Davina entered the bedroom, now fully clothed and with an annoyed expression on her face. Anderson was sat in a chair in the corner of the room with the three beasts surrounding him, making sure he didn’t act up.

“Now, would you mind telling us why the hell you’ve snuck in here?” Davina asked, crossing her arms.

“Isn’t it obvious, Vee? Vincent sent him here tofuckwith us.” Charlie said a little harshly. Davina quirked a brow at the new nickname Charlie bestowed upon her. She didn’t get why Charlie kept coming up with new names for her. She thought it was sweet, though.

“Believe it or not, I come waving a white flag.” Anderson said.

“Idon’t believe it. You crept up behind her when she was wearing nothing but a towel. You also grabbed her.” Jackson responded. Immediately, Dean turned to Anderson and pulled him up with a hand wrapped tightly around his throat. Anderson grunted as Dean pulled him close to him.

“You do it again and you won’t have hands.” Dean said in a low voice, bringing a small smile to Davina’s face.

“You know I’ll have to. It’s the only way she’ll live.” Anderson said. Dean said nothing as he shoved Anderson back into the chair, harshly.

“What’s he talking about?” Davina asked. Dean, Jackson, and Charlie all looked between each other with eyes that Davina couldn’t read. She also couldn’t read their minds either, telling her that whatever it was that Anderson was referring to was something the three didn’t want her to know. Davina snapped her fingers as an attempt to gain their attention.

“Hey, don’t leave me in the dark, guys.” Davina spoke in a soft tone. The three all turned to her with unsure looks across their faces. Charlie then sighed.

“It’s a ritual for a beast and a soon to be beast. It’s something necessary in order to properly transition from human to beast.” Charlie said.

“And why does it matter? I’m not doing it.” Davina said, making Charlie sigh once more.

“Davina, if you do not complete the ritual, it’s pretty much a death sentence.” Charlie spoke but knew that she knew that.

“She’s aware. She doesn’t want to become a beast, Anderson. Simple as that.” Jackson replied.

“No, it is not that simple! You already know what Vincent wants to achieve with her. I have seen his work and his experiments actually work. If he gets his hands on her, and I can guarantee you he will, he is going to turn her into an elite beast more powerful than the King of Beasts himself. Nobody in the supernatural world wants that.” Anderson spoke.

“So, we’re just going to talk like I’m not standing right here, are we?” Davina muttered as she lowered herself down onto the bed with a sigh. Anderson rolled his eyes before landing them on Davina.

"You do not want that. Allow me to turn you before Vincent does it himself.” Anderson said.

“Why would I choose your way when my way guarantee’s I don’t end up as a beast?” Davina asked. Anderson didn’t respond. He only blinked at her. He then looked between Dean and Jackson.

“Something tells me these two will keep that from happening.” Anderson spoke. Dean and Jackson eyed each other. Dean wondered what Anderson could’ve meant. Anderson was hardly around them. Dean wondered why Anderson could see that he couldn’t see himself. His eyes then trailed over to Jackson, remembering that Anderson said ‘two.’ Jackson was trying to avert his King and dear friend’s eyes. He wasn’t very fond of being outed.

“Why the hell do you think these two would?” Davina asked curiously, now looking in between the two. She knew neither of them really cared about her. Dean had made a point several times that once he helped her, he was done and that she would be out of their lives. And even after their intimate relations with one another, Davina still believed that. And as for Jackson, well, she didn’t really see him caring much either.

“More importantly, why the hell do you think I wouldn’t care?! I want my Vina around!” Charlie exclaimed, making Davina fight back a smile.

“I am trying to find a way to keep her human without having to transition, Anderson. That way she doesn’t have to give up her human life.” Dean finally said. Anderson huffed and shook his head.

“You’ve been at it for years, Dean. There is no way to undo what’s been done. And there is no point in trying to save anyone. You can’t save her.” Anderson said in a serious tone. Dean didn’t speak. He only stared at him. Deep down, he didn’t want to admit that Anderson was right. He wanted to continue to try to help people so that they didn’t go through what he did. He still remembers what it was like for him when he first turned. He was disgusted with himself and his animalistic behavior. He remembers the sweet girl around his age from the village he lived in. He remembers her running around with a basket of freshly baked bread she had gotten from town that morning. Dean could smell it. He could smell everything from the pine trees from the forest surrounding him, to the firewood burning further into town. He vividly remembers hiding behind a tree as she walked down a small path back to their village. He remembers the human voice in his head begging him not to do what his body ached and craved him to do. And he of course remembers the beast voice in his head telling him to give into his desires. He vowed to the beast, his maker, that he wouldn’t turn out like him. That he wouldn’t indulge in ripping into the flesh of human being. But, as the girl ran down the path, skipping and humming along to campfire songs the families of the village sang at night, he heard the sweet sound of blood rushing through her. He tries not the remember what happened next. And luckily, Charlie, who had accidentally entered his mind, wasn’t going to allow Dean to torture himself like that.

