" I am glad you took my advice,” The deep voice said in the Queen’s head.

" You were right,” the Queen agreed. ” Those strong and capable men don’t deserve to be with that weakling.”

When the three people had unexpectedly shown up at her tribe, the Queen’s first instinct was to get rid of them. Last time, a group of people had come up to them with gifts only to lure them into a trap. Half of their tribe had been destroyed as the vile people stole their precious stones and gems. She and her tribe had vowed not to trust anyone again, so she had ordered her men to execute the three people. Things took a turn when they saved her from the huge beast.

The Queen was awed when she saw them turning into a wolf. She had never seen a werewolf before and had thought it was a myth. Though she hadn’t seen them fight, the sheer size and the aura of the black wolf showed that he was strong. Her suspicions were confirmed when she heard a voice in her head. " He’s good. Do you like him?”

The Queen was startled by the sound and thought she had imagined it, but she heard it again. " He is the most powerful werewolf in the World. He has destroyed many such beasts single-handedly.”

" Who are you? Why can’t I see you anywhere? Is this some sort of a trick?” the Queen asked suspiciously, looking around herself.

" I am a witch,” the voice said confidently. " You cannot see me because I am invisible.”

" Why are you invisible?” The day was getting more interesting as the Queen encountered many strange creatures that she had only heard about till now.

" So that I can help you. I can see it. I can see your desires and help you fulfill them. You feel lonely without a partner by your side. You want a man to love you, care for you and rule this tribe with you. And that man is the right guy for you.”

The Queen stared at Chris, who was now only wearing pants, and his chiseled body was on display. She couldn’t get her eyes off him.

Samara had seen the Queen’s thoughts and couldn’t let this opportunity go and decided to pour fuel into the fire. " You can have him all to yourself. You can have him beside you and rule over the entire forest. Trust me; he is capable.”

" Why should I trust you?” the Queen asked.

" I’ve lived in this forest for a long time and have come across many tribes, but your way of taking care of your people is way better than all the other tribes out there. I want you to be the Queen of not only this tribe but all the tribes and this entire forest.”

The Queen swelled up in pride at the unexpected praise and asked eagerly, ” Is that possible?”

" Of course, it’s possible,” Samara said, noticing her trick was working. " If you have that strong man with you, it is possible.”

" Then I will ask him to.”

" Do you think he will agree so easily only because you ask him to?”

" If he doesn’t agree, I will use force,” the Queen said in a matter-of-fact tone.

" Don’t underestimate them. Didn’t you see how easily they managed to subdue the beast? You cannot use force here; you have to use your wits.”

The Queen thought about it and realized she had a point, but she was still skeptical about why this witch was helping her. Did she have some ulterior motives?

" Why are you helping me? What’s your motive behind this?”

" As I already mentioned, I have not seen a better Queen than you. After you become the Queen of the entire forest, I want you to take me under your protection.”

" Why do you need protection? You are a witch who can do magic.”

" I can be invisible with my magic, but that’s all. I can’t fight,” Samara said in a helpless tone to convince her. The foolish Queen, who thought herself to be better than others, was easily swayed by her words.

“Fine!! I will protect you,” the Queen said proudly, and Samara almost scoffed at that. ” So, what do you reckon I must do?”

" She is the black wolf’s mate. He won’t accept you if she is alive.”

" Wouldn’t he be angry if I kill his mate? I heard werewolves are very possessive of their mates.”

" That is just a myth. He is forced to stay with her because of the mate bond. He didn’t want her in the first place.”

Though the Queen had no reason to trust the witch, she had to because that is what she wanted, and seeing that someone was acknowledging and trying to help her fulfill her desires was more than enough for her. ” So, what’s the plan?”

Adele, Chris, and Liam saw the big feast that was arranged for them. Adele, who was skeptical about the situation, smelled the cooked meat placed in front of her.

" It’s drugged,” Alexa confirmed her doubts.

