Galactic: The Superhuman Robot -
Chapter 21: John’s Party
John recovers from his illness and decides to have a barbecue to celebrate. He invites the employees of Science Only, Galactic and Sergey, the other superhumans, Galactic’s friends in the FBI and the NYPD and their wives.
At 12: 00 PM fifty people arrive at John’s house. It’s a beautiful summer day; just right for a barbecue.
John hired a country band and told everyone to bring their bathing suits. He has a huge pool in the back of the house and he expects people to go swimming.
There are two grills on the deck and there’s seating for seventy people. An awning covers the deck.
Galactic and Sergey arrive with the other superhumans.
Galactic: “Hey John, I want you to meet my friends.”
They all exchange greetings.
A few moments later the others arrive.
Galactic: “John, this is some setup you have here. You’ve done a great job with the house.”
John: “Thanks; it was a lot of work but well worth it.”
John puts the hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. He also has potato salad, French fries, pretzels, salad, fruit and a huge array of desserts. Galactic’s impressed by the spread. She plans on tasting everything. The band is playing Willie Nelson’s ‘Always on My Mind,’ one of Galactic’s and Sergey’s favorite songs.
Sergey: “How did you know that’s one of our favorite songs?”
John: “I have ways of finding out things. Don’t forget I’m a journalist.”
Sergey laughs.
Everyone’s sitting around finishing up the hotdogs and hamburgers. They’ve started on the dessert. Some are in the pool. It’s a great party.
Suddenly there’s a loud noise. A single engine plane is flying above the house and obviously in trouble. It starts to descend. Immediately Sergey flies to the plane, along with Galactic and the other superhumans
Galactic sees two people in the plane. She tries to remove the pilot from his seat, but the seat belt is stuck and won’t open so she removes the pilot seat and all.
Sergey sees a passenger and removes her while the other superhumans hold up the plane and carry it to a field next to John’s house.
Everyone’s stunned by the event which only lasted a couple of minutes. The passengers are a young couple.
FBI Agent: “Are you injured?”
They’re too stunned to answer.
NYPD officer: “I think they’re in shock.”
Another NYPD officer attends to them. After a brief but thorough exam, he confirms that they’re fine.
NYPD officer: “They just need to rest.”
An officer gives them water. They feel better. They stay for the party and are taken home later.
Galactic: “Sergey, you did great. You’re as strong as the other superhuman robots.”
Sergey: “Thanks, I know.”
Sergey’s proud of himself. His mission to help mankind has begun.
John: “Attention everyone. I want to thank you for coming to my barbecue. I hope you’re all having fun. What makes this party unforgettable is the rescue of our two new friends.”
John points to the young couple and offers a toast, “To your health.”
Everyone drinks up except the superhuman robots, but they taste the drink and seem to like it.

John: “Enjoy the rest of the party.”
Someone has a request for the band to play ‘Baby Come Home with Me’ written by Sylvia Semel.
The party ends with that song.
