Chapter Forty Three

“What do you want?” Bethany asked plainly.

Her question did exactly what she’d hoped, it brought Sarah a step closer to the group.

“I want to pay Daniel Morris back for the life he gifted me. You see, I like balance.” The rogue gestured for her followers to encroach more on the campers. “He killed my mother. So I’m going to kill his son.”

Everyone around the campfire exchanged glances. In an instant, the scene began to change. Bethany grabbed the wolf bearing down on her, she threw him off balance and into the campfire. He began screaming and writhing as flames engulfed his hooded jacket.

David shifted without waiting another moment. He tore into the leg of one rogue before turning toward Sarah. Dylan kicked one of them away before wrestling the other to the ground. Bethany got hit by a rogue, he began strangling her.

Anna lept out of the darkness in wolf form. She charged into the situation with two more wolves behind her. Sarah turned to flee but David had already caught up with her. He tried to bite her ankle but she kicked him squarely in the face. Jethro tackled her to the ground, ignoring the blows from her fists.

Anna and the specialists helped to subdue the rogues. Beating them all until they were unconscious. The entire ordeal only took twelve minutes, but it felt like Eve and Flint had watched an entire action movie.

“They did well.” Eve couldn’t keep the look of accomplishment from her face.

“You did well.” Flint stated.

He waited for her to turn to face him so he could catch her chin in his palm.

“You’re plan was well formed and executed. You also remained here this time, which I see as a definite improvement over your last few schemes. However, next time you have to tell me what you’re doing.”

Eve smiled at him and ran her fingertips over his scratchy beard and down his throat.

“Be beside me always, and I will tell you anything.” She whispered.

“How long before they arrive?” Flint probed.

“The campsite is two hours away.” Eve estimated.

“Good.” He breathed against her lips.

Flint kissed her deeply, burying his fingers in her hair. Even her honey blonde strands provoked electric jolts through his muscles. Eve’s senses came alive as she tasted him. The woody, earthy scent of him enveloped her.

He wrapped his arm around her waist and spun to lay her on her back. Flint’s lips moved down her throat. He bit her skin gently as he pulled her robe open, provoking a pleasurable gasp from his mate. Eve ran her palms over his hard chest, trailing them over his stomach.

He moved his lips further down, skimming over her sternum. The scratchiness of his beard on her delicate skin made her shiver in his hands. Eve stifled a moan as his lips grazed over her hip bone. His hands grasped her breasts as his tongue grazed the most sensitive part of her.

Eve’s body went rigid under his caressing. Flint’s fingers grazed her entrance, teasing her. Her legs began trembling as waves of heat coursed through her. She closed her eyes and bit down on the moan threatening to erupt from her. When she opened her lids again, Flint was hovering over her.

He placed a lingering kiss on her lips, pushing his hips flush with hers. Eve moaned against his mouth as she felt him fill her. His tongue began to twirl with hers as his hips began moving. Flint was moving slowly in long, deep thrusts. He parted from her lips to groan as her core tightened around him. Eve arched her back, angling her pelvis to meet his.

The feeling of her skin against his was maddening. Even more so was the thought that he had went so many days without it. He gripped her thighs in his hands as she wrapped her legs around his hips.

Flint’s teeth dug into the mark on her shoulder possessively. Eve screamed out as her entire body vibrated with pleasure. His teeth released her before his tongue brushed the impression his teeth had left behind. He groaned as her depths closed around his erection again, pulling him in.

Eve felt him stiffen from climax before his emerald green eyes, clouded from intimacy, focused on hers. Flint kissed her deeply, slowly. As if he were studying her every reaction to him.

“I’m sorry, Eve.” He exhaled onto her lips.

“I know.” She pressed another kiss to his mouth.

Flint sighed gratefully and rested his forehead against hers for a moment. Eve nestled against him when he did eventually move to lay beside her.

“The final round of the Beta tournament is coming up.” Eve thought aloud.

“Graham against Duncan.” Flint nodded.

“It’s going to be brutal.” She breathed worriedly.

“They are fighting for their place in our pack. It should be.” He replied.

“I told Johnny we could stop by on the way and pick him up. He wants to go with us to the final.” Eve explained.

“Whatever you want, baby.” Flint kissed the top of her head.

She snuggled against his side, wrapping her arm around his broad chest. He looked down at her for a moment before placing a hand on her stomach. The bump there had begun to show and harden. He rubbed his thumb back and forth thoughtfully.

“He’s growing.” She placed her palm on his hand.

Flint nodded pensively. He could feel the power inside his mate. It had settled down, but was still there. His thoughts were completely cleared a moment later by a small, direct pressure against his fingers.

Eve nearly chuckled at the look of utter astonishment on his face. He waited a moment and when he felt it again, a wide smile spread across his lips. Flint looked at Eve like she were somehow amazing.

“I told you, he’s growing.” She giggled at his expression.

“Yeah, he is.” Flint nodded, looking at the bump under his palm. “He definitely is.”
