Chapter 12

Irene’s POV

Eventually, I found my way to my class. It’s some introductory class to arithmetic.

Great. This was my chance to test all of the running around I have been doing for the Bloodhound pack in the last four years.

When I enter, I can see the piercing gazes of almost everyone. I show the teacher my schedule, and he smiles

“Everyone, we have a new student here. Say hello to Irene!”

Whew, lucky me

I was glad that I didn’t have to do the cliche introduction by myself, and when he pointed at a seat in the corner of the classroom, I almost ran to it.

All settled, I did my very best to pay attention to the multiple formulas and numbers that the teacher wrote out.

I caught up very quickly, and after three solved examples, he dished out a class work.

My seatmate scribbled in his notebook at the speed of light, and I got to work. It took me a few minutes, but when I was finally done, I stretched my spine a little and saw that I had gotten the same final answer as my seatmate.

But that’s when I noticed the silence in the classroom. As I look up, I realise that everyone, including the teacher, is staring at me.

Did I do something?

“What final answer did you arrive at, Miss Irene?” the teacher asked, and my brows raised.

“I got a negative fourteen.  Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

The teacher nodded and then walked down from the slight podium he had been standing to where I was sitting.

Without saying anything, he grabbed my worksheet and that of my seatmate.

After what seemed like a full minute, he dropped them and stared at me.

“If you don’t understand, it’s important that you let your teacher know, as I don’t tolerate lagging behind or trying dishonest methods in my class.

My face flushed at his words.

“I did no such thing!”

“I…” he doesn’t allow me to continue as he interrupts.

“I understand you, Miss Irene. However, this is only a warning for next time.”

I nodded numbly and watched him return to the podium while embarrassment flushed over me.

While I had been slower than the rest, I was sure that they had gotten an earlier education than this. This was my first time in a learning space, and looking into his answer book was so that I could confirm that I had done the right thing.

First, I met three jerks and now this?

Suddenly, I wasn’t so sure of being in this academy or college.

Whatever the fuck it was, I didn’t think I was going to have a nice time here.

Yet, the most miserable part was knowing that I couldn’t call it quits.

In the end, I hadn’t forgotten the most important thing.

I was no longer my own person.

From the moment the Bloodhound pack had sold me to The Medallion, I had lost the right to decide what I wanted

First, it was being displayed by The Medallion and wearing whatever damned outfit they wanted

me in.

And now, it was playing to the whims of three royal brothers.

So, even if I hated this school, even if the last thing I wanted was to be in this classroom, I knew that I had no say.

I had no f**king right over the life that I lived.

They owned me.

And they had more than one contract to show for it.

The remaining classes pass in a blur, and I’m struggling to listen. To be

present.

Before long, the bell rings, and all the students pour out of the classroom.

I heave a sigh of relief before leaning back in my seat. Times like this were when I missed Liv the

most

If she were here, we would have at least had some time fun mocking these people.

We would have talked about the dress that the English teacher had worn from two periods back.

Or how my seatmate smelled like some horrible thing that I couldn’t place a finger on.

I made a mental note to ask Noah if seat arrangements were permanent. If they weren’t, I wanted out by tomorrow.

I sighed and then walked out of the classroom. As tempting as the alone time was. I was famished.

Besides, with what happened at breakfast, I wasn’t looking forward to lunch.

I trudged out of the classroom and went with the crowd in the hallways

The cafeteria, as written on the entrance, is large. And it seems more fitting to be some banquet hall for large gatherings than a place for teens to have lunch.

Noticing the lines, I pick the fastest one and queue behind the last person.

It was only when I got to the front that I realised it was a line for vegetables.

That explained why there were so few people.

The temptation to include some meat in my meal was great. After all, nothing tasted better to Lycans than meat of any kind, but one glance at the long queue and I give up.

I’d settle with the veggies. Some other day, I’d drag myself here faster and stay on the lines with

meat.

Besides, back at the Bloodhound pack, picking my meals was a luxury that I didn’t have.

Just as I settled in my seat at a corner in the cafeteria, a figure loomed over me.

“Can I sit here?”

My eyes meet the familiar face of the girl from this morning, and I glance around

“You don’t have to… It was enough that she had those three at her tail. Besides, I didn’t want company from pity.

“I’m the one that should be worried that you would turn me away.” the girl said with a smirk that had me raising my brows.

Where was all this confidence some hours ago?

“I’d like to hide under the umbrella of Prince Noah’s woman.”

What?”
