Sarah Willaims – POV

I sighed in despair, knowing that now, I will have to confront Beta Alan alone, and after aimlessly roaming around in the pack, I finally drove back to my temporary home. I parked my car in front of the pack house and made my way inside. Every step that I took toward his office, felt like I was walking toward my own doom. “Sarah, will you at least confront Beta Alan regarding our mate issue here?” Jane asked me.

“I am not going to speak about that unless he speaks to me about it, Jane.”

“But, you know the longer we stay away from him, I will start growing weaker.” she asserted, and I sighed and shook my head.

“I know what we will go through because of my decision, Jane. But I am not ready to be rejected for a second time, yet.” I told her, and she snorted.

“Why do you always have a negative taught? Unless we talk to him, we will never know whether he likes us or not. Or, we could manipulate his brain and make him confess what he truly feels about us.” Jane suggested, and my mind was immediately filled with dread.

“Don’t make me do that in front of anyone, Jane. You know how dangerous it would be if we reveal what we are capable. of doing.” I scolded, my heart was palpitating, but I didn’t know how to calm down. Ever since I have come to this pack,

“Fine, do whatever you want,” she said, and then she cut our mind link, and I shook my head at her behavior before I slowly raised my hand to knock on his door.

“Come in.” a deep and sensual voice called back, and I opened the door and slowly entered the room. Zachary was busy with some paperwork, and he didn’t even look up to acknowledge my presence, at the same time, I saw him.

“Beta Alan, I have something I want to talk to you about,” I said, and this grabbed his attention. He looked up at me with a curious glance and dropped all his papers and leaned back on his chair. “I, um, want to rent a shop at the werewolf town for my business. And Alpha Blaze told me to go and talk with you about it.” I said and gave him the paper that the Alpha gave me. After reading the letter for a good fifteen. minutes, he kept it on his desk and nodded his head.

“I have a vacant place a few miles away from the restaurant there. But the place is in a pretty bad condition at the moment.”

“I can fix that, Beta.” I interrupted him, and he narrowed his eyes at me for my action, and I immediately shut my mouth.

“We can finish the paperwork regarding that tomorrow,” he said, and I eagerly noted my head. I didn’t know I would get a place this fast, but I didn’t want to test my luck even more, so I thanked him again and told him that I would come back to finish the paperwork tomorrow.

“Sarah, please ask him about our bond.” Jane kept whining in my head.

“Shut up, I don’t think he is even ready to hear us talk about it.”

“Hear you talk about what, Miss. Williams?” Beta Alan asked me, and that is when I realized that I must have spoken out loud, and I men tally facepalmed myself for that.

“I, nothing, Beta Alan. I will take your leave.” I said, and I turned around and headed to the door, when my hand was on the doorknob, he spoke again.

“I know you must be curious about the mate bond.” this piqued my interest, and I turned around. He had an expressionless look on his face, and I was getting worried about a second rejection. “I have to learn, long back, that a mate is not going to be an active part of my life. Because when I can have sex with whoever I want, I don’t particularly like the idea of being tied down to one person for the rest of my life. And I would have at least considered you if you were someone with a rank, but after researching your background. A lonely mother, and a runaway father. I am having second thoughts.” his words stuck like someone poured acid onto my skin, my eyes burned with unshed tears, but I held them back. My throat tightened, and I wasn’t able to talk for a couple of minutes.

“I would have ignored you if you threw insults at me, Betal Alan. Because, after all, that is the only thing I have been hearing all my life.” I said with a sarcastic laugh. “But, I will not tolerate you trying to blame my mother. And, I don’t care if you accept me as your mate, or not because I am not here to lament, I am here to heal from all the past scars.” I said, and with one last smile, I left his office and ran to my bedroom.

After locking my bedroom door, I fell to the bed and started letting out all the suppressed anger, hatred, sadness, and grief. Why did the moon goddess have to give me a life filled. with negative emotions? I have heard rumors that if your first mate treats you badly, and doesn’t love you, it’s because you have a second chance mate who will love you with all his heart and that you are the perfect match for him. But, looks like that is not true in my case.

I looked to my side to see that my phone was ringing, and it was my mom. So I quickly wiped away the tears and sat up on the bed and answered the call. “Sarah, how are you settling in, dear?”

“I am doing great, mom. This pack was surprisingly very welcoming.” I said, and then, I told her everything that happened from the time I came here, leaving out the part that I have found my second chance mate.

“Sarah, are you sure everything is alright there?”

“Mom, everything is fine.”

“Then, why is your voice sounding sad, Sarah?”
