Chapter 51 

Josephine explained to Ragnar, “I don’t know anyone here. I just wanted to get some fresh air in the courtyard.” 

“…” Before she could finish her explanation, Ragnar started walking toward Charles. 

Josephine was startled. 

She immediately blocked Ragnar and reached out her hand to hold onto him. “Ragnar, this is the Lambert residence! Furthermore, the Lambert family is holding the banquet today to officially acknowledge Quinlyn, their daughter! Charles also happens to be Quinlyn’s boyfriend,” advised Josephine. 

Josephine heard the Lambert family’s housekeepers and guests gossiping while she wandered around alone in the banquet hall and when she started walking toward the courtyard. 

She knew everything. 

She stopped Ragnar to avoid blowing things out of proportion and deter anyone from realizing that there was something unusual about her relationship with Ragnar. 

Secondly, Diana and Bradley were best friends who had known each other since they were young. Josephine did not want to cause any trouble at the Lambert family’s party. If that happened, it would put Diana in a difficult position to explain to Bradley. 

Ragnar, however, felt that Josephine was shielding Charles. 

Suddenly, anger rose in his chest, and he said through gritted teeth, “That’s great! Just great!” 

Ragnar grabbed Josephine’s wrist and, with a gloomy expression, left without saying a word. 

Quinlyn walked over. 

She saw Ragnar’s back as he pulled Josephine away and left. 

As she looked around, she noticed a man covering his feet while still in pain. 

Quinlyn approached Charles in a few steps. 

She asked with concern, “What’s wrong with you?” 

Charles‘ face turned grim as he choked out, “I’m fine!”

“Did you hurt your foot accidentally?” asked Quinlyn gently, her eyes shrouded in coldness. She comforted Charles, “I’ll help you go to my room to rest first.” 

Quinlyn supported Charles, and they left the courtyard. She took him to the second floor of the Lambert residence to her own 

bedroom. 

“You should have a seat first while I get the first–aid box.” 

After saying that, Quinlyn turned around and left in a hurry. 

Charles walked to the window on the second floor. He watched with a gloomy expression as Ragnar dragged Josephine into the car. 

“Ragnar, are we leaving right now? What about Grandma Diana? Besides, it hasn’t even been that long since you got to the banquet, and the banquet hasn’t even started yet. Do you think it’s such a good idea for you to just leave like this?” Josephine asked her questions in rapid succession to Ragnar, who had a sullen face. 

She could tell that he was angry. She knew his anger was probably due to Charles‘ entanglement with her. 

“Nothing is going on between Charles and me! I know my identity right now. Although we are only married under an agreement, no one will know about our marriage, at present or in the future! However, while we are married, I will not do anything that will harm -your or the Levine family’s reputation!” 

Ragnar gazed at Josephine and said, “Fasten your seat belt!” 

Josephine fell silent and obediently did as he instructed. 

Josephine gazed at the fuming Ragnar and asked, “Where are we headed? Home? Shouldn’t you inform Grandma Diana?” 

Chapter 51 

Ragnar remained silent. 

The sleek–bodied car accelerated as soon as Ragnar stepped on the accelerator, taking Josephine and Ragnar swiftly out of the Lambert residence. 

Ragnar did not take Josephine back to the mansion. Instead, he drove to a condominium near the Lambert residence. 

The car made an emergency stop. 

Ragnar’s face was shrouded with a dark expression as he stepped out of the car. 

“Get out of the car!” shouted Ragnar when he saw that Josephine still had not stepped out of the car. 

Josephine maintained her silence. 

She inexplicably felt she was in danger. 

Although Ragnar was her legally–wedded husband, the fact remained that they barely knew anything about each other before this. 

At present, he was furious and radiating heavy hostility. Josephine wondered, “Is he going to do something to me now that he has brought me to such a strange place?” 

Josephine inexplicably started thinking of some horrible scenes. 

For example, a certain Mr. Longman she saw on TV took his wife to the mountains for a hike because he was overly suspicious. Nobody knew what happened after. 

There was also a Mr. Zimmer who assaulted his wife. The list went on. 

Josephine looked at Ragnar with her dark eyes and thought, “Shouldn’t he be violent? Is he going to kill me for this little thing?” 

Ragnar had already opened the car door. 

His voice was filled with cold impatience as he snapped again, “Get out of the car!” 

Josephine’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. 

Her hands and feet were slightly cold. She trembled as she unfastened her seat belt and stepped out of the car.

Josephine looked at Ragnar with fear–filled dark eyes. “Mr. Levine, where are you taking me? I want to go back home.” “Danny and Manny will definitely start crying if they don’t see me at night! I want to go back and accompany them.” 

Ragnar remained silent. 

He had a dark expression as he dragged her into the condominium building. 

After getting into the elevator, Josephine watched in terror as the elevator floor number rose and stopped on the 23rd floor. 

Ragnar stepped out of the elevator with Josephine in tow. 

He turned left and stopped at the door of a condominium unit. He scanned his fingerprint, opened the door, and took Josephine straight into the apartment. 

The door of the apartment slammed shut behind her with a bang. Josephine’s heart trembled with fear again. 

“Mr. Levine, you won’t do anything to me, right?” asked Josephine cautiously. 

Then, she reminded Ragnar again, “At present, Danny and Manny are very dependent on me. You will find it difficult to get an excellent nanny like me.” 

After blurting that out, Josephine continued to coax Ragnar, “You should know that murder is against the law.” 

“Mr. Levine, you are someone with distinguished status, wealthy, and powerful! I’m sure you won’t break the law for insignificant little me out of anger and impulse.” 

Ragnar frowned after hearing this. 

He dragged Josephine into the bathroom. 

He gazed at her darkly and commanded, “Clean yourself up!” 

Josephine was stunned. 

Chapter 51 

It turned out that he just wanted her to take a shower. 

“He just needed to make it obvious rather than complicate this! Why did he have to look so gloomy and hostile, as if he wanted to murder me? God knows, I was nearly scared to death!” she thought. 

“Oh. Got it,” replied Josephine obediently. 

Ragnar looked at her with dark eyes and continued, “I don’t want my wife to be entangled with another man! This will be the last 

time!” 

“If I ever see something like this again…” He narrowed his eyes dangerously and then continued, “I’ll break the hand that touched you!” 

“If you can’t comprehend that by yourself and continue to get entangled with him, I will not murder you, but I will turn your life into a living hell!” 

Ragnar was not kidding around. 

Josephine defended herself. “I am not entangling with him.” 

“We broke up after I found out that Charles had betrayed me! I have had nothing to do with him for a long time,” insisted Josephine to Ragnar. 

In order to prove her innocence, Josephine continued, “Even if I hadn’t agreed to marry you, Mr. Levine, I still would not have gotten entangled with him!” 

Ragnar sneered in response. 

He looked at Josephine with his dark eyes and said, “Why was he hugging you so tightly if you have had nothing to do with each other anymore? He even wanted to kiss you, right? Do I look like I’m blind?” 

Josephine was rendered speechless. 

She lowered her head and muttered in a low voice, “Since you are not blind, how did you not notice that I was struggling throughout it? Didn’t you see me slapping or stomping his foot hard?”
