Chapter 83 

Annabelle was momentarily angry at the thought of this possibility. “Don’t ever think of having your cake and eat it too. Otherwise…” 

Before Annabelle could finish speaking, she bumped into Lucas‘ back while walking. Shocked, Annabelle instinctively reached out to protect her 

stomach. 

Lucas was also taken aback and reacted quickly. He turned around and put his arms around her waist. 

“How are you? Did you hit your tummy?” Lucas did not notice that she was night behind him. If he had known, he would not have stopped so abruptly. 

Annabelle shook her head. She managed to stop in timer but her head knocked onto Lucas‘ back.

Lucas looked at her reddened nose and did not know whether to laugh or cry. He pinched it and asked helplessly. “I’m only going to take a shower. Why are you following me? Do you want to shower with me?”

Annabelle turned around and said angrily, “Aren’t you going to take a shower?” 

“I’m in no hurry to shower” Lucas‘ expression was normal. “Let’s continue to discuss what you just said.” 

“What did I just say?” Annabelle looked up at Lucas and asked innocently.

“If you want to have your cake and eat it, I’ll do the same,” she said matter-of–factly. “I’ll eat as many as I can.” 

Lucas sneered and reached out to pinch her cheek. He said coldly, “You’re so capable now. Come, tell me, which cake do you intend to eat?” 

“I have many choices!” Annabelle declared with a smile. “Look, Noah is so much better than you. Moreover, he knows so many celebrities. I’ll ask him to introduce them to me.” 

“Wow, you’re quite ambitious. Why don’t I introduce some celebrities to you too?” Lucas‘ anger dissipated, and he let out a laugh instead..

“No! I’m not in the wrong” Annabelle insisted. She was hoping that Lucas would not go overboard because she was pregnant. It would not do him any good if he hurt his own child. 

Lucas carried her to the bed and decided to teach her a lesson. However, in the end, he lowered his head, promising that he would not two–time her. She was his one and only cake. 

Annabelle was satisfied. “Me too!” 

“Hmph! I think you don’t intend to let me help you write the self–reflection essay at all.” Lucas left her and got up to walk to the bathroom. 

At the mention of the punishment, Annabelle immediately cowered and tried to get up from the bed with difficulty. 

Seeing this, Lucas, who had already walked far away from the bed, hurriedly went back and held her onto the bed. 

“What are you going to do now?” 

“I beg you. Please!” Annabelle looked at him and said, “I really need you to write the self–reflection essay for me.” 

“How do you intend to beg me to help you?” Lucas looked at her for a long time with his eyebrows raised. 

“Shall I help you bathe?” Annabelle blinked and asked uncertainly.

His gaze was flickering, but when he saw her big belly, he regained his composure. 

Lucas thought, “I’ll deal with you after you give birth.” 

“Lie still!” 

Annabelle lay on the bed obediently. When he came over to the bed after taking his shower, she got up to help him dry his hair. He then sat on the bed to write the self–reflection essay. 

“Will you still play such silly tricks on others?” Lucas seemed to have written many such essays in the past. He seemed adept at writing the 

self–reflection essay. 

Annabelle was drying his hair and did not notice him writing the essay. When she heard his question, she immediately shook her head. “I won’t do it 

anymore!” 

“You’ve been frightened before. As the saying goes, do unto others what you want them to do to you. If you dislike being frightened, how can you frighten others?” Lucas admonished Annabelle as he continued writing the letter. 

After listening to Lucas‘ reasoning, Annabelle quickly shook her head. “It’s different. These are two separate matters. When I was frightened at that time, I didn’t do anything wrong. It’s different this time. Yolanda was the one who tried to hurt me.” 

Lucas asked, “If you take justice into your own hands and punish the criminal, why do we need the police for?” 

“We didn’t call the police because she’s your childhood friend. It’s just a small punishment,” Annabelle said guilty. Besides, the police would not bother with such a small matter. 

Lucas sneered, “I realize that you’re getting smarter.” 

“Hehehe. You taught me well.” Annabelle beamed.

Right now, she just wanted to raise her child well and open a flower shop. She wanted to have money to spend and someone to love. 

“By the way, does that woman like you? Is that why she tried to slander me?” Annabelle asked as she brushed his hair with her hand. It was almost dry, so she stopped wiping it. She put down the towel and sat down beside him. She watched him write the essay. 

“How can that be?” Lucas said without thinking. “She might just feel a little resentful.” 

“Why should she feel resentful?” Annabelle was curious. “Is it because you are married, and she’s still single?” 

Lucas could not help but laugh when he heard that. 

“Probably.” Lucas did not explain any further. Yolanda was most likely resentful because, in the past, she was the only woman among the group of friends. Although men liked her and protected her, Lucas now had to make Annabelle his priority since she was his wife. 

Yoland might have done what she did to Annabelle because she could not accept the change in Lucas‘ attitude. 

Lucas did not think Yolanda would like him. It was impossible to hide one’s feelings for someone. 

Whenever Yoland looked at him, he saw everything in her eyes but love. Of course, he did not like her either. 

Love could develop over time, and that also depended on the individuals. Some people would become more likable to each other as they spent more time together. Some people might have known each other for a lifetime but could only remain friends.
