Chapter 10 - Harbingers' Reckoning

"Where did you go?" Aurora asked once she was closer. I looked toward Radiance and she was slightly shaking her head at me. "I left," I simply responded. "That's not Dawn!" Cassius shouted out of nowhere. "Wait is that-" Cassius stopped speaking when he noticed the scroll Radiance decided to bring with her. That Hidden Worlds scroll she was reading last night. "Dawn's replacement has good taste," Cassius said jokingly. Seeing Cassius' reaction made me feel a bit better. A lot would be unable to tell Radiance isn't Dawn because from what I've heard, they look exactly alike but Radiance is just a bit older.

I stood on a nearby tree stump and shouted over the small crowd, "Embers of the prophecy-"

"We need a name for the team," Radiance interrupted. Everyone else nodded in agreement, even Asteria who is usually careless. To be honest, I kinda agreed. Constantly calling them Embers of the prophecy was not only boring but also unnecessarily wordy. "Alright, any ideas?"

"Viator's Guild!" Cassius shouted.

"Doesn't that just mean traveller's guild?" Helia asked, confused.

"Yeah, but it's Latin, and everything sounds cooler in Latin."

"Really? I was thinking something like Harmony's Harbingers or Destiny's Harbingers. They not only sound cool but make more sense compared to Traveller's Guild," Radiance interjected

"Whatever." This was one of those fights that weren't an actual fight or an unserious fight. I wouldn't even classify it as a fight. What mattered was Cassius was genuinely getting along with our "Ignisarbor" when in reality she was an Abyssal as Queen Vipress calls them. I was still confused about why they had to be a completely different breed. I guess because of their ability to camouflage in any environment. Some of the dragons in the Abyssals however looked more like other breeds. Like Radiance looked exactly like an Ignisarbor. No one would know she wasn't unless I physically told them. "We'll go with Destiny's Harbingers," I said. I could hear Radiance quietly whisper yes in a mini celebration. Cassius didn't seem to care that we didn't go with his idea and I wouldn't be surprised. Radiance came up with a decent name for us.

"Alright, attention Destiny's Harbingers. We now have all the Embers of the prophecy and by Queen Galaxia's command, we'd show up to the Stella Alis council. The Alpha's Rock - as Aurora calls it - is just up ahead," I said. I could see Aurora, curl her tail around herself in slight embarrassment when the others looked at her. "It looks like one, okay," she said. I jumped from the tree stump and we began heading up the trail. Radiance was walking just beside me, Lumina was behind Radiance and I while Cassius and Helia walked side by side and Aurora and Asteria did the same. They were getting along much better despite the whole ordeal back at the Stella Alis council. Aurora's scratch was still healing and still looked as bad as it did when she first got it.

She just kind of ignored it at this point. Radiance saw me looking back at Aurora and when she did too she noticed the scratch. "How did you get that?" she asked Aurora

"Asteria did it, it's not as bad now but still hurts," she responded

"I can try healing it," Lumina said.

"Sagas can do that?" Cassius asked.

"Not all of them, but my power to heal is why I'm a Saga Dragon." I guess Lumina and Aurora settled their differences? I thought. Maybe they finally realized how important the prophecy is? We all stopped trekking onward and Lumina headed over to Aurora. "Now you may feel a stinging sensation but once it's gone all that's left will be a scar," Lumina said to Aurora. Lumina gently placed her talons to the scratch on Aurora's snout. Afterward, the area around Aurora's scratch began glowing a golden hue and when it did, Lumina stepped back. Aurora hissed in pain from the stinging sensation while the golden hue was there and when it vanished, her pain subsided.

All that was left in place of the scratch was a scar in the same shape. There was a shocked expression on Aurora's face. "How did you do that?" she asked. Lumina just shrugged with a slight smile. "It's what the healing Sagas do," she responded. "It tends to come in handy when it comes down to it. I don't use it often but when I do... There is a reason." Aurora just looked confused, not about the instant battle scar. About Lumina's "Reason to heal her."

We began heading up the path once again and arrived at Alpha's Rock. It was just known to me as that now. "Ready for another 45-minute flight?" Aurora asked. "I guess..."

"I want to hear more confidence," Aurora said. "Fine?" I said, confused.

"Good enough, let's go." Aurora came up to me as the others began flying. Instead of gesturing to her back like the last two times, she instead kneeled. I guess, wanting to make it easier for me to climb on. She had a reassuring smile on her face as she waited patiently. She was now starting to understand how nerve-wracking this was for me. I never did well with heights but since coming here, dragons as a form of travel was just kind of growing on me. After contemplating for a solid five minutes, I eventually gained the courage to climb on. I found it funny how the first one I was constantly refusing, in the second one I was terrified but I hid it with a positive demeanour and the third time, I was cowardly.

But it was because I could tell a storm was about to roll in based on the dark gray clouds hovering over Stageweight Hills. "Alright, I am going to take off now, hold on tight because I will be flying fast to catch up with the others," Aurora said as she flew off the ground with strange grace. At least she let me know this time because she didn't last time and I nearly fell into the depths of the ocean. Riding a dragon to get across the ocean wasn't what I was expecting to do when I first arrived here. Then again, I didn't expect to be saving an entire world with a team of six dragons by my side either.

Aurora eventually caught up to the rest of them and the wind began picking up. It was pushing against the directional flight of Destiny's Harbingers. I loved that name for us. It sounded like we were the chosen ones to save a council corrupt and astray, it sounded awesome until I realized... We were the ones destined to save a council corrupt and astray. So the name didn't sound awesome because were doing something awesome. So the name sounded awesome alongside us. "This wind sure came out of nowhere," Asteria said. "Gee, no wonder," Aurora responded sarcastically. The rock however wasn't the one we saw on the Alcove Coast, it was one that looked much like it though.

We all landed on the beach just as it began raining. The Alpha's Rock happened to have a cave on it. I double-checked this time and it seemed uninhabited. The last thing I wanted was a similar incident to the last time we were here. "Alpha's rock! There's a cave up there, we can wait out the storm," I said. We all arrived at the bottom of the ledge and climbed up, entering the dark cave. Although this one was uninhabited, there still was another dragon lurking in the shadows.