“Alright, I’ve had enough for the night. I’ll lock him up in my room and we can discuss how to dispose of him in the morning.” Charlie spoke as he went to pull Anderson up from the chair.

“Great.” Davina sighed as she went to sit down on her side of the bed. Dean eyed her as he exited the room but didn’t say anything. Davina frowned, wondering why she received that look from him. Her attention was then on Jackson as he shut the door before lowering himself down onto their shared bed.

“Mind if I ask you something?” Davina asked. When Jackson didn’t respond, Davina figured he wasn’t interested in hearing her question. She sighed as she turned towards the lamp, about to turn it off when she felt the bed move. She turned to find Jackson facing her direction.

“What is it, Davina?” Jackson asked in a tired, but kind tone. She turned to find his head resting on his pillow. His tatted arm was curled up beside his head as he stared up at her with the kindest eyes she ever saw from him.

“How did you not sense him in the room?” Davina asked. Jackson blinked at her for a moment before letting out a sigh and turning over in the bed.

“Goodnight, Davina.” Jackson said, keeping the same tired tone. Davina only stared at him in confusion for a moment before she turned off the lamp and rested her head on the pillow, falling into a deep sleep.

When Davina woke in the morning, it was to the unpleasant sounds of shouting downstairs. She turned to the window, finding it was barely light outside. She let out a groan as she ran her fingers through her tangled hair.

“They’ve been at it since five.” Jackson spoke from beside her, startling her a little. She had expected him to be downstairs with them as well.

“And you haven’t gotten up yet?” Davina asked, quirking a brow at him though he couldn’t see. He never responded. He remained laying on his back, his eyes staring up at the ceiling. Davina eyed him only for a minute, secretly admiring the tattoo’s along his chest before throwing the covers off of herself. She then headed downstairs, finding everybody with the exception of a few agents there.

“I’m sorry! I got hangry in the middle of the night and I very well couldn’t feed off of a beast!” Charlie defended himself. He had fed on the man they were supposed to interrogate. Unfortunately for the others, Charlie had gone a little too far, thus killing the man. Charlie, however, was pleased. “Besides, he was only a witch.” Charlie said with a small smirk gracing his lips. He hadn’t ever tasted a witch’s blood that tasted as sweet as his. It certainly satisfied his craving.

“A genetically modified witch! Did you even think about how his blood was altered? It could cause serious changes to yourself!” Dean exclaimed. Charlie’s eyes trailed away from his King as he processed his words. He then rested his hand on his hip.

“Huh, that could be why his blood wasn’t sour or bitter tasting.” Charlie commented making Dean groan. “Oh, no matter! I’m sure the worst that can happen is I get an upgrade, right Anderson?” Charlie asked.

“Don’t ask me. I’m not one of Vincent’s scientists. I don’t exactly know how it works.” Anderson said from his chair. He sat with chains around him that Victor found in the back of the van. According to Victor, they could hold a beast. Elliot was unsure, mostly due to fear. But, nobody else seemed too concerned.

“Why can’t we just interrogate this dude?” Aaron asked as he leaned up against a wall, crossing his arms as he did.

“Because, Aaron, he’s not just going to cough up information so easily. At least with the witch we would have a method of learning whatever we want.” Davina said as she now entered the room, making her presence known. All eyes in the room were now on her.

“And what method would that be?” Victor asked. At the same time, Davina and Charlie went to respond to his question.

“Mind control.” Davina said as Charlie replied with, “Torture.” Their eyes both widened as they turned to one another. Charlie sensed that Davina didn’t like the answer he provided Victor with.

“Oh, right. Mind control.” Charlie said as he turned away to avert Davina’s intense stare, scratching the back of his neck as he did.

“Beasts can control the minds of others?” Aaron asked.

“Among other things.” Dean spoke. Aaron turned to him with a bewildered look.

“What all can you guys do?!” Aaron exclaimed. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“They have superhuman strength, agility, mind control and mind reading, superior hearing and seeing abilities, fangs, and they have an alternate form. Basically a more beast like form.” Elliot explained. Charlie quirked a brow at him before remembering Elliot had just switched over to field work. He had the most knowledge of beasts than most beasts did themselves. Not only because it was his job, previously. But, also because their kind fascinated him.

