Chapter 30

Alexa’s POV

The fight was over. Mac, Julian and Luca handled it on their own, while I found Sloane and Liam and eventually Colter. My da took off during the fight and nobody has seen or heard from him since. My mom is locked up and when I challenged my brother for the pack he stepped down. I knew he was weak, but I thought he might protest a little bit. Unless he knows something else and is protecting my dad or Robert or whatever he is.

The council came in and they are currently overseeing everything until Colter is better and we can figure out what to do. When I saw him, my heart sank to my stomach. He was so white from blood loss and not responding to me. I wanted to curl up and die with him. I can't go through the loss of another mate. I wouldn't. If he died than I would die.

After a week of being in my old packs hospital I had him taken to his hospital so that his people could come and visit. Nobody knew why he wasn't waking up. All of his tests were not normal. Jade and I talked a lot about what to do. One doctoy said to mark him it's been known to wake them up, but I refuse to do that. I have a witch coming in today to see if she could do anything.

Mac helped me find her since we really didn't work with them. We just avoided each other but sometimes in extreme circumstances you could find one to help. It's been two weeks now since he got shot and each day his body gets a little mor fragile. The doctors are really pressing me to try and mark him. I won't do it unless he is dying and we're not there yet. She i supposed to be here in the next hour. I have been just sitting here holding Colters hand. I can feel the sparks anytime I toucl him, but he doesn't respond.

Moon Goddess if you can hear me, please don't take him from me. I need him. I have already lost one mate and I can't go through that again. If he goes then I go to. I will take my own life. I don’t want to live without him.

I prayed to the moon goddess, if she heard me, I hoped that she would give me this. I would do anything to have him back. I heard someone knock on the door and Mac and a lady walked in.

“Alexa, this is Lane. She is the one who has agreed to help us.” Mac said.

I got up to shake her hand.

“Nice to meet you, Lane. Thank you so much for agreeing to come and do this. What do you need from us”

“I will need you two to step out of the room for a few minutes. I would like to look into his soul and in order to do that it must just be him and I.”

“Will it hurt him?” I asked.

“No, he won't feel a thing”

Mac and I just nodded and walked out the room and stood in the hallway. As soon as the door closed, I broke down crying. Each day was getting harder and harder. Jade barely talked right now, and I could feel her suffering not being able to help her mate. Mac pulled me into him and just hugged me.

“Mac, he has to wake up. Please tell me he is going to wake up?” I sobbed into him.

“Lex, he will, he is strong”

We just stood there holding on to each other. I couldn't stop crying. I wanted to know what the witch found but I was also scared of what she found. I was scared she was going to tell us there was nothing that could be done, and he would die or b a vegetable the rest of his life. It didn't matter I would be by his side no matter how this turned out.

Lane finally stepped out of the door and walked over to us.

“Can we talk somewhere?” She asked.

“We can go back into his room, or do you need somewhere else?”

“His room should be fine” She said and we followed her back in there.

I walked to the bed and gave Colter a kiss on his cheek and sat down in my chair and held his hand while Lane and Mac stayed on the other side. Mac and I just stared at her waiting for her to start talking.

“He seems to be stuck. His soul is stuck in between here and the other realm. He has to choose to be live or to die and for whatever reason he can't” She said.

“What do you mean he is stuck, and he has to choose?” Mac asked.

“It means that he was close to dying and the moon goddess has given him a choice about where he wants to be, and he can’ decide.”

“I am so confused, but ok” Mac said.

I understand perfectly. He had to choose to be with me or someone else that was important to him that has died.

“Is there anything that we can do to help him?” I asked.

“No, it has to be his choice, but the longer he waits the harder it will be for him to get anywhere. If he doesn't choose soon, he could be stuck there forever.” Lane said.

“Thank you so much Lane” I said as I crawled in bed with Colter and snuggled up to him.

“Lane, let me walk you out” Mac said as he led her out of the room.

“Colter Baby, I need you to make a choice and if you need to go to the other side, I am ok with that and I will meet you there You just can't take too long to decide because otherwise you will be stuck like this, and if that happens it will be ok too. I an not leaving you ever.” I told him as I just laid there with him.

I could feel my eyes getting heavy. My sleep schedule was so screwed up since I have been staying here with him. I slept for few hours at a time and usually only when I was in bed with him. I woke up a few hours later and found Mac in a chair besid the bed sound asleep. I got out of bed and nudged him awake, to tell him to go home and sleep.

