Chapter 20: Galactic Travels to Switzerland
Galactic and Sergey have been very busy working. One evening the FBI agent calls Galactic.
FBI agent: “Galactic, it’s the FBI calling.”
Galactic: “How are you? What’s up?”
FBI agent: “There’s a situation in the alps near Geneva. Several climbers have been injured. The rescuers haven’t been able to get to them. This doesn’t concern the FBI, but the rescuers are friends of mine and they need someone to get them to safety.”
Galactic: “How soon would I have to leave?”
FBI agent: “As soon as you pack your gear.”
Galactic: “Okay. Give me the instructions and the exact destination.”
The FBI agent tells him exactly where the accident took place and who to meet at the base of the mountain.
FBI agent: “I took the liberty of telling the rescuers that you were available. They’ll be waiting for you. How long will it take you to get there?”
Galactic: “I should get there within the hour. Will you be coming?”
FBI agent: “Yes, I’ll be there at the end of the day. My flight is leaving now. I’ll meet you after the rescue at the celebration.”
Galactic: “I hope they’ll be a celebration.”
FBI agent: “You’re superhuman. I know they’ll be a celebration.”
Galactic: “Thanks for your support. I’ll see you soon.”
Galactic calls Sergey to tell him about her assignment and that she’ll be home later that evening. She gets her equipment together and takes off.”
Galactic arrives in Switzerland and heads towards the base of the mountain. She meets the person in charge of the rescue. He tells her where the climbers are located. She heads there and reaches them in one minute.
Galactic: “How are you doing? I’m here to get you off the mountain.”
She examines the climbers. Two are injured and one is okay. One has a broken leg and the other has a scrape on his head. She makes a splint for the one with the broken leg with tape she has brought with her.
Galactic: “This is what I’m going to do. I’m going to take Jim down first. He must be attended to immediately. In less than a minute I’ll be back for both of you. Okay?”
First climber: “How are you going to do that? It’ll take hours to get someone down this mountain especially an injured one.”
Galactic: “Don’t worry about it. I’m Galactic, a superhuman robot and I can fly. Just watch me.”
Galactic picks up the climber with the broken leg and effortlessly flies down the mountain in thirty seconds. She hands him over to the rescuers. Before he can thank her, she flies back up the mountain, picks up the other two men and flies back down again.”
Second climber: “I want to be a superhuman robot. Thanks so much. We would have been stranded up there for hours or days if it weren’t for you.”
Galactic: “Yeah, I know. Someday maybe you can be a superhuman robot.”
The man in charge couldn’t believe how easy the rescue was for Galactic. He wants her to be a member of his team. She agrees to it.
They plan on celebrating with the one climber who isn’t injured and the rescue team and bystanders who live in the area. Suddenly Galactic has to sit down. She’s out of power and can’t function. If she were totally human, she would have been terrified.
Galactic thinks, “What did I forget to do to keep my body functioning? She thinks about it for a few minutes and realizes she forgot to put the fuel in her body a few days ago.
Galactic: “I’m out of fuel and out of power. I need some fuel now.”
She tells the rescuers what type of fuel she needs.
Mountain Rescuer: “We have gasoline. Can we use that?”
Galactic: “That will keep me going for a few hours until I get home.”
They get the gasoline, Galactic puts it in the opening in her leg and immediately her power comes back.
Galactic: “I’m ready to celebrate now. Let’s do it big.”
Mountain rescuer: “You’re very much like a car, aren’t you?”
Galactic laughingly says, “I’m more like a spacecraft. Where are we going?”
Mountain rescuer: “To a great pub to have some drinks.”
Galactic: “I don’t drink. Do they have cake there?”
Mountain rescuer: “They have lots of food and all kinds of cakes. Let’s get going.”
At the restaurant Galactic relaxes and tastes some French toast. “Galactic thinks, “This is delicious. I think I’ll take another bite,”
After the celebration Galactic goes home on a commercial jet. She didn’t have enough fuel to get home on her own power.
