“So…what you will do?”
There was no much options available, whether survive and accept the deal and live as slaves or die defending their freedom.
Zarro was like a cat who playing with a mouse before eat it alive.
“Why you didn’t talked about it with us, Major” what John said made everybody turn their faces to Ronald.
Nobody said anything but eyes don’t lie and all of them were asking the same question.
“You have any way out?” said Ronald challenging them.
“He is right there is no hope to survive but this deal” John thought.
“You are interesting beings, humans…we made countless experiments on different races but you are the most interesting of all races we have encountered” said Zarro
“Experiments?” said John.
Zarro smiled: submitting you should have been easy task…but you adapted fast…faster than any other civilization.
“What you’re talking about?”
“I’m talking about that this invasion was very late”
“And what was the hold up?” said Kate in sarcastic way.
“Your abilities to evolve and adapt deserves more and more studies…despite we gave you a lot of technologies but successfully control it and use it to understand life around you...which take another civilizations more time to do the same”
“Why the experiments were stopped?” said Blake.
“Our king issued the order to invade you and we can’t do nothing but obey him”
“Your king?”
“King Kaydos, the king of Terra kingdom...the king of the whole galaxy”
“Is all what humanity achieved was because of you?” Blake asked.
Zarro smiled then said: yes doctor.
“You know me?!”
“Of course…your research and inventions are not just impressive for you- the humans- but also for us especially that drug which cause your skin get thick…but it’s too bad that our invasion ruined your dreams”
“You know that this was the reason of the invasion? You were afraid that we evolve even further…further that we can beat you”
“Blake…you can’t beat us no matter what you do…we can turn this planet to ashes with one hit”
“So it is just about the money”
Zarro shrugged: you know…war is expensive.
The conclusions were rushed inside Blake’s head. The questions he had in his mind about ‘the universal social system’ were terrifying.
“Is there any races that dominates you?” the question just slipped out Blake’s mouth.
“You humans are curious just like the Kanjis…you want to know everything even if it going to cost you your lives” said Zarod.
“Kanjis?”
“Never mind…so what did you choose? Life or death?”
The words stuffed in their mouths looking to each other waiting for the first person to take a step and accept the deal.
“We will not come with you…I prefer death over being humiliated like this from a punk like you” John’s words were shocking and reckless.
“We are dead for sure” Kate thought.
“Goddamn idiot…if you want to get killed it’s your own business…we want to live” said Ronald.
“He is right…you will not be helping us even if the deal was accepted” said Zarro.
“Hey Barod…kill him”
“My pleasure” said Barod then he aimed his hand at John and a fireball in the size of a billiard ball appeared out of it.
“Don’t worry you will not feel anything, damn earthling” said Barod with a smile on his face.
John began to sweat and he saw all of his life before his mind like a movie. The memories of his parents and how they were very protective being their only child and a memories about dating his future wife, the memories of their son and the memories of his friends. It all flashed before his mind in moments but for John it was like hours.
“Barod” said Zarro.
“What’s wrong?”
“We must leave now…we have a mission, I will brief you on our way”
The fireball has disappeared then Barod looked at John disgustingly and said: you are lucky, you punk.
Then he middle fingered him and walked out the base and flew away after they heated up the base few degrees.
“I’ve been saved” John thought as he watched them leaving.
“That’s was our last chance” said Ronald.
