Chapter 25

Solveig POV

I slowly opened my eyes and found whiteness surrounding me. I wasn't in my bed, but in a comfortable white one that belonged to someone else.

I looked to my side and saw the window slightly opened, making the curtain blow as the wind blew into the room.

I got up and made my way out. The grass was soft underneath my feet, as I took in the fresh air. I looked up as saw the sky was bright blue , as the birds flew across it.

The trees were tall and bright green. They looked as though they were piercing their way through the clouds.

The view was breathtaking before me, a large ocean was spread out as far as the eye could see. It reminded me Ragnor.

I remember my heart being removed from my chest before I blacked out.

Does that mean I'm dead??

I didn't mind dying, if it meant he could live on. Maybe I was in heaven now.. I would just have to wait until I could see my angel's face again.

I took in the summer sunshine and closed my eyes.

"My beautiful boy" I heard from behind me. I turned around with wide eyes and saw my mother standing there. Dressed in white , she really looked like an angel.

She looked much younger than she did when she passed away. She looked happy and at peace here.

She walked towards me and pulled me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her towards me. It had been so long since I held my mother like this.

"You've grown so much" she said cupping my face.

"Am I dead?" I asked her. She chuckled.

"No silly. Your heart is recuperating.. this is a dream" she said pinching my nose.

She walked with me, her arm wrapped in mine, as I told her about Ragnor.

"He sounds like a lovely boy. I only wish I could have met him" she said.

"You would've loved him. He's got such a big heart.. much like yours mother" I said smiling.

"Hmmm. Do you love him?" She said as she ran her finger through the flowers.

"I do.. I love him so much mother."

"Then make sure you tell him everyday. Let not a day pass without telling him. And take good care of him, son" she said as she kissed my forehead.

"I will mother. " I pulled her into a hug and whispered..

"I love you mother."

She held the back of my head and said.

"I love you to my son. Now it's time for you to go back. Pass my love your brothers" she said as she broke our hug.

A white light appeared , blinding me.. I closed my eyes for a brief moment and when I opened it again, I found myself in my bed.

I blinked a few time to accustom my eyes to the sudden change of light. I looked around my room and saw Gunner sleeping in the chair next to my bed with his head on the bed.

I poked his cheek making him stir and complain in his sleep. He slowly opened his eyes and jolted awake when he saw me.

"Brother!! You're finally awake.. I thought you were dead!!" He screamed and hugged me so tight , I couldn't breathe.

I tapped his back indicating that I needed some air right now, he pulled away and apologized.

"How long was I asleep for?"

"About a week" he said.

I widened my eyes at his response..

"A week!! Where's Ragnor?" I jumped up ignoring the pain in my head and I climbed off my bed and wobbled. Gunner caught me and said

"Easy brother. You've been asleep for a week. Your body needs to wake up still. Here I'll take you to him."

I walked into the room and saw him laying on the bed. He looked so lifeless ,just laying there. The only thing that assured me that he was alive was the slow heaving of his chest, and his heartbeat..

I closed my eyes and listened to it. It matched mine. Every beat it made, was identical to mine.

I sat down on the chair and took his hand in mine. I raised it to my lips and kissed it. I moved his hair out of his face and kissed his forehead.

"That weirdo devil-looking person said he'd wake when you did.. so we've all just been waiting. His wound however , is completely healed" Gunner said as he stood behind me.

I looked at him sleep and saw him move slightly , before he opened his eyes slowly. I looked into those pale blue ones as they stared deep into my dark ones.

"Baby.. Are you okay.. can you hear me?" I asked him, still holding his hand. His grip on my hand tightened as he spoke.

"I can hear you" he said in a such a raspy voice but it still sounded beautiful to me.

I felt my tears begin to flow as I held on his hand.

"I'm so sorry. It was all my fault. I only wanted to protect you.. I never meant to hurt you." I said as I cried.

I felt him raise his hand and cupping my cheek with it. He wiped away the tears coming down with his thumb.

"It's. not. Your. Fault.." he said in between breathes. Somehow all the blood he coughed up must have scratched his throat, making it difficult for him to talk.

"I love you.. I love you so much.. I love you more as each day passes. I love you so much feels like I'm going to burst." I said as I leaned down and pressed my lips to his.

I felt him smile into our kiss and wrap his hand around my head pulling me closer to him.

I missed him so much. I missed this feeling. The feeling of being filled from within. Of being content and at peace.

"Wow.. I'm never getting tired of this!" We both laughed at the sound of Gunner's voice behind us.

"Okay okay.. I'll leave you two. Remember, no funny business.. you're both still healing!!" He yelled and ducked as I threw the pillow from the couch at him.

"He can be a bit too much at times. Just ignore him" I said .

"He's funny.. I like him" he said as he laughed .

I raised my eyebrow at him and smirked..

"More than you like me??"
