“Oh my! Are you all right?” I turned my attention back to the woman, who was now sitting beside me with her baby cradled in her arms. And I gave her a forced smile and a nod. 

“You are bleeding.” I pointed out and moved my glance toward her stomach, and she placed her hand on the stomach and applied some pressure. Soon I heard men yelling from downstairs, and soon hallway was crowded with warriors. A tall and a well build man emerged from the crowd. His eyes were wide with fear, but that soon turned into relief when he saw the woman sitting on the floor. 

“Valerie!” he mumbled and rushed to come towards her, and she too got up from the floor and moved towards the man, in an instant, he took her in his arms with their child and placed a lot of kisses all over her face and their daughter. Seeing this, my eyes watered, and my lips slightly lifted. 

“Sarah!” I broke my glance from the happy couple and turned my attention towards the staircase, where everyone has now moved aside, and there stood Zachary. For the first time, I saw fear in his iris, and my heart melted at that emotion. He rushed to my side and took a seat on the floor. “Are you nuts?” was the first question that he asked when he saw the blood that was gushing out from the stab wound, and the blood that was dripping from the side of my forehead. He quickly placed his hand under my leg and the other on my spine and lifted me. My head started to spin and my vision was getting blurry, but I willed myself to stay awake. 

“Make sure you don’t lose track of that rogue. And report

back to my office once you find anything.” Zachary instructed a warrior and soon ran downstairs with me in his arms. We made it to the hospital wing in under five minutes, and I was soon taken to a room where he gently placed me on the bed. 

“Beta, please step aside, so that we can treat her.” the doctor said, but from the way Zachary was standing there, I know that he didn’t want to leave the room. 

“You can start the treatment. I will not interfere,” he said with finality, and the doctor reluctantly nodded her head, soon the nurses came in, and I was hooked to an IV, and they started to clean my wound. 

“Do you feel like you are numb?” the doctor asked me while she was pressing on my stab wound, and I let out a squeak and shook my head. “You are lucky to have survived that, Miss Williams.” 

“What do you mean, doctor?” Beta Alan asked, and the doctor stepped aside so that my wound was visible to him. An angry growl was heard from the beta, and he curled his hands into a fist. The wound was deep, and it was infected with silver because I can feel the acid burning my skin and muscles. 

“Do you need anything other than the medicines in the hospital, doctor?” 

“No beta, this time we were able to clear the poison just in time,” she said and turned around to take a brown bottle. “I am almost done. You can talk to her once I am gone, beta,” she said and this made my heart start to race. I didn’t want to stay in a room alone with my mate. The doctor wrapped my wound with some gauge, and soon everyone left.

five minutes before he moved away, pulled a chair, and took a seat next to my bed. I fiddled with my finger and didn’t look at his face again, but his glance was burning a hole in the side of my face. “Please don’t tell Noah about this yet.” I blurted out and looked at him. 

“I will not be the one telling him about this, Sarah,” he 

reassured me, and I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulder “Why did you go after that rogue alone?” 

“Beta Alan, I was going to inform you. But, when I noticed that he was not where he was standing, I panicked and ran after him.” I answered, and this made him frown. 

“Tell me everything from the beginning, Sarah.” Zachary gritted out, and I nodded my head and told him how I first saw him, and then I chased after him. 

“Why didn’t you inform anyone of us before you went about your goose chase, huh?” he asked me with a raised voice, and my body started to tremble in fear. His iris was completely black but his voice was still the same, which means that he is 

still in control. 

“I wanted to inform, but when I saw him attacking a woman who was protecting her baby, I couldn’t help but jump in,” I mumbled, I heard the chair scrapping, and soon Zachary held my chin and lifted it so that I was staring into his eyes. 

“You are still in training, and did you even stop for a second to think what would have happened to you? Did you even know that the rogue was ten times stronger than you?” he whispered and yelled at me, his anger was clearly heard. 

“I would have died happily, at least, knowing that I tried my best to save someone. After all, I don’t really have a reason to
