Chapter 77 

“What’s wrong? Is there a problem?” Carlos raised his eyebrows and asked. The hostility between his eyebrows instantly overflowed from his sword–shaped eyebrows, making people shiver all over. 

His casual words made Edith’s hair stand on end and her heart beat faster. 

She felt extremely wronged. She had been drenched in the rain, mocked, and almost been targeted by gangsters at night. Moreover, she had been hungry for a whole day. As an elder, not only did Carlos not have any sympathy for her, but he also asked her to cook! 

“Oh my god, what kind of elder is he? Let God take him away!” thought she. 

She suppressed her fear and wanted to get some benefits for herself. She said euphemistically. “Well… Uncle, I’ve been hungry for a whole day. Now I can see stars in my eyes. “Are you planning to let me do it?” He said with a fake smile. 

This smile… 

It reminded her of the smile of the Wolf in the Little Red Riding Hood that she had read in her childhood. It was the same. 

She swallowed hard and didn’t dare to let him do it. 

“Well… the chef hasn’t gotten off work yet…” 

“As a junior, shouldn’t you be filial to your elders?” Carlos said seriously. 

Hearing his words, Edith almost burst into tears. 

She thought Carlos was too cruel to have any sympathy at all. 

At this point, what else could she say? She got up bitterly, pouted and said pitifully, “Then… if I don’t cook well, you can’t dislike me. I can’t make the food as delicious as your chef. 

“Don’t worry, I’ll criticize you fairly.”

Hearing his words, she felt nothing but mentally exhausted. 

She moved to the kitchen reluctantly. When she opened the refrigerator, she saw a lot of spaghetti. With tears of joy, she immediately picked up the soup pot and began to cook. 

Carlos quickly finished the hot toddy, went to the kitchen, and saw that she was boiling water. 

She took out the fresh carrots from the refrigerator and hummed a song while washing them. Unknown as the song was, it sounded pleasant. Her voice was soft and delicate, with a special tone. The sound floated in his heart to touch his heartstrings. 

She looked at the soup pot, as she washed the carrots. So busy was she in the kitchen, like a dancing butterfly. 

The water began to boil and steam curled up. Her outline began vague in the steam. 

At this moment, Edith turned her eyes and saw a pair of clear and bright eyes through a cloud of steam. Carlos‘ eyes were as bright as the stars in the sky, bright and shining. The moment she saw him, she smiled, revealing a line of her white teeth. The dimples on her cheeks were endearing and comfortable, and her curved eyes like two crescent moons were beautiful and attractive. 

She said, “Uncle, do you want the spaghetti with bolognese, or with marinara?” 

Her soft voice, like a kitten’s paw, scratched his heart gently, making him feel an itch in his heart. 

He suddenly looked forward to the days when she would call him in such a sweet voice in the future. How would that feel? 

He smiled gently and said, “Same as you.” 

Then I’ll have some spaghetti with bolognese. I’ll add more carrots for you!” 

“Alright.” 

It was just a simple word, but it was what he wanted, simple, pure, satisfied, and very tempted…
