I close the book and drop my head on the table. "Ugh....this is impossible! Ksaris has been dead for 20 years. His mate just disappeared and aside from being the first Alpha king. This just keeps repeating how cruel and vicious he was!" I yell. My voice muffled by the table.

Lexi and I have been trying to find a connection between the witch and the first Alpha king. And so far we are running in circles. I'm sure something is in these archives and we're just looking over it.

We had a quick Beta female ceremony for her and got right back on track. I am happy for her and Ilad but even they can't focus on their bliss right now. There isn't much to be happy about. Outside of the facade we've been putting on for the kids and the pack. We don't really smile....or sleep.

I look back at the book and flip the page. It says Ksaris was over thrown by his people. That is after he killed every female pup born at the beginning of his reign. That still has me confused. What I am sure of is he was sick in the head... that's for sure.

There's also his twisted plan to build an elite army of wolves. Supposedly there's a rumor of him working with a witch to make these wolves stronger. Faster and bigger. Turning them into something else completely.....Lycans! They are a myth or so we thought.

Yet here we are reading book after book about our founding family. The sick rumors and depraved ideas. I'm almost ashamed to be associated with this man. This book even said the moon goddess abandoned her children while Ksaris ruled. Even she was heart broken.

"Look it says here, his people poisoned him. But not before he administered the first batch of serum to himself." Lexi's eyes grow wide and without saying it. I already knew what she was thinking.

"Cut it out damn it! If...and thats a big if. If it worked there would be documentation of success. Even the prior trial and error.... right." I huff out. Lexi slits her eyes in thought.

"Besides that. Where would the Lycan be now? Wouldn't he of made more or something?" I throw my hands out wide for more emphasis.

Lexi looks back at the book and starts reading again. Her face starts to become perplexed. "What...what did you find." I ask nervously. "Ok, say it didn't work the first time. What if the witch knows where his mate is. This Telth chick."

I look at her nodding for her to continue but not sure I want her to. This line of thinking is getting scary. "So going from Queen to rogue would make her do some crazy stuff...right." She raises an eyebrow expecting the information to click for me. But it doesn't so I just stare at her.

I mull over what she said. The book didn't say that Telth died, only that she disappeared. And who's to say she wasn't still in contact with the witch. Or didn't have knowledge of what her mate planned. What if all they need is his blood. Like linking pack members to the pack.

I shoot out of my chair and Lexi throws her hands up in a finally manner. "Lex your right! What if this isn't about the twins. But the power they possess. They'd make the perfect lycans." I bite my nails and Lexi nods. Her face becoming sad and withdrawn. We have a theory now but no witch to confirm it.

Just then Jara and my dad burst into the library. "We know who the witch is and who she may be working with." Jara frantically states. "Telth." Lexi and I say together. My dad nods and hands me a paper. As I'm reading it my heart drops.

I flop back into my chair, shaking. "It can't be. She's dead isn't she." I look at my dad , then jara who both look heart broken. My dad shakes his head no. "Her body was never found. So it couldn't be confirmed." He says somberly.

Lexi snatches the paper and growls. "Telth is working with who!" She throws the paper and grips her hair. I can't tell if she wants to cry or scream. Maybe even both.

I begin to cry myself. "Our poor babies. If this is true. Do we even stand a chance." We all go quiet. None of us sure of the answer. This won't be just a battle. It will be a blood bath.

Lexi circles the table and wraps her arms around me. We cry together for a few minutes and then leave the library.

We are going to need reinforcements. Someone to help us with a better plan. More power and fast. Because facing this alone we are definitely going to lose.
