we laid in the grass, for I don’t know how long.

I sighed, but agreed to what she said. We should keep going, I need this training to keep me distracted and make me stronger.

“Yes, let’s continue.”

We trained all evening, Cirilya kept pushing my boundaries, getting angry sometimes and even sneering at me. I knew why she did that, I wasn’t angry at her for saying some of the things. She just wanted to help me, and by getting me angry, I was focused more on the task.

“Create a field with your left hand. Then keep your mind focused on it’s size, and create another field with your right hand.”

When I created the left shield, I tried to focus and created in my mind a copy of that bubble. But when I tried to create another shield with my right hand, the left one just dissipated into thin air.

“Emily! Keep focused! Or should I tell Brock, that you should stay at home? As you can’t even seem to create a simple shield!” Cirilya yelled at me. Oh that was a low one. I let out a slight groan at her, but she didn’t say a thing as response.

This went on for a lot more time, where I could only keep one shield up. It was either the left one, or the right one, but not two at the same time. I got aggravated and almost gave up.

“Let’s try something different. Emily, lift up that heavy wooden beam in the air, with a forcefield.” She said and I frowned at her.

“How am I supposed to lift such a big and heavy object?”

“You aren’t going to use your physical muscles, you have to use your mind! It’s just an object, don’t think about the size or the weight, as it is not of any importance.”

Okay, it is just an object, light as a feather. Right… ‘Keep focused Emily, you’ve got this!’ I said to myself in my mind. And after a few tries, I actually managed to get it up in the air! When it was about two, or three yards up, Cirilya did something stupid.

She stepped right under the heavy beam! What if I drop it? It will crush her body! This was her plan all along, pushing me to the edge by using her own body. Argh! Okay, now I really need to keep my mind straight. ‘Just keep it in the air, plain simple.’ I said to myself. Cirilya took a strange stance, she spread her feet, and pointed her arms straight towards me. With her hands formed into a cup, tilting to the side. What is she…

“No! Don’t you dare!” I screamed to her.

“Now you have no choice, but to create another shield!” Cirilya said, while transmitting white energy, filling the cup of her hands.

“I will shoot this lunar beam towards you. It won’t hurt you, but blind you for a few seconds, which will get you distracted. So, create a shield around me! You have three seconds!”

Shit! If I release the beam, it will drop on her, and I can’t move it to the side, as it might still reach her when falling down.

“One.”

And if I do nothing then I’ll probably drop the wooden beam, due to the blindness. So, she is forcing me to create a second shield, to keep her from shooting the lunar beam!

“Two.”

Fuck! I tried to force more energy, towards the field around the wooden beam, with my left hand. As I really wanted to keep it there in the air. And it worked, as I could see it appear more strongly. Then, with my right hand I pointed towards Cirilya, and focused on the image of the wooden beam in my head as well.

“Three!”

She started to focus on the cup of her hands, almost releasing the energy for the lunar beam. But in the last split second, I created another shield around her body. For a moment I thought that I had lost the wooden beam, as I could see the energy from that forcefield, diminish slightly. But it held on! And so did the shield on Cirilya!

The lunar beam hit the inside of the shield, and bounced off once, but then dissipated in her bubble.

I cursed Cirilya for being such a jerk, and telling her that she is crazy to do something like this. But, she got what she bargained for… Two shields were up!
