Chapter 79 

Yolanda and Howard only came over in the evening. When Annabelle saw them, she greeted them reluctantly. She had always treated them cordially, yet they were plotting against her behind her back. 

How could they do this to her?

However, she disliked them too, so she was happy that Annabelle felt the same way. 

Elizabeth, too, snorted at them before chasing after Annabelle. She wanted to ask Annabelle what had happened in the afternoon. 

“She actually investigated my background. She inquired about everything ever since I was a child. It’s fine for her to investigate, but a lot of information she found was incorrect.” Thinking of this, Annabelle felt very angry. Only Lucas was wise enough to not believe the information. It was a good thing he was not deceived by both of them. Someone els would have thought that there was something wrong with Annabelle’s character when they read the report. They might even divorce if the matter got too serious. 

Annabelle was boiling with rage at the thought of it. 

At first, she only wanted to have a stable home for the sake of her unborn baby. Ever since she started spending time with Lucas, Annabelle felt that he was an exceptionally good man. She no longer just liked his face. She wanted his body and heart as well. 

There was also the Walker family, such as Annabelle’s grandparents–in–law, her parents–in–law, and also Benjamin and Elizabeth. She liked every one of them. As she had lost her parents‘ love, their love for her made up for it.

“You are a lady. You shouldn’t talk like that!” When Annabelle heard Elizabeth say the word ‘damn, she frowned. “You still have to find a boyfriend and get married.” 

Elizabeth was indignant. “I can’t find a boyfriend just because I said that word? Is this what matters?” 

“Let’s not talk about whether I can find a boyfriend now.” Elizabeth waved her hand dismissively. “That woman did such a despicable thing. Don’t you want to teach her a lesson?” 

Annabelle shook her head. “Lucas said to leave this matter to him. He will handle it.” 

When Elizabeth heard this, she was outraged. “You’re so useless. They’ve got too far and bullied you this time. You’re still so dumb and don’t want to retaliate.” 

Annabelle felt helpless. “I don’t know how to argue with them.” 

“What’s the point of quarreling?” Elizabeth said disdainfully, “Arguing is the most useless thing to do.” 

“What else can I do? Am I supposed to fight with them?” Annabelle looked at her stomach. She had never fought in her life. Besides, she could not fight in this state. 

“You’re really stupid!” Elizabeth expected better from Annabelle. “Do you think she will dare to fight with you in our house? If she wants to fight with you, Lucas, will slap her against the wall so hard that Howard won’t be able to help her.” 

Annabelle imagined that scene in her head and could not stop laughing. 

Looking at Annabelle laughing. Elizabeth also chuckled. She was speechless. This woman was so easily contented. Elizabeth wondered how she could have taken Annabelle for a gold digger in the past. 

“I know!” Annabelle suddenly thought of an idea. Her eyes widened as she looked at Elizabeth. 

“What do you know?” Elizabeth looked at her with a puzzled expression. 

“We can’t hit or scold her. I also can’t pour a glass of water on her face, right?” Annabelle whispered. “She’s still Lucas‘ childhood friend. Won’t I appear to be rude if I do that to her?” 

“That’s all you know?” Elizabeth looked at her with disappointment. 

“Wait, hear me out.” Annabelle patted Elizabeth’s hand to pacify her. “Let’s scare her, just like how you scared me back then. Where’s that fake rat? Do you still have it?” 

At the mention of that incident, Elizabeth felt a little awkward. She coughed uncomfortably. When she saw that Annabelle was still looking at her expectantly, she hurriedly said, “How can I possibly still have it? I lost it long ago.” 

At that time, she did not like Annabelle as she thought the latter was a gold digger. She played such an evil prank and got into trouble because of that. Elizabeth did not dare to keep the fake toy rat anymore. 

“Then there’s no other way.” Annabelle said, “Why don’t we forget about it? Anyway, my husband will talk to her about it.” 

“You said it yourself. She’s your husband’s childhood friend. How harshly can he treat her? Maybe he’ll just tell her off casually. It’s fine if it’s your

“No!” Annabelle’s tone was firm. “My husband is not like that.” 

“Yes, yes, yes. Your husband is the best in the world. He’s different from other men.” Elizabeth rolled her eyes. However, she was still bent on seeking revenge on Yolanda. “Let’s go and find something else. There are no rats, but there are other things we can scare her with.” 

Elizabeth then brought Annabelle to the storage room. The huge room was filled with all sorts of things that Elizabeth played with her brother when 

they were young 

Annabelle looked at the toys and tried to guess which were the toys Lucas used to play with. She smiled just thinking of him playing with them. 

“I found it!” Elizabeth was rummaging through the cabinets and suddenly shouted. 

Annabelle looked up and was shocked by what Elizabeth was holding in her hand. Fortunately, she was well prepared and did not appear to be frightened. 

Elizabeth ran over to Annabelle. “How about this? This thing will definitely scare her to tears.” 

Annabelle looked at the fake toy snake in Elizabeth’s hand and got very curious. What kind of elders would get such toys for the children in the Walker family? It was either a fake toy rat or a fake toy snake. Most importantly, they all looked very real. 

“Will it scare her too much?” Annabelle asked worriedly. 

“No,” Elizabeth said without hesitation. “She’s not pregnant. Besides, she’s been frightened many times and knows about all these tricks. At most, she will cry out loud.” 

“Then do we still put it in her pocket?” Annabelle had no experience in pranking others and asked uncertainly.

Annabelle quickly raised her hand. “We’re in this together.” 

When Elizabeth heard this, she went downstairs with her evil plot, feeling assured. 

Annabelle also left the storage room. She did not dare to run like Elizabeth. After all, she was pregnant. When she reached the second floor, Elizabeth was already back. 

“Why are you going down? Don’t be silly. We need to create an alibi!” Elizabeth said as she pulled Annabelle back to her room.
