Two days have passed since I came back and it’s a relief to be able to work from home. I don’t feel unwelcome here and I don’t have to see the Alpha’s and the Beta’s family. Of course, I’m still seeing Alpha Franck as we work together but he is bearable. In other circumstances, we could have befriended... I think. He is in the dog house for asking me to come back and also for letting me freed Alistair. His mate even refused to speak with him. Anyway, he is now eating his lunch with us. Apparently he is liking my cooking too.

These passed days were quiet as I’m not looking for the mole anymore. My work is to organize the pack life day by day. Liam is also the CEO of a building company but Alpha Franck, who was the previous CEO, is managing it. They didn’t change the patrols organized as I advised them but what can I do more. It’s their lives that are in danger, not mine. My thoughts were interrupted by my phone. Andy is calling me. I’m smiling, it has been a while since we spoke.

“Good Morning Detective Thrudeau. It’s been a while. How are you?”

“Hey Lilly, I’m good thanks and you?”

“I’m fine too, thanks! How can I help you?”

“I’m calling you because someone is digging your past. And they try to know what’s happened 15 years ago. I didn’t share any pieces of information as it’s a confidential case.”

“ Who was asking about that?” 

“ Your formers relatives. Elena Granloup three days ago and Aiden this morning.”

“Well it’s a bit late, don’t you think? How did they figure out that something happened when they didn’t even realize I was missing at this time? What the use to looking at it now?”

“ I don’t know. But I thought you would like to know. And there is more. Aiden is also asking around about Duncan.”

I feel my anger raised. What is he looking for? Something to use against me. I swear if he is involved Duncan I will kill him! “ Thank you for letting me now Andy. I hope to see you soon.”

“It’s normal Lilly. I hope to see you too. I miss you little miss sunshine!” He says trying to change my mood as he used to do. 

“Hey, I’m not that little anymore!”

“ You will always be this brave little girl that faced her monsters when adults were scared. You always found the force to smile even after what you see. It makes me proud to be able to help you and to know someone like you. You’re literally shining everything around you.”

“Thank you. I miss you. Take care and see you soon.”

“Bye, little miss sunshine.”

That asshole! How dare he digs in my past. He doesn’t have any right to do it now.

“Alpha Franck, do you know where is Beta Kaiden?”

“He should be in his office in the pack house, why? Everything is fine, you look upset?”

“Yes, everything is fine! I just have to clear some points with him.” I say getting up and leaving the office.

“Hey, where do you go?” Collin asks me as he is playing with Harper.

“I going to the pack house. I need to speak with your Beta.”

He started to get up and following in the garden. Right, I can’t be alone in the pack territory, I forgot! He is stopped by Alpha Franck who tells him he will come with me. I don’t care who he’s coming I just keep walking.

“How dare you investigate me? Who do you think you are?” I tell Aiden entering his office without knocking. Great, he is not alone, His father and Liam are here too.

“Nobody ever told you it’s not polite to not knocking!” Liam tells me.

“Should not you be at the bed, resting?” I retort.

“Who is detective Thrudeau to you? You look to know him really well.” That’s bastard! He is still spying my phone. I need to fix that!

“Do you know it’s illegal to spy on a phone? Should I call the police? No, wait! I will just use the pack phone when I don’t want you to listen. I’m sure you didn’t even think to spy on it!” His face tells me I’m right. Stupid boy!

“What going on?” Asks John while Alpha Franck raised his hands in surrender before sitting down on the sofa next to Liam.

“Dad, did you know she spent 12 weeks in the hospital when she was 10. But not any hospital, it was in the hospital Sainte Grace in Baton Rouge more than a thousand miles away from here!”

“What? Why did I learn that now! Why you didn’t call young girl?” John said looking at me with authority.

“Oh, I did call you Beta Granloup!” I said with a short laugh.

I remember that moment like it was yesterday. It’s was a few hours after I woke up from my coma. I didn’t even have time to explain to him what had happened because he spent his time reprimanding me but I called him father and not Beta John and someone might hear me. How naive I was to think he will be relieved to know I was fine when he didn’t realize I was missing. “ You didn’t let me explain anything before you hang up. I was found 19 days after my kidnapping and I spent 24 days in a coma and nobody knows who I was because no one declared me missing. I was missing for 43 days and you even did realize it!”

