Off to Mountain of Death

The group walked for hours till they saw mountains that were dark and creepy looking and the smell of death coming from the mountains. Peter looks up at the mountain and wonders why the mountain feels an unwelcoming feeling. Sam stood next to Peter and looked up at the mountain as well.

“This is the mountain of death.” Sam told Peter while Peter glanced at Sam before looking at the mountain again.

“Why is it called that?” Peter asked.

“Some say whoever goes in those mountains doesn’t come back out alive or they went missing.” Kate said, with her arms crossed and standing next to Mike.

“I heard from my kin that a monster lives in those mountains and they kill whoever goes in there.” Zozo said while Jojo nodded.

“Well, whoever the story is, we just need to figure out how to get to the other side.” Mike said.

“Wait, we are going through it?!” Jojo yelled.

“Yes, we can’t go around it. That would take more days, plus we need to get to the kingdom of the sky. Who knows how long the stairs will be there?” Sam said, while Mike and Kate nodded.

“Alright then, get ready for anything that might happen. Magic potions, spells, weapons, and other things that you think you need out.” Peter told them.

With that, they got potions and spells ready and their weapons out, including rope, just in case they needed it. Once they’re done, they head into the mountain. The mountain moaned from the wind and drips of water being heard from the wet rocks dripping down into a river that has a calm current. The group stayed close to each other while keeping their guard up just in case something pops out and attacks them. Zozo and Jojo were leading the way as they are mountain dwarves and they can tell which path is good to walk on and which path is bad to walk on. Kate and Zoey were walking together as they talked to each other (like girly talk) while Sam and Peter were behind them, with Mike right behind Sam and Peter.

“So Peter, have you ever thought about home?” Sam asked Peter as Peter thought of his home.

Peter thought of his father, who was a funny man but also a genius, his mother who is loyal and kind. The three older brothers that stick together like glue and work at the same place (that they are the business managers of the same company) and his little sister, who always have a dark mind but yet always be there for you when you are feeling down. Peter misses his world and wonders if his friend or family found out that he is missing or they thought he’s kidnapped and killed. With a sigh, Peter put on a smile and looked at his good friend.

“I miss my home, but I am glad to make new friends in this world and go on these awesome adventures. Plus, seeing a new world that I have never heard before till I came into it.” Peter said with a smile, but it did not show in his eyes as they miss his home dearly.

Sam smiles at him as he can tell what Peter is feeling. He also misses his homelands that were taken by Draken from a stupid war with his kin. Mike walked up to Sam and Peter and said in a low, soft voice.

“Just to inform you, but I see eyes above us,” Mike whispered as Peter and Sam looked up and saw yellow and red eyes looking down at them.

“Sam, warn the others.” Peter whispered while Sam did a nod and walked up to the others and warned them about the eyes and they slowed down a bit.

Everyone grips their weapons as they are tense about the eyes that are watching them every move. A loud rumble was being heard and they turned their heads to the directions of the rumble and saw that rocks were rolling down from the mountain tops.

“Run!” Mike yelled, and they all ran for it.

They run fast but have to block from rocks being thrown at them till one rock hits Kate in the head hard and she falls down. Mike and Sam stopped and helped her up before a rock from above came down at them.

“NO!” Peter yelled till Zoey ran towards them and with a flash she transformed into her snake self.

Blocking the rock and lifting it with her tail, she threw the big rock to the eyes as they screamed, and the eyes disappeared as the rock crashed into the side of the mountain. Zoey moved her tail and whipped the side of the mountain as it shook it and more screams coming from the eyes as it looked like they were running away. The rumbling stopped. Zoey looked around with her white eyes before transforming back into her human self. Mike picked Kate up in a bride style and Mike with Sam and Zoey walked over to the rest of the group.

“Is Kate okay?” Zozo asked with worry in her voice.

“I think so, just a good hit in the head. She needs a proper doctor to check her head to make sure she doesn’t have a concussion.” Mike said.

“I think there is a town nearby when we get out of this mountain.” Jojo said, while the others agreed.

They moved on throughout the mountain till they saw a light coming from the end of the trail. Zozo and Jojo stopped. So did the others, as they wonder why Zozo and Jojo stopped and they look down and they see why. It was a deep cliff with a pitch black darkness. They looked around for anything to get across but found none. (Not even Zoey can get across with her snake form.)

“Great, now what should we do?” Sam asked while still looking down at the darkness of the cliff.

They all think about what to do to get across till Peter sees something on the other side of the cliff. Squinting his eyes as he saw a horse, but not just any horse, the unicorn he met when he came into the world of Zarlakarla. The unicorn huffed and lifted on its back legs while waving their front hooves and with a bright light coming from its horn a bridge appeared. Everyone was shocked to see a bridge until they saw the unicorn before it ran away.

“Was that?” Zozo said while pointing to where the unicorn was at.

“A unicorn?!” Jojo hollered with excitement.

“I can’t believe that it made a bridge for us,” Mike said with awestruck.

“Come on, you guess, before something happens to the bridge!” Sam called out as he walked on the bridge with Peter.

Zozo and Jojo were right behind them with Zoey and Mike following with Kate in his arms. When they got to the other side of the bridge, the bridge magically turned into white dust. They all sighed, as they were glad to leave the mountain of death. Peter led the way as the opening of the light of the mountain shone with a bright light. Once they stepped into the light, they saw the other side of the mountain with new trees, lands, and hills. Walking further out from the mountain cave like thing, they can see a road leading to a village that they can see not too far from where they are.

“Look at the village! Maybe a doctor is there and can help us with Kate.” Mike said as the rest agreed.

“Come on, then.” Sam said and walked on the road with Zozo and Jojo at his sides.

Mike was not too far away from Sam as he held Kate close to his chest, while Peter and Zoey stood there.

“Thank you for saving them.” Peter said, while looking at Zoey as she smiles.

“Anytime. You are like my new family, and I promised I will protect you. So that means I will protect you all from any danger.” Zoey said, while walking off to join the rest.

Peter stands there as he watches her walk off to join the others, he looks back at the mountain as he can see the eyes looking at him before going away.
