Lorenzo's POV

“What do you want with me, why did you bring me here?" she asked me calmly, sounding so sad and exhausted. The truth is, I don't even know the answer to this question myself, why the hell had I brought her here. That wasn't the plan, the plan was to put an end to this war first, then I can go in search of her, I never expected to find her in that warehouse, but now that I've found her, I certainly not letting her out of my sight again, never again. Besides, I can't deny the attraction between us, although I try to deny it, I try to tell myself that I'm trying to punish her for having dealings with Lucas Durego, but deep down in my heart, I know that I'm just trying to keep her by my side, I can't bear to lose her again. I may not admit it, but I know that it's all my fault that she got herself into this mess. I was so down and frustrated when I met her and the only way I could forget about my problems was to get myself high with coke an: other pills. I even made the mistake of leaving my stash for her to use and I never checked on her, not even once. It had taken me close to three months to get clean and get sober, I'm not letting her sink deeper into substance abuse, I won't let her get committed to a rehabilitation center, I'll get her clean up myself, Ill get her to stop before it is too late, before she goes insane.

First, I'll need to find out why she got into this in the first place. It's true that most people get into substance abuse because of Emotional distress, Environmental causes, Relationship troubles, or Job or financial problems. think I have an idea of wh started using, she had mentioned some family problems to me when we had met some years ago, but I don't think that is enough to push her over the edge. I need to have a little chat with her and find out if anything has happened to her betwees that time and now. I'l keep her here with me until she gets clean and get complete control of herself. It stands to reason thz if you quit your drug abuse but continue with your same routine, hanging around the same people and places, and not “making any changes in your circumstances, it will be much easier to slip back into your old behaviors and habits. Most people who make their way into recovery have left a lot of pain and suffering in their wake. Feeling guilty or shameful for past behavior or actions during active addiction is pretty natural and healthy, but I can't let that guilt push her back into using drugs again.

I left her in her room and went over to check on the guys that I have locked away in my dungeon. The truth is I don't know what should do with these guys. A part of me wants to kill them and send a warning to their king and tell him to back off, buta part of me wants to hear him out and see what side he is on. I'm not stupid, I heard when he said that he had sent his boys to protect Graciela. If my hunch is correct, then it would seem that she is the one that has been trying to see me for the past week. I thought it was just a trick by one of my enemies, I thought they were just trying to get me to come out of my hiding place. I guess I was wrong, I mean, it's got to be her right?

But that brings a lot of questions to mind, I mean, King Dominic may be the better king because he is way better than his counterpart, King Ashford, but that doesn't mean that he is a goody-two-shoes or some kind of good Samaritan. From what I've heard about this guy, he never does anything without thinking about it and weighing his pros and cons. He must have a reason for sending her right to me, at least, let me hear what his boys have got to say, then I'll decide what to do with them. They better convince me that they aren't the bad guys here or I swear, 'll pump them full with wolfsbane that they won't be able to take a last breath before they die. They are tied to a metal wall that is connected to an electric circuit, with the electric current flowing through their body, keeping them docile. I used the purple wolfsbane when I shot them earlier, I don't want them dead, not yet. If I did, I would have used the yellow wolfsbane. But if they don't get talking on time, I'm shooting them full with yellow wolfsbane.

“Hi, guys. Sorry I kept you waiting, hope you're comfortable enough?” I asked sarcastically as I walked to where the controls were and increased the voltage a little, making them bare their fangs in pain as they growled and struggled to break free from the shackles.

“Oh come on guys, that is so rude, don't tell me you want to go so soon, are you trying to call me a bad host or what?" I asked them in a mocking tone, making them growl even louder.

“Now, that is enough already. Let's get right to business. I don't need to threaten you or say anything of the sort, Nah. You know the drills, you know how this works already. I ask the questions and you give me the answers I need. Fair warning though, if you lie to me, if I find out that you omit even the thinnest bit of information, I'm shooting you in the head with a bullet laced with wolfsbane, and this time, 'm using the yellow wolfsbane. Yeah, I have it too” I told them smugly when thei heads snapped up to stare at me in shock. I can understand their shock, getting these things is not just hard, itis also very expensive. But you'll be surprised at what you can achieve when you set your mind on something and remain focused on your mission. I did not only find out about them, but I also found out about their weaknesses and their strengths and I got everything I need to fight them to the last. I'm so damn ready for this war, I hope they are ready as well because when I fight I fight dirty and I fight to win.

“Why are you here?" I muttered softly. I did not bother raising my voice too loud because I know that they can hear me anyway. I drew a seat forward and sat in front of them, looking directly at them, reading their facial expressions, trying to find out if they are lying.

“Our king sent us here to protect lady Graciela from the drug lord” The first guy responded.

“Cut the crap I've heard your cover story already. Now I want the whole truth, I want to know why you are really here. So skip the bulshit and tell me what I want to know” I told them pointedly, watching as they both shared a look before the second guy turned back to me and started talking.
