Alex, his face a mix of embarrassment and concern, struggled to articulate his apprehensions about Lillian’s potential actions against Emma at the charity gala. 

“I can’t say for certain what Lillian might be planning against you, Emma. But considering her past behavior, I thought it prudent to warn you. Whether you take my advice or not is your choice,” Alex spoke, leaving the decision to Emma.