“Beast form? How come I’ve never seen it all of the times we’ve ran into trouble together?” Davina asked, turning to Dean. Dean eyed her for a moment before turning away.

“I just don’t use it anymore.” Dean lied. Davina knew there was more to it. She wanted to question him but figured she’d do it later.

“Alright, guys. It’s nearing eight and we need to be out by that time.” Victor said.

“Who’s taking the creepy stalking?” Aaron asked with his eyes on Anderson. Aaron hadn’t realized he was slowly starting to care for the woman he recently learned was his sister. It wasn’t until Dean and Charlie explained what Anderson did the other night that he started to feel protective of her. He now felt it was necessary to keep Anderson away from her at all costs. Anderson slowly turned to glare at Aaron, knowing it was him he was referring to.

“We are. If he gets out” Jackson said, descending down the stairs, and making all eyes land on him. “We’ll have a better chance at defending ourselves than the rest of you humans.” Jackson said as he fixed his cuffs, now dressed in a fresh new suit for the day. He shot them all an intense glare once he decided to acknowledge their stares. Victor, Aaron, and Elliot cringed, all turning their heads away.

“What’s got your panties in a bunch this morning?” Charlie teased without care.

“You all disrupted his rest.” Davina said in an obvious sounding tone before heading upstairs to get her stuff ready to leave. After a few moments alone in the bedroom her and Jackson shared, Dean appeared in the doorway.

“It’s rude to stare. Also quite creepy.” Davina said as she stuffed anything of hers or Jackson’s laying around into her bag, figuring he’d be more upset about leaving it than it being in her bag. She hadn’t noticed until now how forgetful he was of the little things. She almost thought he intentionally left them with just how many items of his were still scattered around the room.

“It’s hard not to. Especially in those shorts.” Dean replied, making Davina playfully roll her eyes. He then entered the room further, standing just a few feet away from Davina. Davina stopped to look up at him, finding an expression on his face that she couldn’t quite place. She straightened up from her hunched over form and turned to him, her large brown eyes landing on his blue ones. Dean looked elsewhere for a moment. He had something to ask her, but wasn’t quite sure how to say it. She realized after a moment. She then placed her hand on his cheek, patting it lightly to gain his attention. When he turned back to her, she stepped a little closer to him, tilting her head only a little.

“What is it, Dean?” Davina asked in a soft voice. He looked away once more but parted his lips.

“How come you slept in here last night?” Dean asked, his tone remaining unserious, almost like he didn’t care. But he did. He cared more than either of them knew.

“It was already established that I would.” Davina responded after a moment.

“And that didn’t change after you and I fucked?” Dean asked genuinely. Davina’s eyes widened slightly at the question.

“Were you hoping it would?” Davina countered back with a question. Dean’s silence answered the question for her. She crossed her arms, letting a small smirk form on her face.

“Dean, are you jealous?” Davina teased. He went to walk away when her hand around his wrist stopped her.

“It won’t happen again. I’m not saying that because I’m ‘yours’ or anything like that. Because, I’m not. But I don’t want us fighting or having any tension between us anymore.” Davina said, making Dean send her a playful look.

“Anything but the sexual kind, right?” Dean replied making Davina chuckle.

“Right.” Davina responded before zipping up her bag and throwing it over her shoulder. The two then went down the stairs, soon exiting the bed and breakfast.

“Please, Jackson! You said I could!” Charlie exclaimed. Jackson sighed before pulling his keys out of his pocket and tossing them to Charlie. Charlie squealed in excitement before running over to Davina, taking hold of her wrist and pulling her to Jackson’s car.

“Finally! You’re riding with me!” Charlie exclaimed, making Davina sigh.

“I get no say in who I ride with at any point, do I?” Davina asked as Charlie quickly pushed her into the passenger side before running over to the drivers door.

“Wait, I didn’t mean- Charlie, I don’t trust you alone in my car!” Jackson shouted but Charlie paid no mind. He quickly pulled on to the road so he wouldn’t have to to hear Jackson any longer. As he did a U-turn, he stuck his middle fingers out at Jackson as well as his tongue.

“Charlie! Hands on the wheel, please!” Davina exclaimed as she held onto to the nearest thing, watching as they were about to drive off of the road. Charlie quickly turned back and corrected his wheel, making Davina sigh of relief. She then brought her knees up to her chest to sit more comfortably.

“This is so exciting! I get you all to myself for the next two hours!” Charlie exclaimed. “So, what are we talking about? You and Dean? Or you and Jackson?” Charlie teased, hoping to rile her up just a bit. Davina quirked a brow at him before turning in her seat to face him.