" Don’t eat the meat,” Adele mind-linked to Chris and Liam. “It’s drugged.”

" How do you know?” Chris asked.

" Use your senses,” Adele scowled.

" She’s right,” Liam said.

“Why aren’t you eating?” the Queen asked them.

" We are vegetarians,” Adele blurted out.

" Vegetarians?” the Queen chuckled. ” Didn’t you say you are a werewolf?”

" I could have found a better excuse,” Chris muttered.

" Then why didn’t you?” Adele retorted and gave a fake smile to the Queen. ” We have vowed to eat vegetarian until we find the holy river.” She picked up a fruit and smelled it, which seemed fine.

" I told you she’s smart,” the Queen heard the voice say. ” If she is smart, I am nothing less,” she replied to the witch.

" Why would she drug our food?” Liam asked the others.

" I told you there’s something odd with her. Let’s leave immediately,” Adele suggested.

When they were done with the food, Chris said, ” We should be leaving now.”

" Didn’t you say you would stay until morning?” The Queen looked at Chris flirtatiously, and Adele wished to strangle her then and there.

" We changed our minds,” Adele said, clenching her fist. ” We are leaving now.”

" Then I can’t tell you about the shortcut,” the Queen tried to bribe them with information.

" We don’t believe in shortcuts,” Adele gave a curt reply.

" I insist...” the Queen started.

" You insist a lot,” Adele interrupted her. ” Don’t forget that you are the Queen of this tribe, not ours.”

" Fine then, you can go,” the Queen said casually.

Adele glanced at the others in confusion when they heard the Queen say, ” Collect your belongings from the back room, and then you can leave.”

" I will get it,” Liam said, but the Queen stopped him.

" You can’t go.”

" Why not?”

" Men are not allowed into the back room. It is strictly for females.”

" What are you playing at?” Adele asked the Queen glaring at her.

" I am not doing anything. Are you so scared to go to the backroom alone?” the Queen mocked.

" Don’t go, Adele; I think it’s a trap, ” Chris said. ” Forget the bag; we will just leave.”

" We can’t leave the bag, Chris; we need the potions. Come and get me if I don’t return in five minutes.”

Adele went to the backroom with a female guard who asked her to enter alone. The cabin seemed to be empty, and nothing looked out of the ordinary. Adele’s bag was kept in the corner, and she entered the room cautiously. As expected, the room door was closed behind her.

Adele picked up the bag and was getting ready to break down the door when she saw snakes entering the cabin from all sides.

" The bi**h,” Adele cursed and sent a message to Liam. ” Don’t let Chris come here.”

" Why? What happened?” Liam asked in panic.

" There are snakes everywhere.”

" F**k!!!” Liam screamed. ” Get away from there,” he rushed towards the backroom but was blocked by a guard.

" What’s wrong, Liam?” Chris asked, following his lead.

" Adele is trapped in the room,” Liam said, punching a guard in the face.

" I will go and help her,” Chris said, kicking another.

" You can’t help her. I will go.”

" Why not?” Chris asked, offended, and angrily smashed a guard’s face on another’s head.

" She’s trapped with snakes.”

Chris was suddenly frozen in shock. Liam approached him and shook him vigorously, holding his arms. ” Get yourself together, Chris. I won’t let anything happen to her. You fight the guards and stop them; I will get Adele,” Liam said and left.

Chris was still too scared and was filled with dread thinking about the various possibilities. His thoughts were interrupted when he was punched in the face.

Chris wiped the blood off his mouth and stared at the people in front of him. He was surrounded by the tribal guards and the Queen, who had victorious smiles on their faces.

" What do you want?” Chris spat at the Queen.

" You,” the Queen said calmly.

" What do you mean?”

" I want to be your woman, and for that, your mate must die.”

" Shut the f**k up!!” Chris roared. ” There’s only one woman for me, and you all...” Chris pointed at the people in front of him. “...Have messed up with the wrong people. Show me what you got.”
