Chapter 16 We Divorced Five Years Ago
“I don’t like the way you’re talking to me,” Colton said coldly, looking at Francesca. She used to be self–centered, but she has completely changed. Now, she’s like a cactus revealing its sharp thorns, which I find very displeasing.
Francesca spoke with a teasing smile. “I really like it, though. If Mr. Zeller can’t adapt, then feel free to leave without a farewell.”
“Francesca.” Colton suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist, his dark eyes filled with turbulent emotions. “Don’t challenge my bottom line.”
Francesca struggled for a moment. Upon realizing she couldn’t break free at all, she simply gave up. “This is crossing your bottom line, Mr. Zhan? Your bottom line must be quite low then.”
With a strong pull, Colton unexpectedly brought her directly into his embrace. Then, he dragged her toward the garage.
“Colton! What are you doing?” Yoel didn’t expect Colton to pull such a
stunt.
Furious, he shouted and chased after Colton. However, the Zeller family’s bodyguards appeared out of nowhere, blocking his path relentlessly. “Let me go!”
The sudden turn of events startled Francesca. She punched and kicked Colton, demanding he let her go.
No matter how much she struggled and fought, Colton remained unperturbed. Expressionlessly, he stuffed her into the car.
The car door was locked, so Francesca couldn’t get out.
With a cold, sarcastic gaze, she said, “After all these years, I never thought

Mr. Zeller would change careers and become a bandit.”
Colton paid no heed to her words, directly starting the car and leaving the old Zeller family residence.
Seeing that he was impervious to persuasion, Francesca felt exasperated. Instead of wasting any more words on him, she turned her head to look out the window.
That was when Colton glanced at Francesca from the corner of his eye.
Perhaps his actions were too rough and caused her skirt to become somewhat disheveled, revealing a large expanse of her smooth and delicate skin.
Five years ago, Francesca always had a hint of worry and melancholy between her brows. At that moment, she had blossomed like a rose, with her facial features becoming much more delicate and exquisite.
Even if Colton was unwilling to admit it, he couldn’t deny that Francesca had been doing quite well in the years since they parted ways.
He pursed his lips and refocused his gaze on the road.
Driving all the way to the villa where the two of them used to live, Colton finally opened the car door and reached out to help Francesca.
Francesca spoke without hesitation as she slapped his hand away. “There’s no need for pretense, Mr. Zeller. I wouldn’t dare to hold the hand of a kidnapper casually.”
Perhaps even she herself didn’t notice that when facing Colton, she would always carry a bit of sharpness that she didn’t usually have.
She got out of the car and stared at the familiar villa in front of her with a touch of indifference in her eyes.

Even after living there for three years, Francesca couldn’t help but admit that the place had never brought her a single day of joy, only endless pain.
“Go on in,” Colton said in a deep voice.
Francesca turned her head to glance at the Aston Martin parked behind her. She contemplated for a moment, considering the possibility of snatching the keys from Colton’s hand and making a quick escape. In the end, she decided against it.
Even after five years, the arrangement of the villa hadn’t changed much, as if it had been frozen in time.
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Francesca’s eyes. “I doubt Mr. Zeller brought me here without considering his reputation just to give me a tour of the villa.”
Seeing her act so defiantly, Colton scowled slightly. “Where have you been these past five years?” Francesca’s disappearance was too clean, which was quite strange.
“In Fruycia. Didn’t you know that, Mr. Zeller?” Francesca casually asked while sitting on the couch.
When she decided to leave the country with a broken heart years ago, she originally planned to go to Fruycia. However, on her way there, she unexpectedly encountered members of the Shelley family who were in Clusia searching for someone. They took her with them to the Shelley family headquarters in Astoria. In the process, they helped her conceal her whereabouts.
After spending a few years in the Shelley family, Francesca had also undergone a complete transformation. She even inherited a considerable amount of wealth.
Just as she had said before, it was no longer as easy for Colton to make a

Colton quietly observed Francesca for a moment, then suddenly said, “The Zabielski family doesn’t suit you. Leave Yoel.”
As he spoke, he took his checkbook from his pocket and began writing. “How much money do you need? I’ll give it to you.”
He didn’t believe that Francesca could have any feelings for Yoel and that their relationship was merely based on money.
