Chapter

Farren’s POV

I was having an absolute blast on the dance floor when, out of nowhere, someone interrupted me.

“Wow, if your goal was to grab everyone’s attention, you definitely succeeded.”

I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see who it was: Standing there was an incredibly attractive man with fiery red hair and a piercing in his left ear.

“Ever since you walked in, you’ve had my undivided attention,” he said, flashing a mischievous grin.

Although his accent flowed effortlessly, his facial features hinted at his Asian heritage.

‘Maybe he’s a mix of two cultures, I silently speculated.

His eyes were as sharp as a fox, and his nose, though tall, was perfectly proportioned. His flawless white skin only added to his overall charm. And let’s not forget about his impeccable fashion sense – he was rocking a black short–sleeved polo, red slacks, and at silver chain dangling near his hip.

But no matter how attractive he may be, as a married woman like myself, I am not easily swayed.

“I’m sorry but I didn’t quite understand what you were trying to say,” I responded, pretending not to realize that he was flirting with me. I turned around and continued dancing.

However, the man disregarded everything that I had said and he stood in front of m.

Displaying his stubbornness, he said, “Well then, I will be prank and tell you straight ahead. I fell in love with you, Miss.”

His confession only made me frown.

“I was captivated by you from the moment I saw you. Now that I said it right away, then you can’t pretend to be unaware-,” he added

Knowing that this guy wouldn’t stop unless I firmly rejected him, I said, “Look. I’ll be honest too. I know that you’re trying to flirt the hell out of me. But seriously, I’m not interested. So, please back off.”

Chapter 6

My friend, Jasmine, who noticed my predicament, approached with a determined look on her face. It was as if she was ready to punch any guy who dared to mess with me.

“What’s going on? Is this guy hitting on you?” Jasmine asked, glancing at the man. I thought she would stand up for me, but the moment she saw his face, she melted like jelly. “Oh my god. He’s so hot!”

The man chuckled at Jasmine’s compliment, revealing his dimples.

“Yeah, I’m hitting on your friend because she’s gorgeous,” he said, gesturing towards

“Well, I can’t argue with that, dude,” Jasmine, who’s a big fan of mine, agreed, crossing her arms and nodding.

Great, that’s not helpful at all.

I rolled my eyes and stepped in. “I’m actually married.”

Their smiles faded. Jasmine, suddenly remembering, clapped her hands and exclaimed, “Oh right! Damn! I totally forgot. Lol!” She pointed at me and said, “Yep, this woman is off the market now.”

I noticed the man glancing at my finger. “You don’t have a ring, though.”

Ring? I glanced at my hand and remembered that I had left my wedding ring in the car while changing clothes.

“Are you sure you’re married, or are you just looking for an excuse to reject me?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.

“I actually sold my ring to a pawnshop,” I replied, grabbing my friend’s hand and pulling her away from the persistent man who wouldn’t take no for an answer.

“Hold on a second!” the man blocked my path once again.

him a stern glare.

“What if you just give me your number?” he suggested.

I clicked my tongue and reached into my pocket to grab my phone.

“Seriously? Are you actually giving him your number?” Jasmine whispered to me.

In a loud voice, I declared, “No. I’m going to call the police and report him.”

Finally, after I said that, the man made one step away from me. “W–Wow. That’s pretty savage, you know.”

“Yeah, it’s no joke. Leave us alone and scram. My husband is pretty scary, YOU KNOW.”

“Really?” he gasped, scratching his chin. “I’ve never met anyone scarier than me.”

“It’s Alaric Ford!” my friend chimed in, introducing my husband’s name.

“Alaric… Ford?” the man muttered, his hand dropping.

“Yep. If you’re in the business world, that name should ring a bell,” Jasmine added.

“No need to bring up his name here,” I grumbled.

“Your husband is Alaric!” the man gasped, shocked. “That wicked man?”

I glanced at him, realizing that he must have some knowledge about my notorious husband. Strangely enough, I was the only one who lacked any additional information about him, except for the fact that he was handsome yet incredibly rude.

“Yeah,” I replied, gripping my friend’s wrist. “That awful bastard, Alaric. So, if you know him, do us a favor and disappear. I don’t want my husband digging a hole in our backyard.” With that, I pulled my friend away.

Thankfully, the man didn’t follow us.

As we made our way towards the exit, I overheard Jasmine’s laughter.

“Would your husband really go as far as digging a hole if he found out some attractive guy was flirting with you INSIDE A BAR?”

Her question amused me internally.

As if Alaric would even care. Even if a hundred men flirted with me, I highly doubt he would bat an eye.

“The hole is for me,” I explained.

After all, we made an agreement that we wouldn’t get involved with anyone until our divorce was finalized. It’s not because I’m afraid he’ll get jealous, but because I want to keep my promise.

Exhausted from dancing all night and dealing with a stubborn guy at the bar, I returned

home and collapsed onto the couch.

I glanced towards the staircase.

“Oh, Alaric is here,” I thought to myself.

Seeing his car in the garage confirmed that he was indeed home.

“I don’t want to see him right now,” I whispered under my breath.

Planning to head straight to my room, I was just about to get up when…

“Give me your number.”

I gasped silently as I turned my head towards the kitchen.

To my surprise, Alaric didn’t come from the staircase but from the kitchen. It was something I didn’t expect.

Taking a deep breath, I placed my hand over my chest. Then, I remembered what I had heard just moments ago. He was demanding that I give him: my number.

“I just realized that I don’t have your number,” he mentioned. “It’s actually important to have it in case my grandfather decides to call both of us at once or if there’s an event. where we need to be together. So, give it to me?” He held his phone, waiting for me to respond.

I didn’t see any issue with sharing my number with my husband, so I began, “23…” However, I abruptly halted in the middle of my sentence.

Dang it. I literally just changed my number this morning for some reason, and now I do not have the time to memorize it.

“Hold on a sec,” I said, reaching for my phone. But, of course, it was completely dead. I glanced over at Alaric, feeling a bit unsure. “Give me a moment. I can go back to my room and charge…”

“What? You can’t just tell me your number?” he snapped, clearly annoyed.

“Nope,” I replied. “My phone is dead.”

“You didn’t bother memorizing it?”

“Unfortunately, I did not.”

He scoffed and rolled his eyes, shoving his phone back into his pocket. “It was so easy

I made sure not to forget and wore the same dress I had on earlier. I knew he would be surprised to see me in a daring dress that I wore to the bar. But then…

“Tssk,” he clicked his tongue as if he found me repulsive. After that, Alaric walked back

to his room.

I was dumbfounded and couldn’t help but mutter, “What’s wrong with that guy?”

If he were a question, he would be the last question I’d want to encounter on my SAT

exam.

I shook my head and went inside my room.

All I needed was some rest. That’s what I thought.

But the next morning, I was greeted with shocking news on the internet.
