Marina places a plate of pancakes in front of me and my face lights up, it's better then canned peaches. "Any plans for today?" Marina asks and gets back to dishes.

"Fiona and I are having a welcoming party for her sister." I decide not to bring up the appointment since I haven't told Henry yet.

"That sounds fun." She smiles.

"Am I invited?" Henry butts in with pancakes shoved in his mouth. "Because a party without me is not a party."

"Of course you are Henry." I roll my eyes.

"So I heard Sebastian told you about our mother." He says rather bluntly in front of Marina. Maybe she knows too.

"Um, yes he did."

"What else did he tell you?" I wonder if he knows about the pregnancy.

"Just that." He shrugs and my nerves relax. I don't even want to know how he would react. He would probably go on about how his prayers came true.

"I'm a little confused, if your mother is uh, gone, then who did I meet?"

"That was my fathers second wife, he remarried after our mother died. He thought it would help him get over her." He explains. "She helped raise us so we just call her mom. But she and my father don't talk much anymore."

"Oh." I mumble and eat a piece of pancake. "So where's your dad?"

"I have no idea."

It doesn't seem to bother him so I choose to leave it at that.

"Are you almost ready?" Sebastian comes into the kitchen and I nod.

"Where are you guys going?" Henry asks.

"To the store, the pet store." I lie and smile. "I want to get bruiser new toys."

"Well that's sweet, let me come with."

"No!" I say rather quickly. "I want to surprise you with the things I pick out."

He waves it off, "I think that's a great idea, I didn't want to get dressed anyways. Bruiser and I will be waiting then."

"Great." I awkwardly smile and turn to Sebastian. "You ready to get some dog toys?"

"Oh for gods sake." He mumbles under his breath so Henry won't hear him. "We better get going."

"We'll see you when we get back then."

Sebastian and I leave the house and get into the car. I buckle up while I realize we have to go to the pet store now too.

I chew on the inside of my cheek just thinking about my first appointment. We'll find out how many weeks I am, how the pregnancy is going and if everything is okay. Which is something Sebastian needs to hear. I can't wait, I'm too excited.

Sebastian pulls out of the driveway and we're on our way.

"I wonder if it will be a boy or a girl." I say out loud, hoping to get Sebastian involved.

"Whatever is fine." He says and keeps his eyes on the road.

"Are you excited to get there because I can't wait. In the movies they say the gel for ultra sounds is cold, I wonder if it really is. I guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks to find out. Right now I just want to know for sure if I'm pregnant." I ramble on until we reach the doctors.

When we arrive I walk up to the desk with Sebastian to get checked in. After I sit down in a waiting chair beside him and pass time by reading a magazine. All the women in these magazines look so beautiful, but Fiona tells me it's all photoshop. I wonder if it really is.

I glance up to check the time but when I do I spot a young girl standing at the desk. When she turns I can't help but feel like I've met her before. Suddenly she notices me and she stops in her tracks. "It's you." She breathes out, almost in disbelief.

In that moment my memories begin to flood back, I know her, I saved her life.

Immediately I stand up and rush to her. "I know you, I met you in the cell."

"They told me you were the reason I was freed." Tears begin to brim in her eyes. "I thought I would never get to thank you."

"Well I'm glad you're okay and living life." I glance down to her gigantic belly. "You're pregnant?"

"Yes, just reached thirty weeks." She smiles and places a hand on her tummy. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"I am too, well we think so." I lightly laugh. "This is my mate, Sebastian." I gesture back to him but he's lost in a business magazine.

"Alpha Tate." She mutters unsure. "You're his m-mate?"

"Well yes, he's not that bad anymore. I like to think I've made him a more caring person."

"I'm sorry, but I can't be around him, I-I have to go."

"Wait!" I shout to her before he hurries out the door. "At least give me your phone number, I'd love to talk again."

Quickly she fishes a pen and sticky note from her bag before scribbling down a number. "Please be safe around him and take care of yourself." She quietly mutters to me before leaving.

My brain can't seem to process what just happened, it all happened too fast. The girl from the cell so long ago, that was her, she's alive and pregnant. Before I can feel happiness for her I glance back at Sebastian, thinking about what she said.

"Who was that?" He asks with his eyes still fixed on the magazine.

"A friend from a while ago," I somewhat lie, "we just had to catch up a bit."

He nods and soon enough a nurse calls us up. Everything seems to run in slow motion as I stand up and walk towards the woman behind Sebastian. My breathing stays calm but my mind seems to run wild with thoughts and questions. How well do I know Sebastian? Surly I know more then enough, right? He told me about his mother, and, and what else? Why can't I think of anything else? I know I know more about him.

The nurse points towards a room and I follow Sebastian inside.

What's his fathers name? What's his mothers name? How am I having his baby and I don't know these things? Henry is his younger brother, and, and what!

I stare at the examination table as Sebastian takes a seat in a chair off to the side. "Everything okay?" He asks casually.

I bite my lip and shake me head, no. "Everything is not okay."

"Well, what's wrong?"

I stare at him, into his eyes, "who are you?"

He seems to take my words as some kind of joke. "Are you feeling okay?"

I ignore his question and turn to my side. I see myself in the mirror hanging above he sink, I see a person, a person I didn't want to turn into. Here I stand in a doctors office, pregnant. My mother is dead and my grandmother might as well be too. My father is emotionally broken and can't accept the fact that his mate is gone. Is this as far as my life goes? Pop out a few kids and play the First Lady?

"Evangeline?"

He calls my name but I continue to look in the mirror. "I met her in the cell, back when we first met."

"Did she get you all worked up-"

"She woke me up."

I told myself I was going to be more then this, more then some sad girl playing mommy. I was kidnapped for gods sake, how am I alright? How am I acting okay? I tore someone apart. "What the fuck?" I mutter incoherently.

"Woah, honey calm down." Suddenly his hands touch my shoulders and Sebastian appears in the mirror behind me. "Why don't you take a seat and some deep breaths?"

"I can't do this right now."

"What do you mean?" He asks.

I look back and straight into his eyes. "I need to get out of here."

"Okay, let's go get some fresh air then." I nod and we leave the room. We pass Doctor Swanson in the hall and Sebastian tells her we need a minute. He opens the door for me and I walk through, letting the fresh air fill my lungs and clear my mind. But my mind has already been cleared.

"I need to go."

"What are you talking about Evangeline?" He places both hands on each side of me. "What's gotten to you? Just in the car you were completely fine."

"I don't know."
