“What do you mean?” Jaxon stood with a phone plastered to his ear. “What do you mean my sister isn’t in her piano class?!” he roared.

He grabbed his car key and stormed out of the office. Everyone avoided the enrage Alpha as he made his way to his car in front of the mansion. Jaxon hung up without listening to Maria on the other line. He was furious. There was no way Jain would have skipped her class. She loved piano class too much. That was her passion. She would attend the class every summer.

It took him ten minutes to reach there as he was speeding in. He braked his car hard and just got out of it without killing the engine. There were several Enforcers already on site, checking the possibility of Jain could be there.

“Where is she?” Jaxon demanded Mario.

The piano teacher was being attended by a doctor which confirmed that she must have been knocked out when it happened.

“We found her bag but not Jain. She wasn’t anywhere in the place. We checked the cameras too. Faked footage was looping all over.”

“Witness’ statement?”

“Mrs. Frassbrander said there was smoke came out through the air duct. It was sleeping gas. Everyone was knocked out before they could reach out for help. The abductors must have grabbed Jain during that.”

Jaxon growled in frustration as he looked around. He pointed to the parking lot, “Those cars should have front camera.”

“I’ll go and check who owned those cars,” Mario left.

A few minutes later, Jaxon groaned when his parents arrived there. Clara was demanding answers of where her daughter could be. Her body was shaking in Riley’s arms as she cried hard. Jaxon couldn’t face his parents because he was careless. Now, Jain was nowhere to be found. Mario and a few guys were checking the cameras on the cars while the Alpha was thinking hard on where his sister could be. He instructed a few Enforcers to search for her in several places he always took her to. He checked from one classroom to another until he reached Jain’s classroom. Her bag was still there. Jaxon knelt down next to the chair where Jain’s bag was left. She was taken in a hurry because the chair collapsed to the floor. There was a sign of struggle too. The table was slightly out of the line from the other tables. This could mean that Jain was still conscious when they forced her out of there.

“Zia…” Jaxon finally realized that his sister went missing could have something to do with the huntress.

Telling his parents that he needed to do somewhere, Jaxon hopped into his car and drove off. Joshua must have known that Zia surrendered herself to the pack. Jaxon couldn’t believe that the hunter would drag a kid into this war. What kind of a heartless monster he was?

“Where is she?” Jaxon demanded from Zia as soon as he stepped into the jail cell.

He didn’t bother to close the door because there were two hundred Enforcers at the outside, guarding this entirely dungeon. He had increased patrols in several important and blind spots of his territory.

“Where’s who?” Zia asked, looking puzzled at his question.

Jaxon grabbed her by the arms and slammed her back to the wall, “Don’t play dumb with me, Zia. Where did he take my sister?”

She winced at the pain, “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” she answered then it looked like she finally understood something. “Jain? He took Jain?”

The Alpha punched the wall behind her with his right fist as his eyes turned pitch black indicated his wolf was close to the surface.

“Don’t play dumb with us, Zia,” the sound of his voice was like two people talked at once. “We do not like our mate lied to us.”

“M-Mate?”

He smirked wickedly, ” Yes, mate. You are my mate and you’re about to see the monster comes out. So, tell us; where is Jain?”

“If Joshua sends his men to get her, there is a possibility that someone is holding her tight until the time comes,”

“Where?!”

“The storage unit!” she answered in fear. “Joshua owned a storage unit where he kept everything regarding safehouses, names and whatnot.”

“Now, that’s not so hard, isn’t it?”

Jaxon pulled away and his wolf retreated from the surface. He never felt this kind of feeling whenever he was halfway to shift. The wickedness was so overwhelming in his mind until he almost couldn’t recognize his own wolf. He used the bars to support himself as he tried to regain his thoughts back. His wolf was very angry in the back of his mind. They were very protective of Jain.

“Jaxon, what did you mean I’m your mate?” Zia asked but didn’t take a step towards him.

There was fear lingering in her eyes. He felt good about it. He didn’t know why it felt good that his mate was afraid of him. Maybe because he wanted her to pay for what she had caused to his family.

“Why do you want to know about it?” His tone was harsh. “It doesn’t change anything between us.”

Nothing could change. The mating bond could pull him to her all the time but Jaxon wouldn’t cave in. He couldn’t do that. Every time he thought of her, he thought of what Hanson’s son had to go through for the rest of his life. He lost both of his parents. He was an orphaned now. His well-being rested upon Jaxon and his family.

Zia was taken back by his words. Come on, she couldn’t expect that he’d just forgive and forget about everything. Why would she want him anyway? After all, the werewolves were the monsters and her family was the saint ones.

“Alpha, Amanda is looking for you.” One of the Enforcers in the dungeon informed to him.

“I’d be right there,” Jaxon replied.

He turned to face his mate once again but unable to keep looking at her face. He was too hurt. Her eyes reminded him of so much pain.

He walked to her and stood at an arm-length, “The mating bond could have been the most precious and sacred thing for both of us,” he spoke, putting his hands into his pockets. “But, I guess it’s just a curse now.”

“Jaxon, please, don’t do this,” tears were pooling in her eyes.

“Did you have a second thought when your victim begged you to spare them?”

“You were right. I can create my own future,” his shoulders slumped as their eyes met, “I, Jaxon Creighton, reject Zia Ashton as my mate.”