“How about me and Charlie?” Davina asked as she placed her hand on Charlie’s jean clad thigh, making his eyes widen. Davina then burst out into laughter, falling back into her seat. Charlie dramatically scoffed at her.

“Not funny, Vina! You can’t play with a beasts feelings like that!” Charlie whined as Davina continued to laugh. The sounds of her laughter and the sights of her being relaxed and not so serious as she normally was, made him smile. She stopped once she felt eyes on her, making her turn and spot him. She rested her cheek on her knee as she continued to stare at him.

“It may be selfish of me, but I really want you to do that ritual, Davina.” Charlie said, the use of her first name indicating Charlie was being serious. Davina then gave him a sad smile, making him turn away. He knew upon hearing what he thought, her decision wouldn’t change. Not that he even thought it would. But, for a moment, she wanted to as well. She had grown fond of Charlie, yes. As for the other beasts she spent her time with. But she couldn’t see herself living her life as a beast. And she truly didn’t want it.

“No offense, Charlie. But I think if you had been given the choice not to transform, you’d think differently.” Davina said. Charlie stayed silent for a moment before turning to her, a frown appearing across his face.

“How’d you know I didn’t have a choice?” Charlie asked.

“Jackson told me. He said that you are the only beast in history that was a product of procreation.” Davina spoke. Charlie blinked, a little confused as to why Jackson even shared that. He wondered what possessed him to do so. Although, he didn’t mind very much upon Davina learning of that.

“How does that work exactly? If you don’t mind my asking.” Davina said. Charlie continued to keep his eyes on the road. He heavily sighed upon remembering his family. Dean and Jackson knew his story. Not once had he ever told a soul about any one of his family members. He supposes if he were to tell anybody other than the two of them, it’d be the woman he’s gotten so close to in a short amount of time.

“By chance, really. I’m not quite sure how, but my grandfather somehow got the blood, or claws, or fangs, or some sort of bodily fluid in him. And well, once it’s in, it never really leaves. It becomes part of you. He then went on to have my mother. My guess is she sensed what she was and what she would become someday. And so she convinced her husband, my father to follow down that path too. Soon, they had my siblings. Then, well, they died. I’m not quite sure how. I never thought to ask. Almost a decade later, they had me.” Charlie replied.

“Wait a second, don’t you need to go through the ritual in order to turn?” Davina asked.

“It’s best that you do. My own theory is that, because they didn’t, they managed to have me. Beasts who do not go through the ritual aren’t capable of possessing their abilities fully. I don’t think my mother’s reproductive system shut off after death.” Charlie explained. Davina sat and pondered for a moment.

“So, she could technically make another you? Another beast born through procreation?” Davina asked.

“If she were alive, she could.” Charlie said. Davina’s eyes widened, hoping she hadn’t upset him now.

“I’m so sorry, Charlie.” Davina said, making Charlie laugh.

“Oh, don’t be. I killed her myself.” Charlie spoke.

“What?!” Davina shouted, being taken aback. The shout had shocked Charlie himself, making him almost drive off the side of the road.

“Geez, Vina!” Charlie said as he managed to get back in the right lane. “Why’s that such a shock to you?” Charlie asked, eyeing her for a moment. Davina let out a breath she hadn’t know she was holding in. She blinked at him for a moment.

“Because... she was your mother.” Davina said in disbelief. Charlie bit the inside of his cheek. He knew that. But that meant nothing to him. She meant nothing to him anymore.

“She was a witch. And I mean both kinds.” Charlie spoke.

“Supernatural?” Davina asked.

“What’d you think I meant when I said I thought she could sense what she was becoming?” Charlie asked. Davina blinked once again before turning to face the road.

“Anyways, that woman... is the coldest soul you could ever come across.” Charlie said in a grave tone. Davina knew she couldn’t question him on it. Not only did she not want to open up any wounds for him, but she also felt she could understand to some length. Charlie laughed a low laugh.

“Unless you saw it for yourself, I don’t think you could ever understand just how terrible she truly was.” Charlie said, tears prickling in his eyes. Davina turned to face him, finding a broken expression across his usually cheerful face. She reached her hand out to Charlie’s that was resting on his thigh, taking it in her own. He looked down at the hand on his own, turning to find Davina staring at him.

“You can trust me, Charlie.” Davina said, staring into Charlie’s hazel-ish, green eyes., giving his hand a light squeeze. Charlie took another deep sigh before turning away, continuing on the road. He thought, if she really wants to see, so be it.
