1288 Wouchers 

Sarah Williams – POV 

I slowly brought the phone away from my ear and kept it on my desk. I know that Noah must be pissed because he did see me fight death the first time I tried to fight with the rogue. But, I also know that he will eventually talk to me again once he understands why I did it. I put aside my worries, pulled the files towards me, and started my work, making calls and rechecking all the agreements that needed Beta Alan’s signature. 

Ring ring. 

I looked at my phone to see that the call was from an unknown ID. “Should I answer it?” 

“Well, we wouldn’t know who is calling unless we answer that call,” Jane said, and I listened to her and answered the phone. 

“Hello?” my voice was unsure while I waited for the other person to speak, but all I heard was deep breathing and the sound of honking cars in the background. “Hello, who is this?” I tried again, but the person remained quiet, which gradually increased my agitation. “If this is some kind of a prank call, then I am hanging up right now,” I warned the person, and when I was about to cut the line, heard a gruff voice. 

“Princess.” my heartbeat nearly stopped, and my eyes watered at that nickname. For a moment, I was transported back to the Silver Moon pack when my daddy was still living with us. He was the only person who would call me that, claiming that I was his precious pumpkin and that he would never leave me, a promise that he broke just a few years later. 

Chapter 37 

11 Mouchera 

“W…wh…who are you?” I stammered and got up from the chair with shaky legs. My voice was desperate while my heart was beating a thousand beats per minute. A few deeper breaths before the line went dead. I removed the phone from my ear and tried to call that number, but no one responded. 

I slumped back in my chair, my brain was blank, and my emotions were going haywire right now. Can that be my dad, or was it someone else? I know that it is a dead end because all I heard was his voice and the nickname that he used to call me with. 

Ring ring. 

I quickly got up only to be disappointed because it was the landline, but nevertheless, I answered the phone. “Sarah, please come to my room with two cups of coffee.” it was beta Alan, and I nodded my head. 

“I will be there in a few minutes,” I said and kept the phone and made my way downstairs to the industrial kitchen where a few omegas were working in hast to prepare for lunch. “Miss. Williams, do you need anything?” one of the omegas came and asked me, and I told her that I need two mugs of coffee. 

“Give me five minutes, and I will get it for you,” she said, and I nodded my head while I waited. 

“Here you go,” she said, bringing me the two mugs, and I thanked her before I made my way back upstairs and into beta Alan’s room. The moment I opened the door and I entered, Zacahry looked up from his MacBook. 

“Do you need anything else, beta Alan?” I asked him while I placed the coffee mugs in front of him.

“I want you to take a seat.” he gestured towards the sofa that was there, and I went and took a seat without any complaints. He got up from his chair and brought both the coffee mugs and placed them on the coffee table and took a seat next to

“What is bothering you, Sarah?” this question made me look. up at him with curiosity. 

“Why are you asking me that, beta Alan?” I asked him with my eyes narrowed at him, and he let out a tired sigh. 

“From the moment you came back from Mrs.Quinn’s house, you have been looking gloomy,” he said. 

“Oh, so now you are spying on me too, beta Alan?” I sneered at him, I know that he didn’t do anything, but I was extremely stressed right now. There is a rogue who is set on killing me, while a stranger called and called me by the nickname only my father used. Zachary remained quiet, and he inched closer to me and slowly wrapped his arms loosely around me. It was like an unspoken sentence that said, that if you are not comfortable then you can pull back. But I didn’t want to pull back, after all, because I wanted my mate’s comfort, so I wrapped my hands around his neck and closed the gap between us. I gently placed my chin on his shoulder while he was rubbing soothing circles on my back. 

“You will feel better if you talk to someone about what is bothering you, Sarah,” Zachary mumbled in my ear, and that is when I realized that was crying. “You can think that I am a stranger, Sarah.” he persuaded, but I was having an internal dilemma as to whether I should tell him or not. Will he think that I have gone crazy?

“The ro…rogue, I know him.” I blurted out while I slightly pulled away from him. Zachary had a poker face, but I know that there must be a lot of questions running through his head right now. “It’s not like I personally know him. But, I have this peculiar feeling that I have met him in my life before.” 

“I don’t get it, Sarah.” 

“I don’t know how to explain this feeling, Zachary. But when I stared into his eyes the other day, I felt like I have met him before. But back then, his eyes were filled with life, love, and a lot of compassion.” my thoughts went back to the first time I met the rogue up close at the restaurant. “But now,” I turned around to face Zachary. “His eyes looked dead. He looked lost and tormented.” 

“I don’t still understand you very well, Sarah.”
