Chapter 29

Colter's POV

I waited until they were gone to make any noise. I didn't want them to see me in pain, but I was. Every breath hurts more than the last one. I couldn't even move without wanting to scream out.

“Grey you, their buddy?"

“Ya, but I'm weak the bullet has silver in it. I am not sure how much because it seems to be taking a while to work but it defiantly has some.”

“What do I need to do?”

“Can you take it out?”

Oh, goddess please be on my side. I don’t know if I can do this, but I had to try. I stuck my fingers in the wound and started screaming. It was so painful that I was barely breathing and seeing black spots. I kept digging until I felt something hard. I grabbed a hold of it and yanked. The pain was so intense that I blacked out.

“Colter, baby wake up. Please wake up. I need you to open your eyes for me."

I could hear her, but I couldn't get my eyes to open or say anything. I still hurt so bad that I couldn't move. I could hear her start to cry. She laid across my chest crying, I instantly felt sparks wherever she was touching. It brought a new strength to me. I tried so hard to open my eyes but couldn't. She started to stroke my face as she continued to just lay on me crying. “Has he been awake?” I could hear Julian ask.

“No, he is still breathing but won't open his eyes or talk to me” Alexa said.

“OK, let's get him to the hospital” Julian said.

I don't know who was all here, but I was being lifted up and moved. I felt myself being laid down on a bed. People were talking all around me. Mac was answering a lot of questions.

“Colter, baby I will be here when you get out of surgery. Please stay strong, I need you. Jade needs you and your pack needs you." Alexa said as she leaned down and kissed my cheek.

My mind was getting fuzzy. They must have given me something to go to sleep. I didn't fight it and just gave into the blackness.

I started to hear a steady beeping noise. It was annoying as fuck. Someone needed to turn it off. I tried to open my eyes, but I'still couldn't. I could feel the sparks in my hand where Alexa must have been holding it. It always made me feel good when felt it. It made it a little less scary. I can’t understand why I can’t make my eyes open.

“Grey, you there?” I mind linked my wolf.

“Yes, and you need to wake up. So much has happened.”

“How long have I been asleep?”

“A week.

“What the hel? A full week?”

“Yes, I have been trying to get you to wake up, but you wouldn't budge. Alexa hasn't left our side at all. She needs to rest, and she will only do that once she knows your OK”

“I am trying but I can't open my eyes or move any part of my body. How do I wake myself off"

“I don’t know just open them.”

I stopped talking to him because he wasn't helping me any.

“Baby, I will be right back, I am just running to the bathroom.” Alexa said as she kissed my cheek.

I could hear her walk away and I wanted nothing more than to open my eyes. I took some deep breaths and tried really hard to move my hands, but it didn’t work. I groaned in my head in frustration because I certainly couldn't do it out loud. Someone opened the door and walked in while Alexa was in the bathroom. I am guessing it was Mac by the smell. Alexa opened the bathroom door and walked out.

“Any change today?” Mac asked

“No, nothing. The doctor said the test they ran yesterday didn't show anything wrong. They don't know why he isn't waking up. He is breathing on his own and had complete brain function so there is no explanation for all of this.” Alexa said.

“So weird. He will wake up I know it. Why don't you go back to the pack house and shower and get a nap and I will stay here with him.”

“Thanks, but I am not leaving him."

“I figured you would say that. Go shower in there, here is a bag of clothes.” Mac said.

“Thank you."

I could hear her walk away and a door shut.

“Colt, man I don't know what is going on, but you have to wake up. Things are not the same without you and frankly I am tired of doing your job. I hate doing paperwork.”

That asshole would say that. He was never one to do paperwork. He always bitches about it whenever he has had to do it. I heard the door open again and someone walk in.

“Hello Doctor. Anything new today?” Mac asked.

“Not really but I was talking with another doctor, and they remember a case like this a long time ago and there was something that woke them up.”

“What is that?”

“Let's wait for Alexa and I will tell you both at the same time."

How is this happening? I don't understand why this is happening. Goddess I am so angry right now and I can't do anything which just pisses me off even more. I finally heard Alexa open the bathroom door and her scent was increased with the steam that came out of the bathroom. It eased my frustration.

“Hey doctor, what is going on? You already did your daily check up on Colter, I wasn't expecting you again. Wait do you know how to wake him up?”

“Well, I was talking with another doctor who remembered a case similar to this one and they were able to wake her up when her mate marked her”

“I can't mark him against his will. I won't do it, so you better find another way." Alexa yelled.

