"It's been a week Kayla and he's barely spoken to me. All he does is hide in his office. I'm not even sure if he's eating or sleeping." I complain to my best friend about Kai. I've been so worried about him since he killed his dad.

"He's still processing a lot has happened, Avery. He lost his wolf, his dad, and his best friend. The pack is still mourning also. The memorial service last night was rough."

I know she's right but I'm so used to Kai being the strong one in our relationship. He's struggling and I don't know how to help him. He won't talk to me about it and he's constantly on edge that everyone is afraid to even look at him the wrong way worried he'll snap and kill them next.

Last night we had a memorial service for Matt. I cried the whole time but Kai didn't even shed a tear. He spoke about his memories with his friend and praised him for his work as beta but there was no emotion in his voice. It seemed so scripted and fake.

For now, Lance has taken over as beta but I'm not sure if it's permanent or if he will keep his position as delta. My Luna ceremony is tomorrow but I can't even focus on it. Kayla has been in charge of decorations and catering as I sulk in my room. I won't consider Kai's room ours until he actually sleeps in here.

"Is Bea here yet?" I ask Kayla. She's supposed to be arriving to help with the Luna ceremony.

She nods. "She should be here within the hour." she sits beside me grinning. "I still can't believe Dean is her mate."

"I'm actually not surprised. Bea always insisted he liked me but he never wanted to be alone with me. He always insisted one of you join me and he always asked about Bea. I thought he was just being a concerned friend but maybe he knew they were mates."

Kayla shrugs. "It's possible usually alpha's can sense their mates pretty early on. I have no idea why he didn't act on it though."

"Well, Stars Hollow is pretty traditional so he probably wanted to wait until he was eighteen to be sure. Alpha Craig has always been overly cautious."

Exhaling I stand up. "Right now. He can't keep hiding from me. I know he's mourning but I'm his mate he can't shut me out."

"Good luck," she whispers and I roll my eyes at her comment.

"I'll be fine, I think," I say and leave the room and head down the hall to Kai's office.

I stand outside the oak door fidgeting with my hands. I have no idea why I'm nervous. Kai is my mate he loves me. This conversation will go well. He won't yell or tell me to go away... will he?

My hand grabs the golden door knob and I hold my breath as I enter. My eyes immediately widen at the state of his office. The dimly lit area has papers strewed all over the floor, a knocked-over broken lamp, and smells like rotten food.

"Kai, what is going on here?" I look past the clutter at my handsome mate at his desk. He's wearing a wrinkly food-stained white shirt and gray sweatpants.

He just keeps typing on his computer. "Just sending some emails," he answers without looking up.

"Have you even left this office this week?"

Kai scoffs like my question is so ridiculous. "Of course, you saw me at the memorial last night."

I walk over to him and slam his laptop closed. He finally looks up at me and his eyes are glossy and bloodshot. "That's not what I mean and you know it. Have you showered, eaten, or even slept?"

"I'm fine," he says faking a smile but I know better.

"You're not fine and neither am I. I didn't realize when we lost Matt I also lost my mate! I need you!"

My comment seems to have angered him because he abruptly stands up and grabs my hand. "Do you think I'm a bad mate?" he whispers softly and I reach up and caress his face. He leans into my touch.

"You're a wonderful mate but I don't want to lose you too. I know you're mourning your friend. I didn't know Matt as well as you did but I miss him too. But he wouldn't want you living like this?" I glance around at the filthy office. "I love you Kai I almost lost you. I was so scared." A tear slips down my face and he wipes it away with his thumb.

"I was scared too Avery but I promise I will never let anything happen to you again. You're everything to me. Titan is so mad at me for ignoring you." he chuckles and I smile. "I'm going to do better. I won't shut you out anymore."

"Good because I have something important to discuss with you." I tease him backing away and throwing my shirt off revealing my new lingerie.

He growls and his eyes flash telling me Titan likes what he sees. "It's pink your favorite color."

"Raven and I want you to mark us. We're tired of waiting."

"Fuck." he curses under his breath and claps his hands. classical music plays and a bed appears from the floor.

"Why do you have this?" I laugh and Kai grabs me and throws me over his shoulder. I laugh more as he throws me on the bed and crawls on top of me.

"In case my beautiful mate tried to seduce me in my office. I've been waiting a long time to use it." He growls and crashes his lips onto mine.

We fight for dominance and Raven and I are impatient as we use our claws to tear off Kai's shirt. He smirks and pulls his down his pants before I destroy those next.

Once we're both naked he's plastering kisses all over my chest. My legs are wrapped around him as he pushes inside me making me arch my back and dig my nails into his shoulders.

"Fuck Avery your so wet and tight darling," he whispers along my skin as he kisses up to my neck.

"Kai please," I beg and he starts thrusting harder. His face is in the crook of my neck as he goes in deeper filling me to the brim.

The sound of music is long gone and all that can be heard are our moans and bodies clashing together. The pressure in my stomach is building and I know I won't last much longer before I burst. I grab Kai's face shoving my tongue in his mouth desperate for his kisses.

He's kissing me back just as desperately. We belong together and this time apart has just made us crave each other more. He's my everything nothing will tear us apart again.

"I'm about to mark you are you ready?" he whispers and I nod.

Surprising me Kai pulls out then slams back into me. He muffles my scream by kissing me and then biting my lip. He slows down his pace and then begins kissing the crook of my neck. "Mine!" he growls before his canines pierce into my skin.

"Ahh Kai!" My whole body ripples with pleasure as Kai releases my neck and starts licking the spot where he marked me. When he's done it's my turn. Kai bares his neck at me and I kiss and nip the perfect spot on his neck before I sink my canines in.

Kai tenses above me letting out a deep moan. At the same time, I climax exploding all over him. I release his neck and lick the wound watching my mark magically appear. Grunting Kai releases inside me and practically collapses on top of me.

We're both catching our breath when Kai plants a soft kiss on my lips. "I love you so much, darling," he confesses and I can't stop smiling.

"I love you, Kai, so much."