“I... You are lying. You were in a special camp for children with trouble! Your teachers were always calling us to speak about your grades.”

“Are you sure about that?” I ask him defiantly.

“In fact, dad, it’s the opposite she was graduated at 10. And she has 3 degrees in law, medicine, and veterinary.” Says Aiden. He did his job well... almost.

“I have 6 degrees, not 3. 2 in-laws - humans laws and supernatural laws, 2 in Medicine - human medicine and supernatural medicine, 1 in veterinary and 1 psychology. You almost did a good job trying to find about my past.” I can’t help to add. Thought my degree in psychology I did it in Barcelona and I doubt he found about that part of my life.

“How it even possible? You are what 24?” Asked John.

“25! I am pretty smart and I have a huge memory that is helping for studies. When I realized that you were signing the papers I was giving to you without even reading it, everything went easy. I was able to do everything I wanted. Studying what I wanted. Working at 14, change my legal guardian at 13. I told you one time that I wanted to be a doctor to help people and you and Tessa just laughed as if I would be able too. I studied laws because of you.”

“I never wanted to be a lawyer so I don’t follow your logic.” Said John bit surprised by my outburst.

“Because she was looking for a way to not be your daughter anymore. And you succeeded as Mom and Dad are not anymore on your birth certificate.” Said Aiden.

“What? Is that true?” Said John too shocked to say more.

“Yes, it’s true. And it was so easy! I just had to write a letter to you and Tessa with the reasons why I couldn’t be your daughter. You both signed it without reading it as always. That time when you didn’t even know I was missing make me understand that you will never see me. The last straw was when you told Liam how sorry you were to bring shame on him because I was his mate. You have all rejected not because of what I am but because of what I am not. And It’s cost me so much! You were so upset and obsessed by the fact that I didn’t have a wolf that you never see me! I’m so much more than the girl without a wolf but that was never enough for you! All I could see when you were looking at me was deception and I didn’t want to leave like that. I wanted to be proud of my name and my family and I am now.”

“What family? You had only us?”

“She has a son, Duncan.” Said Aiden. Ugh!!! Can he just shut his mouth already!

“You have a son! Since when? Why we never met him” John says.

“Why should I have introduced you to him? Like that, you can tell him all the good you think about me, no thanks!” I say with sarcasm.

“Alpha Chris adopted you, didn’t he? You are not his lover, you never were. I saw you with him. He treats you as his daughter.” Says Alpha Franck. I almost forgot that he and Liam were still here.

“Yes, I am his daughter. His wolf claimed me as one of his pups the first time we met. He is legally my father for 8 years now. He had accepted me for me and never minded what I’m or not. Darius and he love me like you never were able. They both accepted me with open arms like their pack by the way.”

“You’re so ungrateful, little girl! Always I shame for our family!” Said John looking pissed.

“Well, you should be happy then because I’m not your daughter anymore!” I answered him.

“What’s all that screaming?” Says Eleonora coming in the office.

Hey! We were speaking loud not screaming! When she sees me she pales and leaves the room without closing the door. Perfect Melinda’s spell is working perfectly. That’s good news. One problem fixed at least.

“Stay out of my life!” I said pointing Aiden before leaving.

I’m in my office but I can hear Collin and Alpha Franck speaking in the kitchen. I just had a skype call with Duncan. He is enjoying his time in the Blue Moon pack. I’m happy for him even if l missing me like crazy.

For a few minutes I have a feeling something bad is going to happen. I don’t like that. My stress is really at a high level and I’m listening to every detail, smell, noise, movement around me. I’m smelling something burning by the way... So I decided to join Collin and Alpha Franck in the kitchen.

“Hey! I heard about the fight so I decided to cook for you.” Says Collin.

“It means the world to me! Can we eat it or it’s too burned?”

“Do you want to die by poisoned food?” Says Alpha Franck with a smile. “How do you feel about the talk earlier?”

“I’m fine. I don’t expect anything from them anymore. I don’t even know if I could say that I used to know them. For sure they don’t know me because they never take the time to. Now it’s too late to change anything. But I’m worrying right now my instincts tell me something bad is going to happen soon, very soon.” I can see both of them stiffen.

“Like when we were attacked?” Alpha Franck asked me.

“No, not rogues. I don’t know. Don’t you feel the tension in the air?”

