"She told me I wasn't safe and that it wasn't Kandy and that the forests in borders isn't safe-"

"Calm down," Sebastian tells me and takes me down to the couch. I take a few deep breaths and look back at him.

"There's more people, it wasn't just Kandy who wanted to kill you. Maybe rouges want to try and over throw us!" The last thing our family needs now is threats from rouges, especially with Caroline being so young and defenseless. "We have to snip it in the bud and find them."

Sebastian glances away. "It may be to late to snip it in the bud."

"Why? What happened?"

"The day you went into labor we found some camp site by the borders, in land. It is most likely the people who are causing her to tell you this."

"What do we do?" I look up at him. I wish the moon goddess could have told me more, but she cannot be the cause of life or death. Why does someone have to die? Well, we are going to try and stop this nonsense, hopefully in time so there is no need for death, but there is always that ending being possible. Caroline, Sebastian, Henry, Fiona, none of my family is safe.

What rouges would try and over throw a pack like ours in the first place? Most small packs are easy targets, but I guess these scumbags are in it for the big win. This entire situation is turning into a larger mess and I hope the moon goddess was being truthful when warning me. If our pack lands are no longer safe, then not only us, but our pack is at risk. Kandy attempted to play us, what if there are more traitors like her? There are too many questions without any answers.

Suddenly the doorbell chimes, pulling me from my worrying thoughts. Sebastian squeezes my hand reassuringly before getting up and answering it. I hope it is Fiona, I hope she does not hate me too much.

"What are you doing here?" I hear his ask and I turn around.

My head seems to spin when I notice my father standing in the doorway. "Dad?"

"Evangeline, I have missed to terribly, going off to the new pack was a horrific idea. Please, forgive me for abandoning you." He rambles. "I cannot keep making these mistakes and hurting my family, I left my only daughter while she was pregnant- but, not anymore? Where's the child?"

"She's taking a nap."

A smile lights up his face. "A girl, how wonderful. She'll be a lucky one if she ends up with your beauty."

I get up from the couch and hesitantly walk over to them. "What happened at the new pack? Why have you come back here after all that has happened?"

He shakes his head and steps inside, Sebastian closing the door behind him. "Those people, they plan to take over the pack, I've come to warn you. The new pack was never a true idea, they only want to steal what has already been established and the Tate pack is something to be proud of."

"They're the ones trying to over throw us!" I grasp Sebastian's arm but he does not seem fully convinced. "Thank you dad, thank you for warning us and keeping my family safe!" I cannot help but wrap my arms around him and he hugs me back. This is the first time in a while that I have felt like someone's daughter.

"Of course my darling," he says over my shoulder, "I would do anything to protect you and your child. I'm sorry I have ever left and almost joined that pack of monsters. Only terrible people can conjure ideas so cruel. They planned on killing off the Alpha bloodline and taking rule over the members, enslaving them all."

My heart races in my chest at his words. Never did I think in a million years that my father would be apologizing and holding me so lovingly. "You're saving our pack, thank you, thank you."

"Evangeline, where is the baby?" He asks as he leaves our embrace.

"Come, she's upstairs." I take his hand like a young girl again as I lead him up to the nursery. I cannot help but glance back at him with my cheeks pink and a childish smile plastered on my face. It is like I am seven again and I am showing him my doll collection. "Her name is Caroline."

"What a pretty name, fits nicely with yours and Sebastian's."

I pull him into the room and we walk up to the crib with little Caroline laying inside. Her eyes are open and gazing up as if her life and being depends on me. "Oh darling, how perfect is she." My father picks her up gently and her face scrunches up. "She looks just like you did when you were this tiny."

I hold onto her soft, little hand as she begins to cry. "Caroline, stop that, this is your grandpa."

He rocks her back and forth but she cannot seem to calm down. "You know, she's probably just cranky. Maybe it's time to change your diaper? Is that why you're being fussy?" I playfully talk to her but she only continues to wail in my fathers arms.

"You were just the same, always crying." He chuckles and I roll my eyes.

"Stay here dad, don't go running all over the place anymore. The new pack was a mistake and I'm sure Sebastian is going to stop this all thanks to your help."

"Yes, I do have more information on him, to help grab them all." He gently places her back in the crib and she seems to calm down. Maybe she doesn't need a diaper change after all. "I want all these men in the cellars." S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"So do I." I agree and we leave the room. "I'm just glad to see that you're safe and healthy."

He swings his arm around my shoulder. "You know, the small journey really helped me come to terms with your mothers death and I think I am ready to move on, ready to fix our family."

"I have missed this part of you dad. I always knew you were a good man." When we come back downstairs I see Sebastian quietly speaking with Andrew in the living room and when they notice us they stop.

"She's a lovely baby." My father tells Sebastian and he smiles, almost as if he put a guard up between him and my father.

"Yes, she's everything I hoped for." She says back and I study the weird interaction. What were they talking about before we came down?

Andrew watches my father closely and I can't help but raise an eyebrow. "Sebastian can we talk for a moment?" I grab onto him and drag him into the hallway, near his office. He gives me a weird look but before he can say anything I take over.

"What's wrong with you? My father comes back and you are treating him like some sort of stranger."

He sighs, "I don't trust him."

I step back and scoff. "Did you not hear everything he told you? He wants to help us stop these maniacs. You should be grateful he gave you such information, and he knows more. With his help we can fix this issues and move on with our lives much quicker."

He runs his hand through his hair, almost like he didn't listen to a word I said, but instead spend the short moment thinking.

I groan. "Stop over thinking this. He is my father."

"I know, but I can't help that my gut feels differently then you. Isn't it weird that he just shows up suddenly and plays the good guy after leaving?"

"He made a mistake, and I forgive him."

He places his hands on my shoulders. "I told you that I would do anything to protect you, even if your family gets in the way of that."

I shake his arms off. "He is my father! He is trying to help!"

"And I am looking out for us."

I sigh and lean against the wall, his eyes watching me. "Why can things never be simple around here?"

"Because I am an Alpha and you are my Luna, and I need you to trust me. I'm not asking for you to turn on your father, but just keep an open mind and don't let your guard down."

I look away, down the hall. "Fine, but when he helps us captured the rouges and does nothing but good you will see I'm right."

He nods and leans down, placing his lips gently on mine, and I that moment there is no more worry only us. His hand snakes around my neck and he lifts my head up, only to pull away, but he keeps his forehead resting on mine. "Are you going to trust me?"

I swallow and open my eyes to search in his. "Yes," I breath against his lips and before I can help myself I connect them once again.