She can mark me right now. I want her too. I was ready to mark her when I first laid eyes on her, shit I almost did. Please Alexa just do it I promise I won't be mad. I thought to myself.

“Grey, can you reach Jade?” I linked my wolf.

“No were not marked.”

“Alexa, are you sure about that? I know for a fact that he wouldn't be mad” Mac said.

Yes, Alexa listen to Mac. He knows what he is talking about. I was so tired of talking to myself and Grey. I just wanted to see her beautiful face.

“No, I am sorry. He almost forced his mark on me, but I was able to stop him and right now he has no choice, and I won't tak that away from him."

“I understand Alexa but please think about it because his body is going to waste away laying here and we can only provide him with so much nutrients but him and his wolf will slowly start to die” The doctor explained.

I could hear her start crying and she came over and laid down beside me and laid her head on my chest. I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and comfort her. Everyone left the room but her and she stayed on my bed with me. I could feel her breathing slowly even out and I am guessing she was asleep.

“Moon goddess if you can hear me, please let me open my eyes. This is torture. You gave me a mate and now you're slowly taking me away from her. Please don't do this. Give me the strength to open my eyes." I prayed to the moon goddess; I didn’ know what else to do.

I'shut my mind off and fell asleep. I was walking around in blackness. This was new, I could always sense light when I was awake but not awake. I don't feel the tingles from Alexa anymore, in fact I don't feel anything anymore. Oh, goddess did I die I must have died. Suddenly there was a bright flash of light and a woman was literally floating towards me. She was beautify ethereal even. She wore a long white dress with golden hair and bright green eyes. I didn’t move, I was rooted in my spot in utter shock. I think I am looking at the moon goddess.

“Hello my child."

“Moon goddess is that you?”

“Yes. My child and you called me here, how can I help you?"

“I can't open my eyes; I can't move ever since I got shot. Am I dead or am I dying?”

“Not yet, you are stuck in between worlds. You either have to let go of Alexa and be with your parents or you need to let go of your parents and be with Alexa”

“How do I do that; I love them both."

“You can continue to love them both, but you harbor hate in life because of your parent's death and some of that hate still extends to Alexa. If you chose her, you could have an amazing life together.”

“So, once I chose, I will be able to wake up”

There was another bright light, and she was gone, and I was left alone. I could feel the sparks in my hand and knew that Alexa was holding it. She had gotten off the bed and moved to a chair.

“Colter, I don't know if you can hear me, but we are going to move you back to your pack. It's time to go home. I will be with you the whole time. Please don’t make me mark you because everyone is telling me to do it all ready. I can't force that on you, but I also won't survive losing another mate. I need you.” She leaned down and kissed me after she said this. I could fee the wetness on her face, she was crying again.

I heard people come into the room and she stepped back. I could hear them doing a bunch of stuff around me and then suddenly they lifted me up and put me on another bed and I could feel them moving me. They had made it outside I could feel the outside air hitting me and it felt amazing. The warm sunshine kisses my skin and warms me up, not that I was cold, but it felt amazing.

I knew I wanted Alexa but letting go of my parents was hard. My goal since their death when I was thirteen was to kill the family involved for killing them. When I got the deal to get Alexa, I never intended on killing her, but I was going to make her miserable and then she was my mate. What a cruel world to make me give up the one thing I wanted and that was to kill Alpha Robert. I had to let that go but couldn't just yet.

I felt the sparks start up in my hand and knew that Alexa was with me again. She really hasn't left my side.

“Colter baby, were on our way back to your pack now. Mac said everyone is excited for you to be home even if you're not awake. I met a few people from there before I found you. Also, I met Lauren.”

She let out a laugh when she said that, and I can only imagine what Lauren did when she learned about her. She always thought she was my girlfriend, but I never really stopped it. Great another fire that needed put out.

“She snuck into your room while I was staying in there. I had to call Mac to make her leave. She is a real peach. I also slept ir your bed. Your scent helped calm me and I may have stolen your shirt and slept in it”

She got quiet after that, and it was a peaceful drive back to my pack. They pulled up somewhere. I don't know if they are putting me in my bed or back in the hospital. I was pulled out of the vehicle I was in, and the sunshine was hitting me again. Iwish I could tell them to let me sit in the sunshine for a while, but I couldn't yet. I really had to decide what to do. I know deep down what I want but it was hard for me to let go.