“I hope so!” I told them. “Anyway let’s cook a ceviche of Codfish with mango.”

While I am cooking, I can feel Alpha Franck’s eyes on me.

“What?” I asked him.

“ About what happened in Aiden's office. I’m sorry. I know we didn’t mistreat you but it doesn’t mean we treated you right. You are right we were not able to pass the fact you don’t have a wolf and I don’t know if we will able to... even now.” He told me.

“You have something to ask me.” I confirmed.

“You said you were kidnapped when you were 10. What’s happened exactly?” He asked me.

“Did he. Did he rape you?” Asked Collin whit shaking voice.

“No! He died before he can. They all die this night, during that party.” I say with a cold smile. “ The Virgin party! He organized a party to sell my virginity. They were all laughing, touching me, they tortured me. They even drunk on me. I lost so much blood that for the first time of my life I don’t have a clear memory of that evening. One of them broke all my fingers one by one because he loved to hear me screaming. It was so painful. And suddenly they all felt one after another, screaming, vomiting blood. They went crazy attacking each other. Everything went a blur around me... I was found in the middle of there bodies the day after.” I take a pause. I didn’t realize before I was hugging myself. “ Andy, I mean Detective Thrudeau, was in charge of the case and he came to see me every day. With my testimony, he was able to arrest my kidnappers and to find the old factory. I was the 14182nd to pass by this factory. I was so choked that I did everything I can to destroy that organization. I even moved with Andy when I was 13 and he became my legal guardian. The luck as I saw one of the big bosses before being sold. Andy thought it was too dangerous to testify in the court I didn’t want to hide. They were the ones who should be ashamed. And Octavio felt because of me and his brother Pablo felt with him.”

“Octavio and Pablo as The Dante’s brothers you mean. They had the biggest human trafficking organization in the world.” Says Collin shocked.

How does he know he was young when it happened? Most of the person of our age don’t know who they were. Before I can ask him, Alpha Franck speaks.

“Wait you were the human girl who testified against them!” He says looking shocked

“Yes, I am Jane Doe. It’s the name human gave to someone that they don’t their identity. Of course, Andy and I knew who I really was but with my father's reaction we both thought it was simple to make everybody believed that I had amnesia about my family, which was possible with the brain-damaged I surfed. Andy tried to speak with my family a few times but he realized that they were not really involved in my life so he kept my secret.”

“How did the vampires die?” Asked Alpha Franck.”

“They took an unknown drug that drove them crazy and they killed each other. The exact death cause is unknown.”

“This the official version, but my instinct tells me there is more.” Added Alpha Franck.

“The drug they took is now known as the LB Toxin.”

“The toxin that poisoned Liam. So you know more about that toxin that you want to tell.”

“Not a lot. The first time it appears somewhere was that night. It’s toxic for every creature. And Liam is the only whoever survived this toxin. There is no cure. That the only thing I can tell you for now.”

“I will find what you are hiding. It will more simple if you say it now.” He says very determinedly.

“You can try but I don’t trust you with my secret!”

“I need to calk a friend and to speak with Liam. Stay with her.” He says to Collin before leaving the house. I can hear him shifting.

“Don’t tell me. I wish you could trust me but Liam is still my Alpha and he can always force me to tell him. I don’t want to betray you even if it’s not on purpose.” Collin told me.

“Thanks! Why do you mean by still your Alpha?”

“My wolf has recognized you as his Luna. As a Gamma, the link I have with my Luna is special stronger than the link with the Alpha but I don’t know how our link outpaces my link with Liam. I think I will follow you when you will leave in a few weeks.”

“But you can’t. You have a life here! And a Luna to protect.”

“Have I? Connor can protect Nora. In the book about the twins you gave me, it says twins Gamma is to born to protect a powerful Luna or a Luna in great danger. This Luna is you not Nora. And you don’t have any Gamma to protect you.”

“Actually I have one and I have less than 5 years to live, what will you do after that?”

“I don’t know but I will follow my wolf. After I will go looking for my mate, my true mate. Moreover, the more time I pass with you the more I think you are powerful and maybe in great danger too. I just know I need to be by your side. If you accept me of course.”

“Yeah, that’s true! They’re right about Anna-Lynn! You have a bad influence. ” he said imitating Liam's voice. We both laughed.
