Nine months later

Seth’s POV

Jaxon and I curled up next to the fireplace, engulfed in each other’s arms. I rested my head on his shoulder as he ran his fingers up and down my arm comfortingly, his scent lingering in my nose.

″Hm, what would you like for dinner, Angel?″ He asked me, his deep voice breaking the silence. I tilted my head up towards him, feeling the smile lingering on my lips as he gazed down at me. He had a faint smile on his lips. His eyes were proudly glowing a bright yellow... I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of them.

″We don’t really have anything here... we should probably go to the market tomorrow,″ I said to him. He let out a sigh at my words, pulling me closer in our embrace.

″And move from this spot? Why would I do such a thing?″ He said, placing a soft kiss onto my forehead. I couldn’t help but laugh at his words...

I tilted my head up, my lips meeting his. I brought a free hand up to his cheek as I kissed him. I felt as he smiled into the kiss... I couldn’t help but smile myself. I was so lucky to have him after everything that happened...

After Lilith’s battle of France.

A lot has happened in the nine months after the war. There were many, many deaths. Of course, nobody in my Kingdom was injured... but many warlocks, werewolves, and any other mythical creatures were killed.

It was a very hard time. The district of Ikricaea was completely ripped to shreds due to the war... I’ve never seen anything like it. Everyone contributed to fixing it... but I couldn’t help but feel worthless.

Jaxon and I have gained severe PTSD from the whole war. Of course, I already had it from my kidnapping with Avel, but... we couldn’t bear to step foot into the kingdom anymore. It hurt me greatly, considering I was their king...

...So I stepped down from being the King. I cannot lead a Kingdom after everything I’ve gone through. I know it sounds weak... but every time I tried to step into that castle I just broke down in tears. Every time I step foot into the place I’ve grown up in... I’d go into a state where I’d just keep crying. Jaxon and I would wake up in the middle of the night screaming because of the war... we just couldn’t do it.

My people aren’t angry with me. I left the Kingdom with one final speech... I told them of the loss we had that day. I told them of the blood that was shed. I didn’t tell them what I had done, for the sake of the children’s ears... but they are aware that it may have been one of the most disgusting battles in our dimension’s history.

I have given the king’s crown over to Jules... and my mother’s crown to Estelle. They have been ruling the Kingdom for eight months now. They have been taking care of the Kingdom so well... I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. Estelle still takes care of the poor and the children just fine... even with a child on the way.

One thing I could say confidently is... I brought the Kingdoms together. The mythical world... and the human world.

My people began to trust them when they fought by my side in the war. They no longer have to have walls up against each other... there is plenty of homes and new families in the mythical territory that are human... or even a mix. Plenty of people found new love with warlocks or werewolves. I find it very beautiful.

Jaxon and I decided to build our own home in the woods. Jayce and the rest have offered for us to live with them in Jayce’s mansion... but we thought it was best for us to have our own space. We spent a few months building our own log cabin together. We built our home a little farther in the woods than the rest... when we go to the market in my kingdom, it takes us at least thirty minutes to walk there. Of course, we could use Jaxon’s portals or my shadow traveling... but we enjoy the time we have together.

Jaxon was granted his immortality back of course... but we still love to enjoy every moment we have together. Losing him... I didn’t know how to react. It was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced... I still have nightmares that he’s gone.

Having him in my arms like this... I can’t explain it. To feel his warm body next to mine, to have this house together... I’m so lucky.

″I should go get more wood, Angel.″ He mumbled against my lips. He was right- the fire was almost out.

″Mm, don’t keep me waiting too long,″ I said as I pulled away from his lips. He flashed me a sheepish smile as he pulled himself off of the floor, walking out of the cabin without another word.

Our cabin wasn’t too big or too small. We built it ourselves without any magic... which I take pride in. It had two bedrooms, one bathroom, a small kitchen and living room. It’s all we really needed... it’s just me and him living here. We added another bedroom in case our family came to stay the night.

