Chris was on a role. Because of his inability to assist his mate, he was so enraged that he wouldn’t let the tribal guards stand for more than a few seconds. The Queen was in distress as well as in awe of Chris’s prowess.

Meanwhile, Adele and Liam had a hard time dealing with the snakes. Liam had easily managed to break the cabin door, but the sight inside was hideous. The room was filled with poisonous snakes crawling on the floor, walls, and even the ceiling.

Adele had managed to get hold of a stick to ward off the snakes. Liam reached Adele by stomping and kicking a few snakes out of his way.

" Out of all the creatures we could meet, why should it be snakes? I don’t know how to fight them,” Adele stated in distress.

" Let’s just try to get out of this room,” Liam said and held Adele’s wrist. A snake fell on Liam’s back, and Adele moved it away with the stick. They got rid of the few snakes and were almost at the door when a snake coiled itself around Adele’s leg. She tried to get rid of the snake, but it had a tight grip on her leg. Liam bent down and pulled the snake off her leg, but it bit him on his arm.

" You got bit by the snake,” Adele said, looking at Liam’s arm in horror. She took out a scarf from her bag and tied it around his arm. She tried to drag Liam out of the room, but Liam felt light-headed and almost fell down.

" Liam...? ”

" I-I feel dizzy,” Liam whispered.

" I think the snake is too poisonous,” Adele said in worry and looked into the bag. ” Where’s the potion? I can’t find it here.” She looked everywhere in her bag, but there was not a single bottle. ” Did that b**ch Queen take it?” Adele cursed in frustration.

" Do something, Ad,” Alexa cried out in panic. " Don’t let him die.”

Adele’s dream flashed in front of her eyes wherein she saw her mate...” No...” Adele screamed and helped Liam stand up in his half-conscious state.

Liam fell again as the poison took its effect. His vision was blurry, and he even spat blood from his mouth.

" Liam... Please hold on for some time,” Adele said and tried to drag him out, but Liam was too heavy, and on top of that, they were still surrounded by snakes.

The guards were all down, and Chris stared at the Queen in warning. ” Ask your men to back out. I don’t want to kill them.”

" If you agree to stay with me, all this will stop.”

Chris was about to retort when he got a message from Adele. ” Chris... I need your help.”

" Are you alright?” Chris asked in concern.

" I am fine, but Liam is poisoned.”

" What?” Chris roared and almost snapped a guard’s neck in anger.

" The Queen has our healing potion. Please get it soon.”

" I will get it. Take care of yourself and Liam,” Chris said and approached the Queen. ” Did you take our potions?”

" Yes,” the Queen said with a straight face.

" Give it back now.”

" Why? Did the snakes do their job? Is your mate dead?” the Queen asked expectantly.

" You...” Chris clenched his fist in anger. ” Don’t force my hand. I don’t want to fight you. Give me the potion, and I will leave quietly with my mate and friend.”

" That’s what I don’t want. I don’t want you to leave.”

" What kind of woman are you?” Chris said in frustration. ” You are the Queen. Are you not worried for your men’s safety?”

The Queen was enraged by Chris’s behavior. She opened a wooden box and took out the potion bottles. ” I warned you,” she yelled and angrily threw the bottles on the ground.

Chris jumped up at the right moment and managed to grab hold of a single bottle while the others fell to the ground, breaking into pieces and spilling their contents.

Adele was now only concentrating on keeping the snakes away from herself and Liam. She had got hold of a match stick and kept the snakes at bay by lighting fire around her. Liam was already unconscious and had turned blue, but he was still breathing. Chris had not yet returned, and Adele was running out of options.

" Suck off the poison out of him,” Alexa suggested.

" You know the meaning of this, right?” Adele asked.

" I know, but we can’t let him die.”

Adele held Liam’s arm, getting ready to suck out the poison, when she heard Chris calling for her.

Chris reached the backroom and almost fainted when he saw the number of snakes in front of him. He backed away on instinct and was taken to the time when he was four years old. Chris was playing hide and seek with his friends when he was entirely swallowed by a python. Luckily, Chris’s dad, Shawn, showed up at the right time, cut open the python, and rescued him. Though Chris was unharmed, that incident had left a terrible fear of snakes within him. The darkness inside the python’s body and the feeling of getting twisted and crushed was the cause of his nightmares for years.

Chris came back to his senses when he heard Adele say, ” I know it’s difficult for you, Chris, but you have to fight your fear for Liam. Do you have the potion with you?”

" Y-Yes,” Chris replied, still trembling in fear, not daring to open his eyes.

" Okay. Calm down. Throw the bottle here; I will give it to Liam.”

" W-What if you can’t catch it? There’s only one bottle left.” Chris couldn’t risk it. He slowly opened his eyes and saw a snake jump towards Adele from the ceiling.

Without a second thought, he jumped forward and held the snake, and threw it away from Adele before it could bite her. With trembling hands, he picked up Liam and said, ” Come on.”

Adele and Chris fled out of the room, which was on the verge of getting collapsed due to fire.

" Are you alright?” Chris asked Adele. ” Did you get bit?”

" I am fine,” Adele replied.

Chris handed over the healing potion to Adele, who used it on Liam’s snakebite wound. Liam regained his consciousness after a few minutes, and Adele signed in relief. ” Thank the Moon Goddess. I was so scared.”

” I am ready to die a thousand times if it means you will be concerned for me,” Liam joked.

Adele lightly punched Liam on the arm and scowled. ” Don’t joke about death.”

" Yes, buddy. You can’t die on us,” Chris said. ” Now get up. We are leaving this terrible place right now.”

The Queen was furious when she saw that Adele was unharmed by the snakes. " What are you doing simply standing there like a statue?” the voice said in her head. “Ask your men to get up and stop them.”

" But they are all injured, ” the Queen replied, concerned for her men. ” They couldn’t beat one single man; now there are three.”

" Useless pile of shit,” the witch spat. " If you don’t order them, then I will.”

The men who were all beaten by Chris felt someone ordering them to attack the werewolves. Even though they didn’t want to, it was as if their body had a mind of their own.

The Queen watched in shock when her injured men tried to get up and run towards Chris, Liam, and Adele.

" How did this happen? Did you do something, witch?”

" Yes.”

" How did you do it? Please stop right now. My men will die.”

" I don’t take orders from anyone,” the witch replied smugly.

" Did you trick me?” the Queen asked in horror. ” You had an ulterior motive?”

" Of course!! You were foolish enough to think a stranger would help you without reason.”

Adele, Chris, and Liam had transformed into their wolves and got far from the tribe. Once they were a safe distance away, they stopped to take a breath.

" I am hungry,” Alexa said, and Liam’s wolf Lex jumped up at the chance, " I will get food for you. You can rest for some time.”

" Are you not the one who needs rest?” Alexa asked him.

" The potion has given me an extra burst of energy. You guys transform; I will get the food,” Lex said and rushed towards the bushes.

Alexa and Conan shifted back to their human form and got dressed. While changing, Chris suddenly tripped and fell.

" What’s wrong?” Adele asked and helped him get up.

" Nothing. I stepped on my foot by mistake,” Chris replied.

Adele nodded in relief and sat down beside the tree, waiting for Liam.

Chris felt a little dizzy and rechecked his wrist, which had now turned blue around the snakebite mark.