“Mac, go home and sleep. Someone has to get a good night's sleep.”

“I came to talk to you. The pack is getting restless about this. They want to meet you. You are supposed to be our Luna and they are nervous about the future of the pack. You need to talk to them and put them at ease.”

“Fine call a meeting for first thing in the morning but just know that it will be kept short. Do you need help with anything else? I can take on some of his responsibilities.”

“Actually, there is some stuff that you could help with. Can we meet after you meet the pack?”

“Yes, can we do it here. I don't like to leave him long”

“Yes, I will have some stuff brought over”

“Can you have someone send over some jeans and a nice top for me?”

“Yes, I will be here at nine thirty to get you.” He said and walked out of our room.

I crawled back into bed with Colter and closed my eyes. I thought about the life we could have together. I wanted to have pups with him and lead this pack. I wanted all the things life could give you with him. I know I don’t know him very well but our date we had felt right. Everything was working out before that horrible wreck and him being taken.

I felt my eyelids closing and sleep started to consume me. I welcomed it. I hadn't had enough lately, and I could feel it.

The next thing I know is someone is gently shaking me awake. I jumped up and found a nurse looking at me.

“Sorry Luna, I thought you might want a shower before the meeting” She said.

“Yes, thank you” I told her as I got the rest of the way out of bed and headed to the shower. I saw that someone had put some clothes on a table for me. I grabbed those as I went to the bathroom. I tured the water on and stripped down and stepped under the water. I made it a quick shower. I washed my hair and body and got out. I dried my body and wrapped the towel up around my hair and head. I quickly got dressed. They had brought me a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a white blouse and a pair of black boots. I brushed my hair and threw it up in a braid and stepped back out into the room and saw Mac sitting there.

He nodded his head at me and walked out of the room.

“Colter baby, I am going to meet your pack. They are getting nervous with you not getting better. They need to know that I ar here and who I am. I hope this is ok with you. This is something that we should be doing together, but we can do it again when you're awake” I told him and then kissed his cheek and walked out of the room.

Mac took me out of the hospital and led me back to the pack house and to a very large conference room. People had already started to come in. Everyone was staring at me and Mac. I know they were curious about me because I haven't left the hospital.

“Do you know what you're going to say?” Mac asked.

“Nope, I am going to wing it up there.”

“Sounds like a good plan to me. Just know that I am behind you and that Colter, and I will support whatever you do." “Thanks.”

He walked up to the podium and motioned for everyone to sit down. Everyone slowly took a seat, and some stood in the back. This pack was huge. I knew they were big but not this big. I defiantly had some work ahead of me.

“Thank you everyone for coming today. I know that you all have a lot of questions about Alpha Colter and for now we don’t have a lot of answers. We know that he is unconscious, and all of his tests have come back normal. We don’t know why he isn't waking up, but we are trying everything we can think of. We were away because Alpha Colter had met his fated mate an: he was getting to know her when he was taken. She has done more than most to get him home safely and hasn't left his side since we found him. I would like to introduce you to your new Luna, Luna Alexa”

Istood up and smiled and waved at everyone. I stepped up to the podium and took a big breath and slowly released it tryin to steady my nerves.

“Thank you, Beta Mac. Thank you, Full Moon pack, for welcoming me. I would just like to say that I am trying everything I can to help Alpha Colter and I am working with Beta Mac to keep everything going for you guys. Please know that whatever happens I am your Luna, and you can count on me. I do just ask that for the time being you give us privacy and when we know something you will also know.”

I stepped down and walked off the stage. Everyone clapped but it was a sad clap. They were worried about the future, and I couldn't blame them because so was I. I was headed back to the hospital.

“Hey Alexa, stop. I have something to say to you.” Lauren said coming up behind me.

I stopped and turned to face her, but I didn't reply to her.

“I just wanted you to know that if it wasn’t for you our pack wouldn't be in this situation. You should be ashamed to call yourself a Luna. A real Luna would have never let this happen. It should be you laying in that bed not him. I won't let this go and I will make sure the pack knows this. They will hate you and they will run you out of here so don't get too comfortable” She said as she shot daggers at me with her eyes.

just walked away. I knew it was my fault that he was lying up there stuck in between and I was trying everything I could think of to get him back, but I don't know if I am enough. I don’t know if he could love me enough to come back. I don't knov who is on the other side for him. AllI could do now was pray to the moon goddess.