Alva and Jin thought it was a good idea to build a log cabin themselves too. Their house is the closest to ours- it’s about ten minutes away if you walk. Nobody really desired to be in the kingdom anymore... none of the mythical people do. Of course, we go there when we need fruits, vegetables, and meats at the market- but I don’t think I could live there... The last time we visited without going to the market, Jaxon had a terrible PTSD attack.

The one good thing about the Kingdom is the statue that was put up recently. It’s a statue of me, of course... but I don’t like it for that. It has the names of the mythical people who died in the war. We couldn’t find all of the names or people who fought in the war... but I still appreciate it.

Jaxon and I went to go visit some people today. We visited Remington Channing- one of the soldiers who battled in the war. He’s been having a tough time dealing with the loss of his fiancee, Demetrius.

″If I was only a little bit quicker... Maybe I could have saved him.″ Remington whispered, clenching the guitar closer to his body. He was performing at the local bar on the mythical side of France; though there really isn’t that distinction there anymore.

″You tried everything you could, Remington... don’t blame yourself,″ Jaxon said softly. I watched as Remington let out a shaky breath, reaching back and scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

″Nothing is the same... I feel like I’m losing half of me. He wasn’t my soulmate... but he really was my everything.″ He whispered. A tear streamed down his cheek as the words flowed from his lips. I quickly pulled him into a tight embrace as he sobbed, his body shaking with every second that passed.

″She just... threw him across the Kingdom like a little puppy. Like he was worthless... he was far from worthless. He’s the love of my life...″ He mumbled against my chest, his hands turning into fists. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I held him against me as he cried and ranted. Jaxon and I listened as he told us stories about him... He may not have been his soulmate, but... he really was in love with him. I find that beautiful.

Jaxon suddenly walked back into the cabin with logs of wood in his hands, placing them against the fireplace. I watched as he threw one of the logs into the fireplace, glancing over to me as he pushed the glasses back up onto his nose with a smile.

″You’re right... we should go to the market tomorrow.″ He said to me as he climbed back onto the floor, pulling me against his chest. I placed a kiss on his jaw, his olive skin flushing pink.

″What changed your mind, baby?″ I asked him. He suddenly had the biggest smile on his lips at my words- ever since that day I called him baby... he loved it. It was my nickname for him. He was my baby... though he’s rather tall and more muscular than me, he’s a softie at heart.

″It’s your birthday soon. I want to buy some gifts and wine for the occasion...″ He said to me, a faint smile lingering on his lips. I forgot about that... It was my birthday soon. I’d be nineteen years old... though It doesn’t really matter. I’m immortal... and so was Jaxon.

Jaxon was different. He charished birthdays and holidays even though we were immortal. He loved every moment he had with me... he always kissed me like it may be our last kiss. I love that about him.

″Do you remember your birthday?″ I asked him, curiosity lingering in my voice. His hazel eyes widened, his eyebrows furrowing as he thought.

″...No, I don’t.″ He admitted. I couldn’t help but laugh... he was rather old. He definitely wasn’t as old as Jayce... but old.

″Then let’s celebrate both of our birthdays,″ I said with a smile. His lips turned into a smile at my words, placing a soft kiss onto my forehead.

″I’d like that, Seth.″ He admitted to me.

We spent the next hour preparing dinner together, laughing and speaking of moments that happened in the last year. The good memories that happened. We agreed a while ago that we wouldn’t speak of the battle anymore... it only made us sad. We want to look forward to the future... because we know that we will have a bright future together. It’s just me and him... and of course our family.

And our log cabin in the woods.

″So... the market tomorrow?″ He suddenly asked me before putting the fork full of pasta into his mouth. I couldn’t help but smile at him- his wavy, dark brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail as he ate- his hair grew like mad over the past few months. There was spaghetti sauce on his face...

I leaned over, taking a napkin and wiping the spaghetti sauce off of his face gently.

″Yes, baby.″
