Sarah Willaims – POV

Just a few minutes went by before I felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen that made me let out a surprised yelp. The pain was so sudden yet familiar. Tears started to pour down my cheeks like a waterfall. The woman that just went inside to meet Beta Alan must have been a wh ore.

The pain in my abdomen only grew as time went by, and so was my anger toward Beta Alan. I don’t know whether he was doing this on purpose or was this his daily routine, but whatever it may be, I have lost all hopes of trying to build a relationship with him.

Ring ring.

The phone that is on my desk kept ringing, and I know that I will have to answer it at some point, so I took the receiver in my hand with a shaky breath and placed it on my ear. “Hello, I am Miss. Williams, Mr.Alan’s secretary. How may I assist you?” I spoke in a professional tone while gritting my teeth to prevent the scream that was threatening to come.

“Hello, Miss. Williams, I would like to speak to Beta Alan right now. It’s an emergency. Could you give him the phone?” the male voice on the other end asked me.

“I…I am sorry, Sir, but Beta Alan is in a very important meeting at the moment.” I said, and I heard the man sigh impatiently.

“Miss.Willaims, what I am about to say right now is much more important. Could you please give him the phone?” the man insisted, and I shook my head. Tears were continuously flowing down my cheeks, I couldn’t bare the pain anymore, so I blurted out the first thing that came to my mind. “Beta Alan is making love to a woman right now. So, I am sorry, I will not be able to give the phone to him.” I said.

“I will make sure to call this number again once I inform him, Sir. Thank you, have a nice day.” I said everything in one sentence and kept the phone. I got up from my chair with shaky legs, held the wall, and slowly started to walk towards the door. My heart was beating like a drum, while the precipitation on my forehead was dripping onto the black pencil skirt that I was wearing.

When my hands held the door handle, the intense pain in my abdomen came to an abrupt stop. I broke my bond with Alpha Vanguard because I didn’t want to go through this suffering every single day, but if there is no difference with my second chance mate, then what is the point in still having this mate bond?

I was almost near Beta Alan’s office door when the door barged open, the woman walked out with messed up makeup, and a few buttons were missing from her shirt. I felt disgusted looking at her state. “Oh, Beta Alan would want to see you,” she informed me and went past me

towards the exit. I stayed in front of his door and took a few minutes to compose myself before I made my way inside.

Chapter 10

“Beta Alan, can I have the keys to the shop that you said you would give me?” I asked him, and he looked up from his computer and raised his eyebrow at me, but he kept the keys on the table and pushed them toward me. I made my way toward him and took the set of keys, and when I was about to walk out, his voice stopped me.

“Miss.Willaims, are you done with your paperwork?” he asked me as if nothing happened.

“I am taking a day off, Beta Alan,” I said with an emotionless tone, and he immediately got up from his chair and walked toward me.

“You are only allowed to leave from here after three pm,” he said with a glint of anger in his eyes, and I walked towards. him and looked him directly in the eye.

“If you can f**k anyone at any time of the day, then I have the right to leave this place at any time of the day too, Beta Alan.” I sneered at him, and I noticed his hands curled into fists, but he didn’t make any move to stop me.

My wolf and I felt hurt because he didn’t even try to defend himself. I wiped the stray tear from my cheek and ran downstairs in my heels. When I was almost on the last step, my right foot twisted in the heel I was wearing, and I fell all the way down. But the pain that was emitted from my ankle. was not as painful as the pain that was in my heart.

“Sarah! Are you all right!” I looked up from my position to see that it was Noah and Dimitri. Noah quickly came

towards me and carried me bridal style, and took me to the living room.

“You should be more careful when you are coming down the steps, Sarah,” Dimitri said, but I didn’t hear anything that they said.

“Show me your leg.” I looked up to see Noah come back to the living room with a bag of ice cubes, and I extended my right leg to show him my bruised ankle. He kept the ice on my ankle while Dimitri adjusted the pillows that were behind my back.

“Where were you going in such a hurry?” Dimitri asked me.

“I am going to town to see the new shop that I got.”

“Oh, well, looks like you will not be able to go anywhere with that ankle then,” Noah said, and a small smile appeared on my face.

“This is what you call bursting in happiness, Noah. You are bound to break an ankle if you are too excited.” Dimitri joked, and I shook my head, and the two guys had huge smiles on their faces.

“What is going on in here?” all of us looked up to see that Beta Alan had come into the room. And the entire jovial atmosphere immediately dampened.
