Joshua flipped the table as soon as those words left Clay’s mouth. He couldn’t believe that Zia had surrended herself to the pack after all he had done to protect. He knew bringing her to move her was a big mistake. He should have followed what Laura had told her. Zia could easily changed her mind. Joshua’s hands clenched as he thought of what he needed to do to get her out of there. It was almost impossible to escape from dungeon belonged to a werewolves pack. There was only one way in and out of the dungeon. The entrance was also served as the exit.

He looked at his oldest son as he remembered something. Zia went to see Brody earlier. Did the man say something to her that could make her surrendered to the pack just like that?

“Dad, we can’t just leave her there to die.” Clay pointed out. “She’s my sister. We lost Samuel. We can’t lose her too.”

Joshua didn’t want to admit it but his son was right except for one thing. He got enough blood to spill

Zia knew too many things about his legacy included the locations of many safehouses used by many hunters. If she blurted the information out to the pack, there would be a lot of messes to clean up. Not to mention the long list of active hunters. Joshua had to break her out of there and sent her somewhere else to start anew. He didn’t need a person who couldn’t stay loyal to one side.

“Dad!” Clay exclaimed, snapping Joshua from his thoughts.

“Call everyone to regroup.” he instructed as he walked out.

“Where are you going?”

“Talking to Brody.”

He went to the second floor and saw Laura had just left Brody’s room with an empty plate in her hand. He ignored his wife as he barged the room. In his house, he got to do anything as he saw fit. Brody was transferred from clinic to the house earlier today. Now, he was bedridden until his fractured arm was fully heal in a few weeks.

“What did you tell her?” Joshua demanded.

“I don’t know what you mean,” Brody avoided his eye-contact.

“Don’t lie to me, Brody.”

“Did I ever lie to you?” He looked at Joshua with a hardened gaze. “Father?”

The elder man tensed. Brody forced himself to stand up and confront the man who fathered him but never allowed the world to know that he was an Ashton instead of Sawyer. And to make things worst, he fell in love with his half-sister and bedded her. He loved Zia, yes, that was the truth but that was before he found out that she was his half-sister. He had committed incest in the house. How could he ever forgive himself for that? Let alone the fact that he couldn’t stop loving her as a woman instead of a sister. How fucked up that was? He wanted to tell and hurt himself in a way he could forget looking at Zia as a lover but he knew it wouldn’t work that. He could never forget or stopped loving her. What have he done?

“When did you find out?” Joshua asked, dropping the previous subject.

“About three weeks after we moved here,”

Brody was standing before the counter of the local cafe as he waited for his order when someone bumped against his legs. He looked down and saw a little girl, smiling at him. She was wearing a full-winter clothing and it seemed like her shoes were a little bit slippery for the floor.

“Sorry, Sir.” she mumbled apologetically.

“It’s okay, princess. Where’s your mommy?” Brody helped to wipe away the snow all over her pink beanie. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Mommy is looking for a parking. It’s snowing bad outside.” she pointed to the glass door.

She was right. The snow was falling harder.

“What do you want to order, princess? We can sit there until your mommy is here.”

She nodded eagerly and faced the barista. Another woman came in and the little girl turned around.

“Mommy!” she squealed.

Brody’s body went rigid when he saw the older version of little girl. She was the same woman in the photo that his dad gave to him a night before he was killed by a werewolf. He told him that the woman in the photo was his mother. Brody used to believe that he was abandoned by his mother but when his dad told him that he was taken from his mother, everything vanished just like that.

Now, she was right here, standing before his own eyes. Brody was assured that this was the woman in the photo. She looked a lot older than he imagined. Her eyes looked at him as if she could recognize him. Then, she stopped searching anything in his eyes when she focused on his left ear. He had a birthmark of his left ear.

“Mom, you left this.” A man came up to them causing her to break the eye-contact.

“Thanks, honey,” she muttered to her son, “Why don’t you order with your sister? I’m going to the restroom.”

She gave an hinting glance to Brody before she walked to the restroom. Without taking his drink, Brody left the counter to follow her to the back of the store. He had been looking for her since that night. For years, he had been looking for his mother.

“Brody Sawyer?” He heard her voice as soon as he stepped into the restroom.

“You know me?”

Her eyes were brimming with tears as she cupped his face, “A mother would never forget her son.”

“M-Mom?” his voice was shaky before he hugged her as if his life was depending on it.

“You’d speak to no one about this.” Joshua jabbed his finger to Brody’s chest.

“Are you ashamed of me, dad? That I’m half of the thing you’re killing?”

“I’d deal with you later.” Joshua walked out and picked his phone from his pocket. He dialed a number and waited for a man to answer it, “We’re going after the girl. Bring her to me tonight.”

He wasn’t the kind of a guy who would drag an innocent person into this mess but he had to. There were too many things would be exposed and he couldn’t risk that.

Tonight, he’d play dirty.

“I’m coming for you, Clara. It’s time for you and your beloved bastard to pay for it.” he muttered to himself.
