I manage to calm down, I don’t know what just happened but the rage I was feeling is something that I have never felt before.

The four are all looking at me trying to make sure that I am really calm, for a split second I could see how afraid they all were.

‘My hair.’ I say touching the strands of gold

Astridah nods

‘Is this going to be permanent?’

‘I should think so, this is something that none of us prepared for. I am guessing it’s because you are carrying Yakari.’

‘I need to know everything about this Yakari, I need to know why I have to be the one that carries this person you all claim to be so great and mighty.’

They all look at O’Brien.

‘What?’ I ask

‘We will leave the two of you alone.’

They all walk out, and a few minutes later someone brings us food. I haven’t eaten anything decent from the time we got here and I am starving.

‘Chicken.’ I say smelling the food that has been placed before us

He laughs

‘You have always loved chicken haven’t you?’

‘There is nothing better than chicken.’ I say picking up a wing and again he laughs

‘I am sorry to have dragged you in all this mess.’

‘You are not sorry O’Brien, you are not.’

‘Babe don’t say that.’

‘Quit calling me babe, I am not your babe. You are ancient and I am just this little girl whose life has been messed up.’

‘You think this is funny?’ I ask when he makes a face

‘It’s good to see you like this, I was almost forgetting my innocent little girl.’

‘O’Brien this is not funny, I have never met anyone in my life who is in a cult or some sort of god or Prince or whatever rubbish you people call yourselves.’

He raised an eyebrow

‘These things are for west African movies, how am I living in it?’

‘Let’s just say that things are not as bad as they seem.’

‘Of course they are, you want to make me believe that my brother was part of some cult and your son is in it. I mean if you knew from the beginning that things would be like this why didn’t you stop it? Why didn’t you do something about it?’

He stands up

‘Because that’s not how things work, because I had one assignment and one only.’

‘And this assignment involved you messing up my life?’

He shakes his head

‘I fell in love with you Wane, that is what happened?’

‘Excuse me?’

‘Yes I fell in love with you.’

‘You can’t be serious.’ I say now on my feet

‘From what you told me there is war coming and if you and your son are on different teams what is going to happen?’

‘I have to do what I have to do to protect Yakari and the rest of the kingdom.’

‘And that means killing your son in the process?’

‘He is not my son.’

I look at him

‘I am a god Wane, I had to.

‘And you being a god means hurting other people?’

‘Wane.’ He says reaching out his hand but I move away

‘You and your people are not as pure as you seem to be, I want to go home and we can not argue about this. If the child I am carrying is strong then there is nothing that the evil world can do about it, but if I have to fight them I want to be with my brother. I want to go home O’Brien and that is final.’

‘Are you sure about this?’

‘Never been surer about anything.’

‘Babe this won’t be easy.’

‘I am ready and when we go back you and I are done, I will bare this child for you people and you can stay the hell out of my life.’

‘Wane you can’t mean that.’

‘Watch me.’ I say looking straight in his eyes and the more I stare the more I feel this power washing over me
